Salty liquorice is like chewing the road.

Cold lamb's brain in a salad in Syria. Beat that!

Sheep's brains in an omelette?
The soft soft texture 😱

Vetoncall · 30/09/2022 23:53

The worst thing ever was a drink - when I moved to Canada DP's friends had a barbecue and insisted on making me a Caesar cocktail even though I knew I'd hate it. They're made with vodka, Worcestershire sauce, tabasco sauce and Clamato juice which is what it sounds like - a mix of tomato and clam juice 🤢🤢 It's sold in every Canadian supermarket. To make it worse, the rim of the glass is dipped in celery salt and a stick of celery is stuck in it. I took one sip out of politeness and gagged, I couldn't help it, it was like spicy, tomatoey water from a marine fish tank - one which had maybe malfunctioned and killed all the fish. I didn't want to be impolite but I wouldn't have taken another mouthful of it if they'd offered me a thousand dollars. DP thought my reaction was hilarious and got rid of it for me, the hosts were shocked that I didn't like it 😄

shatteredmum1 · 30/09/2022 23:58

Cuttlefish. Very unpleasant indeed.

ChaToilLeam · 01/10/2022 00:25

I have eaten many weird things including squirrel and salty licorice, and been fine. But I can’t eat:
obvious eggs - cake is okay, but not scrambled or fried or quiche 🤮
goat cheese or yoghurt, it all tastes like goats smell
blue cheese, why eat loudly food? 🤮
Hersheys chocolate, what a disappointment

ChaToilLeam · 01/10/2022 00:26

Sorry, why eat mouldy food!

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 01/10/2022 00:39

@Vetoncall love the description. I imagined that’s what they tasted like, so have avoided them. And the orange juice/beer combo …

@Doormice aaah Pripsen 🤢🤢

Another vote for Durian here. The fact that you can smell it a mile off should have been sufficient warning. I was told it tasted better than it smelled. That was a lie. Bastard stuff repeated on me for hours as well!

PauliesWalnuts · 01/10/2022 00:47

Brown cheese from Norway. Never again - it tasted like cheesy Caramac.

FatMog · 01/10/2022 00:54

Those pp who said Sea Urchins if you go to Borough Market in London on a Saturday morning there is a fish stall selling sea urchins fresh. They are doing a roaring trade because the queue is mostly made up of East Asians, and they love them!

I eat with my eyes Envy (not envy)

UnwantedOpinionBelow · 01/10/2022 01:04

A century egg or chicken and pigs feet

BarrelOfOtters · 01/10/2022 07:02

Oh god yes, sea urchin….just couldn’t get beyond the first bite. My Japanese friend hoovered it up. Like a fishy snail .

Anything cooked by my ex mil. Gravy was gravy salt mixed with hot tap water poured over veg from a pressure cooker that had been cooked for 4 hours...

What is it with ex MIL? I once mentioned to mine I loved mashed potatoes with loads of butter. Forever on I got partially cooked potatoes mashed with a fork with so much MARGARINE it was almost liquid. Her cooking was so bad my ex SIL used to pour vinegar over EVERYTHING to make it more palatable. Unfortunately I hate vinegar!!

polkadotpixie · 01/10/2022 08:14

Either a rotten egg Beanboozled jelly bean or an M&S black truffle chocolate, both so vile I was genuinely heaving and almost vommed 🤮

polkadotpixie · 01/10/2022 08:16

Oh or this Malaysian durian fruit toffee someone got me to try once, it was truly vile...tasted like a cross between tarmac and decay 🤮

polkadotpixie · 01/10/2022 08:22

Actually I'm going to add Plenvu pre-colonoscopy bowel prep to my list...absolutely rank. It was like drinking a litre of salty mango flavoured demon cum, both flavour and consistency

Bring back Moviprep...I thought that was bad but after Plenvu, all was forgiven!

What's that? A Bloody Marine-y Grin

A fishy snail? Noted, I will NEVER eat this, thank you x

Bestcatmum · 01/10/2022 19:40

Jellied eels, absolutely disgusting, slime with bones.

BearSoFair · 01/10/2022 20:44

Pork chops DH cooked when we hadn't been together very long. Never had meat so tough before or after. If we'd soled our shoes with them they'd probably still be going strong now! Over 20yrs on we still compare all bad dinners to those chops.

And yes to goats cheese. Tastes how a farm smells.

Banana2079 · 01/10/2022 21:29

Matcha
tripe
green tea
meatless burger
parmesan
goats cheese and milk

Banana2079 · 01/10/2022 21:31

Sea urchins are absolutely delicious

FleeUpFreeTime · 01/10/2022 22:05

Sperm - I actually gagged , the man was incessant, it was nasty

any fat on meat is grim too

greenacrylicpaint · 01/10/2022 22:07

oh yea, a vividly green tea at an asian stand at a food festival.
tasted of fish, and not in a good way.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned root beer, which is a very aquired taste.

OP posts:
Myotherdogsaballboy · 01/10/2022 22:14

I love root beer with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
