My work have a advance payment for things like this. They give you the basic allowance up front for x pounds a day - unless the employee is happy with claiming back. .

Anyway Wetherspoons one night. picnic the other nights.

I've spoken to my boss who cant/won't help with advance. He's going to apply for a company credit card for me so that's something for next time.

OP do you have an HR dept or someone above your boss? I'd be going to them if so because there's no way they "can't" help with this.

What nonsense.

If the centre has a cafe or food truck that sells jacket potatoes that's a nice meal with some salad. Tapas. Take away soup.

My work is like yours. We get an allowance but you've got to claim it back.

We used to provide a float to staff who had expenses so they weren't out of pocket. They had to sign an agreement and submit receipts to claim expenses as normal, and the full amount was repayable if they no longer required it or left the business.

You shouldn't be disadvantaged because you're being sent away from home.
