I’m not leaving the house until it gets better

Anyone care to join me? It’s a storm out there. Winter is coming. Everything is too expensive & the weather is going to shit for the next six months. I’m going to stay in my house until it’s nicer. Hiding.

@CheezePleeze did you deliberately misread what I wrote so you could disagree??

Blueeyedgirl21 · 02/10/2022 15:11

@red4321 that’s a great perspective. Sorry for your friend. But you’ve reminded me that we have to take every day as a gift. Sorry if others think that’s cheesy. But some people would kill to be able to even walk to

Blueeyedgirl21 · 02/10/2022 15:17

Sorry my post cut off

to be able to walk to the park with their kids and get an ice cream, something simple as that !

FourChimneys · 02/10/2022 15:31

Near me there are some really ancient trees. Like a PP with the buildings, I often wonder about what they have seen. It puts things into perspective very nicely.

The "little blue dot" is worth looking up if you don't know it.

Maireas · 02/10/2022 15:48

Just think, not that long ago, the pandemic started and we were all so bewildered and anxious! Hopefully most of us got through it safely 🤞

WeeblesWibbleWobble · 02/10/2022 15:56

Sunny here 19 degrees. Washing drying. Kids in garden.
I hate the rain. Makes me miserable

almondflake · 02/10/2022 15:59

It's a beautiful day here, been to a local country park with the dogs ,it was full of other people enjoying the autumn sunshine 🌞

AquaticSewingMachine · 02/10/2022 16:05

Sounds like the last thing you need is to hole up in the house. Your mental health will be so much better if you switch off the media, change up your environment, spend some time in nature and some human contact.

TokyoTen · 02/10/2022 16:22

You're going g to be inside a long time then!

waterlego · 02/10/2022 16:26

I often get the urge to hibernate but recognise that it doesn’t do me much good. I sat on the beach earlier with my dog, a cup of tea and a doughnut in the sunshine. Was blissful. Got to try and be in the moment as often as we can.

It was gorgeous here in the north east this morning. A little grey now but a nice breeze for drying the washing! Definitely healthier to get out for a walk 😊

Beautiful

This thread is lovely. Nice to appreciate things

maranella · 02/10/2022 16:31

What? There's no storm here - it's a beautiful autumn day!

Trp · 02/10/2022 16:35

I I feel where you're coming from, I struggle with sad and depression a lot towards the end of the year and I feel like that a lot just wanting to hole up inside. It took me so long to get uo this morning as I was thinking what's the point with the utterly shit weather, its been crap the past couple of days with the wind and rain.

BUT, you have to go out at least once a day even if you hate it, I've been there, done that, got the agoraphobia t-shirt where I didn't go out in months and months! one day becomes two then a week etc and it becomes harder and harder. Staying inside is terrible for your MH.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/10/2022 16:40

Beautiful day here. And we've already spent to much time in doors during covid.

ThreeRingCircus · 02/10/2022 16:50

We spent this morning inside and we were all grumpy and felt miserable, kids arguing, DH and I bickering etc.

It's a beautiful day so we decided to go for a cup of tea and slice of cake at a café, then we didn't fancy coming back home immediately so took DDs to the park and the sun was shining so much we walked down to the riverbank and watched boats pootling up and down.

Then came home re-energised and the children helped me plant some daffodil bulbs that I look forward to seeing in spring.

If I'd stayed home on the sofa I'd have felt lethargic and grumpy all day but a little bit of fresh air and time outside the house made us all feel a million times better and suddenly I had more energy to do things. Just get outside OP, at least for 30 minutes and it may turn into more. It's beautiful out there.

Heyahun · 02/10/2022 16:59

na gonna enjoy what’s left of my life tbh instead of wasting it at home

Tumbleweed101 · 02/10/2022 17:03

I like October, it doesn't usually get too cold until after bonfire night here. This weekend we've done a lovely autumn walk and today I planted some winter/early spring flowering plants. Making the most of it before the cold weather sets in. I might hibernate with you from mid November though.

I see what you mean but I do like going outside so won't be joining you but you should do whatever makes you feel better! You do you and take care.

Anything could be round the corner op.
Could he diagnosed with cancer next week and only be given a year to live.
You have one life and every day you are here is a privilege not afforded to many who deserved longer.
I know a little boy who has recently died of cancer age 6. What he and his family would have done with just a few more months of health.
Dont waste a drop.enjoy the simple things and the beauty in the small every day sights sounds and smells outside.
There is even beauty in a storm.

Absolutely this.

Gorgeous dog. That photo made me smile - thanks.

pigsDOfly · 02/10/2022 17:28

Hiding away at home is a sure fire recipe for depression.

It's been warm and sunny here today. Lovely day for a walk with my lovely dog.

I live on my own but fortunately, having my dog mean I need to be out every day, regardless of the weather and walking is great for your mental and physical health.

I'm recovering from Covid and each time I go for walk I feel a little bit better.

Being outside means you get to interact with other people as well, neighbours say hello, children stop and chat, which is also good for your mental health.

Nothing I like better than wrapping up in waterproofs and wellies and having a walk in the rain so unless it's a particularly violent storm it needn't stop you going out.

Get out and about OP it'll do you good.

AuntieMarys · 02/10/2022 17:29

That's so depressing

God, you are so right. Great post - thank you. I needed to hear this.

Softplayhooray · 02/10/2022 17:32

You do you OP, our opinions don't matter. There's only one that does, and that's yours 🙂

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 02/10/2022 17:49

I sometimes feel like this but today we went for a walk and it was lovely. The woods are very good for mental health. Plus I have to go out to work
