I'm surprised no one has mentioned root beer, which is a very aquired taste.

I love root beer !

Liquid germolene !

Hohofortherobbers · 01/10/2022 19:29

What's that? A Bloody Marine-y Grin

Haha, that's what I'm going to call them from now on! 😄

ironingboredrefusal · 01/10/2022 22:41

animals. I regret not going vegan much sooner.

Frith2013 · 01/10/2022 22:43

Tripe

The worst thing ever was a chestnut that had gone mouldy. I could still taste it the next day.

TheNestedIf · 01/10/2022 23:07

I'm a big offal, seafood and goat fan, so I'm looking at a lot of these posts and thinking "I'd really enjoy that.". I've even eaten durian sweets and gone back for seconds.

The worst thing I've ever eaten are lotus crisps. Like mutant Hula Hoops sprayed with Impulse.

largeprintagathachristie · 01/10/2022 23:08

Carp.

Hohofortherobbers · 02/10/2022 08:34

I remember being served fish of the river in a clay pot in Vietnam, I assume it was catfish. It was really muddy tasting, I expect carp is like that?

quirkychick · 02/10/2022 16:07

Good to see I'm not the only one who has mentioned Beanboozle beans and tripe! 🤮

I am quite an adventurous eater, I like seafood, game and goat's cheese (though, I can see what people dislike, all of those have quite distinct tastes). I also really like Clamato and would love it in a Bloody Mary! I like strong cheeses but not blue cheese - a horrible memory of gnocchi in gorgonzola cream sauce which made me very sick doesn't help!

Sea urchins are absolutely delicious

Nooooooo !!!

🤮🤮🤮

DustyMaiden · 21/04/2023 12:16

Tripe definitely, and MILs gravy she made with Nescafé.

Highdaysandholidays1 · 21/04/2023 12:22

Tete de veau (Veal/Calf's brains). Had to remove it from my mouth, couldn't actually swallow it.

Feel much the same about eels.

Have managed to swallow snails, oysters (mouthful of seawater anyone?) but hate them.

JoanThursday · 21/04/2023 12:23

Another one for American chocolate - horrible.

On hols in NYC, I was asked if I wanted grits with my breakfast. Why not, I thought. Oh my word. Disgusting.

Mind you, that's the same holiday where we were served warm apple pie, whipped cream and, er, bacon for breakfast in Maine 🤨

Love goats cheese though.

augustusglupe · 21/04/2023 12:23

Lychees for dessert at a Chinese restaurant in Sierra Leone in 1978. I was only 14 and always wanted pud, so rather than have nothing I had the lychees 🤢
I've never tasted one since so wouldn't know if they're really that bad.

Oysters in Barbados, which tasted lovely, but I was ill for 11 days and lost a stone, so definitely one of the worst things. That was March 2010 and I've never touched one since.

Highdaysandholidays1 · 21/04/2023 12:25

I love lychees! But it is a texture thing, and my children hate them.

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 21/04/2023 12:45

Chinese Tea Egg. Was a student cultural event at work and had to be respectful and polite but it made me heave. I felt like a had an insight into being a member of the Royal Family that day!

katscamel · 21/04/2023 14:01

The first time I tried root beer was from Macdonalds when I was probably about 8.... tasted like antiseptic.... over the years grew to like it though.
Love goats cheese.....

One thing I thing I cant stand.... baked beans. The texture, the taste the smell....even washing up something they've been in/on.... 🤢

sashh · 22/04/2023 05:53

Another vote for durian fruit.

And root beer - I agree it's like germoline, not that I have tasted germoline but that's how I imagine it would taste.

@searchingformiracle

I will swap you picolax for durian fruit.

RobinHumphries · 22/04/2023 07:06

Parsnips

Workinghardeveryday · 22/04/2023 09:56

I went to Toby carvery at Easter and put the ‘Dauphinoise Potato’s’ on my plate.

They did not look like the standard Dauphinoise potatoes, no creamy sauce, looked more tomato and watery. I asked the guy serving what they were and he confirmed Dauphinoise pots.

It has been a very long time since I have tasted anything so disgusting. I had to spit it out into a napkin discreetly. It had a very potent flavour which I would love to know what in order to never make the mistake of tasting it again!!

Oldraver · 22/04/2023 10:01

The rancid chicken from Waitrose last week

Wasn't sure of the smell as I didn't know what Korean flavouring was supposed to be like

But yea, one mouthful and it was definitely rancid, DS2 and I spat it out, DS1 are and agreed it was off

Could taste it for ages after and assumed it was all in my mind until I flossed and found a bit stuck 🤮

Deathraystare · 22/04/2023 13:32

Parsnips/swede/turnips/kohlrabi/Jerusalem artichoke. That sweet earthy taste. Not over fond of sweet potato and Butternut squash either. But I like beetroot.

Oh and those ghastly zero noodles.

Deathraystare · 22/04/2023 13:34

Also had a foul bloody Mary in Vietnam. They seem to put sugar in everything. It was like a tomato milk shake. The server was horrified when I asked for soy sauce to put in it!
