I’m not leaving the house until it gets better

Anyone care to join me? It’s a storm out there. Winter is coming. Everything is too expensive & the weather is going to shit for the next six months. I’m going to stay in my house until it’s nicer. Hiding.

@red4321 that’s a great perspective. Sorry for your friend. But you’ve reminded me that we have to take every day as a gift. Sorry if others think that’s cheesy. But some people would kill to be able to even walk to

You're right. I'm also not really into emotional schmaltz either but when I'm annoyed with my kids leaving clothes everywhere or a mountain of washing, I think that my friend (and her children) would have given anything to have had that extra time.

I appreciate it's been a rubbish few years but it still makes all the other stuff seem unimportant in comparison.

Buzzinwithbez · 02/10/2022 18:35

That sounds like you're having a hard time op. Do you have plenty of healthy coping mechanisms that centre around your home? Are you quite happy pottering?
What is it about being out of the home that feels less safe?

@CheezePleeze did you deliberately misread what I wrote so you could disagree??

Eh? No Confused

Attempting to do this myself OP
Unfortunately I have DC who need to leave the house but trying to make things more fun and comfortable at home to minimise that to as little as possible
The world is not a nice place right now

So I replied...

The world has never been a particularly nice place and never will be.
But kids (if encouraged) are normally delighted to go out every day. My local play park is crammed through all seasons.
It's good for the mind and body to get them out and about and of course the nicest thing about being out in cold weather, is getting home and having a hot drink/PJs on etc.

What do you think I've misread? 🤔

I've read it as you are trying to minimise letting your kids out of the house and discouraging them from wanting to do so?

Thank you. That's exactly how I read it.

catwithflowers
It was gorgeous here in the north east this morning. A little grey now but a nice breeze for drying the washing! Definitely healthier to get out for a walk 😊

Gorgeous dog. That photo made me smile - thanks.

@Purplepeoniesdroppingpetals That gorgeous dog (and yes, he is gorgeous!!) is a guide dog in training, just 8 months old and is absolutely fabulous. No hunkering down and hiding from the world in the catwithflowers household. So much to appreciate in our world. 🐕🐾♥️

Imissmoominmama · 02/10/2022 21:23

I really want to go out tomorrow. It’s the anniversary of my mum’s death, and I wanted to go for a walk with Dad. I have Covid though.

Get out into the fresh air as much as you can- you’ll miss it when you have no choice!
