Are you still hanging your washing outside?

Even in the dull cold weather? I am...even though it's a bit of a bother...I do find it makes a difference...this time last year I would have shoved it in the dryer...

Yes but it's annoying because the weather forecasts aren't very reliable so it keeps getting rained on when it was supposed to stay dry.

I'm inly doing it now if I'm staying in to supervise it!

Yes. I've always used the dryer this time of year but I'm still using the line. I've been caught out by the rain a few times but left it out, even overnight, and it's dried.
The plan is to carry on and finish it off inside on the airer and just use the dryer for when it gets freezing.
I'm due to give birth next week so not sure about using the airer and having damp clothes indoors with a newborn as the only place the airer fits is in the living room.

The baby will be fine with the clothes on the airer!

Two loads, dried perfectly today.

Same here Smile

PeloFondo · 03/10/2022 17:41

No because it's not allowed in my garden Angry
I'm waiting for my neighbour to move-- so I can get away with it he's the only one that would report me--

Lovelydovey · 03/10/2022 17:42

South London - dried a load in the sun this afternoon (4.5 hours). Will carry on putting outside as long as it’s not raining. So warm this afternoon I’ve had the back door open all afternoon too.

I do as long as the ground is dry. I've dried towels and a sheet today. Even if it's very cold as long as there is some wind things will dry.

iliketartan · 03/10/2022 17:58

Yes if the forecast is dry then the washing is out regardless of the temperature but if it's a bit windy even better.

megletthesecond · 03/10/2022 18:01

Yes. I always have. Unless it's chucking it down it goes out. Day and night, all year round. Sun and ice.
Only very urgent items get put on the airer inside.

Namechange192727171 · 03/10/2022 18:05

I hang a load out every evening unless it's pouring down.

gogohmm · 03/10/2022 18:06

Brilliant sunshine here

High5InALowRide · 03/10/2022 18:09

I did at the weekend. I tend to always put it out unless it's raining although I do have a little tiny line under cover. I don't have a tumble drier so I assumed everyone did this tbh, even in winter it helps stop condensation inside by getting the bulk of the drying done outside

WeeblesWibbleWobble · 03/10/2022 18:11

Yep. I do all year as long as ground dry, breeze or sunny. Then finish on airer.
2 loads dry today except the hood of a jumper so that's on airer

AsterixInEngland · 03/10/2022 18:15

Of course.
All winter, like I’ve done every year for the last 10 years.

Its nit crazy or unmanageable or not working.
Quite the opposite

HideTheCroissants · 03/10/2022 18:27

Thesearmsofmine · 03/10/2022 09:40

Yea, mine goes out all year round. We don’t have a tumble dryer

^ This

Mine dried really well on the line yesterday.

if it doesn’t dry fully then I just finish it off on the clothes horse with the dehumidifier.

Spanielsarepainless · 03/10/2022 18:29

I got a dark load of jeans and sweatshirts dry yesterday and an ordinary one just about dry today. I put it out whenever it dry with a breeze even if it's cold.

LadyMacnet · 03/10/2022 18:39

Yes. I had one load our today and 2 loads on Saturday. Tumble drier broke a few months ago and we won’t replace it.

We have a laundrette close by. In the worst of the winter months I’ll run the hard to dry stuff through a tumble drier there.

RomeoOscarXrayIndigoEcho · 10/10/2022 20:02

Had a load of washing out on the line today. Really windy. Smells lovely now.

Ringbling85 · 10/10/2022 20:04

No because I do all of my laundry on a Friday evening and Saturday, I will hang it out if it’s nice but if not I use the dryer (I will use the clothes airer in the house too though!) I only use the dryer twice a week though.

Nicpem1982 · 11/10/2022 10:59

Yes

Got 3 loads out yesterday and bedding on the line today.

I do a load last thing in the evening if I think the weather is good the next day and get it on the line around 7am.

I'm about to pop a second load in now ☺️

randomsabreuse · 11/10/2022 11:53

Not for a couple of weeks but I'm (hopefully) not done. Not had any days where it's been dry for more than the time it would take to hang out the washing...

HideTheCroissants · 11/10/2022 13:07

Mine goes outside in the breeze and then I finish it off on the airer with a dehumidifier. I don’t have a tumble drier and don’t want one.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 11/10/2022 13:20

Yes, it goes outside if there’s any chance of it drying; only rain, snow or fog stops me hanging it out. If the patio slabs are dry it’s good to go.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 11/10/2022 13:25

If there’s a breeze or it’s sunny I do, yes. It’s been lovely the last two days, but is going to be damp towards the end of the week. Hoping the line full of towels I have to put out will dry before it rains tomorrow.

romany4 · 11/10/2022 14:29

I've never owned a tumble dryer.
My washing goes out on the line whenever it's dry. I love on top of a hill so it's windy a lot!

Decafflatteplease · 11/10/2022 16:09

Got a load of towels pretty much dried today which was unexpected. 11-14 degrees but not much wind. Just about to finish them off in tumbler as airers are full and we need them dry and ready for DC bath time
