What’s for Sunday dinner?

Or lunch if you have your main meal on Sundays at lunchtime?
We usually have a roast as everyone likes it. Today Dh is fancying a stew but the dc won’t like it, and I’m fancying a pie but again dc wont like it! Not after a debate on the fussiness of the dc, just being nosey about what everyone else is having…

It's DHs birthday so we went out for lunch & had a carvery - roast turkey for me & both DC, roast beef for DH, with all the trimmings.

MinnieMountain · 09/10/2022 16:43

This thread is making me so hungry! DH is cooking as I’ve been working - Jamie Oliver Carbonara. Even incredibly fussy DD13 will eat it, although she picks out all the peas!

TheChosenTwo · 09/10/2022 17:06

Well slight amendment to our dinner plans, we are having roast pork, cauli cheese, roasted parsnips, cabbage, green beans, roast potatoes, obviously gravy and then tiramisu and profiteroles are the options for afters!

This Sunday, we are having sausages, mash and peas with gravy.

Next two weeks' Sundays are pie and roast potatoes and lasagne. We get a bit bored of roasts every week, but we do have one at least once a month.

PollyEsther · 09/10/2022 17:09

Should have used one of those awfrul oxford commas there. And proof-read

Pie amd roast potatoes, and lasagne.

Bagpuss2022 · 09/10/2022 17:10

Chinese pork steaks with new potatoes and green beans was supposed to be a gammon roast but DH put it in the slow cooker but didn’t turn it on

Vampirethriller · 09/10/2022 17:16

Pork chops, mashed potatoes, broccoli and carrots, peas, Yorkshire puddings and gravy. And syrup sponge and custard.

Lemon Pepper chicken wings, they are marinating and will cook in about 1hr!

mrssmith45 · 09/10/2022 17:23

Roast beef for us today! First Sunday roast we have had in ages though!

Minikievs · 09/10/2022 17:24

Homemade macaroni cheese and broccoli. I'd love a roast but couldn't be arsed today

Imissmoominmama · 09/10/2022 17:24

Spag bol. I went fridge/freezer trawling for ingredients because I have Covid and DH is at work.

We usually go to the pub for Sunday lunch.

limitededitionbarbie · 09/10/2022 17:26

We got a bake at home shop bought apple pie and custard for later

MoniJitchell · 09/10/2022 17:26

Caramel cheesecake for dessert

familyissues12345 · 09/10/2022 17:27

Chicken and chorizo jambalaya for the meat eaters, no idea for me - haven't shopped yet and Gousto box arrives tomorrow!

Eminybob · 09/10/2022 17:28

Lasagne, garlic bread and rocket salad.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 09/10/2022 17:29

We eat at lunchtime, never in the evening.
Today we had roast pork, Yorkshire puddings, sprouts, peas, broad beans, gravy and sticky toffee pudding with ice cream.
I don’t always do a roast, DH won’t cook so it’s what I fancy making most of the time 😊

Notateacheranymore · 09/10/2022 17:34

Roast chicken, roast carrots, parsnips and potatoes.
The last of the chocolate cake I made earlier in the week and the leftover custard from last week’s crumble for later

DH does the savoury, I’m in charge of puddings.

DialsMavis · 09/10/2022 17:37

Im poorly and DH is away, so no proper Sunday dinner here. DD and I will have oomph fake kebab meat, pitta, hummus, skin on fries and salad.

Due to the lurg I also havent made any soup for lunches next week, will try and muster the energy to knock one up while I do dinner.

gluenotsoup · 09/10/2022 17:40

@AriettyHomily
tell me more … lemon potatoes with stifado? Sounds lovely 🙂

SudocremOnEverything · 09/10/2022 17:41

I rarely do a roast tbh. But today I’m doing pork belly. I’m doing roast potatoes, roast carrots and parsnips, garlicky kale and gravy with it.
