Mussels, the texture makes my skin crawl.

Watchthesunrise · 29/09/2022 19:35

Tripe

Calandor · 29/09/2022 19:36

Raw jellyfish covered in chilli sauce. It was just mildly ocean tasting but then gelatinous and spicy. Minging.

newtb · 29/09/2022 19:36

Marron bone jelly - os à moelle
Calf's head - tête de veau with or without its sauce gribiche
Heart from any animal
Andouille and andouillette

Can eat gizzards, frog's legs, liver, kidneys, snails and tripe, no problem, but the above... beurk !

Watchthesunrise · 29/09/2022 19:37

oh and any kind of french terrine makes me barf, just looking at it let alone smelling it

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 29/09/2022 19:37

Bone marrow at a fancy restaurant. Just no.

Pumpkinpatchlookinggood · 29/09/2022 19:37

Anything cooked by my ex mil. Gravy was gravy salt mixed with hot tap water poured over veg from a pressure cooker that had been cooked for 4 hours...

Goat chees s

Yes. I can eat all sorts of strong cheese based on cows' milk, but goat cheese turns my stomach. It's a shame because I always feel I ought to like it.

Figrolls14 · 29/09/2022 19:38

Soused chicken foot

cookiecreammmpie · 29/09/2022 19:39

Goat milk. Just tasted like pure goat. And polenta. My dad bought some once because he had seen it on a cooking show. He sliced it and grilled it for like 2 seconds. It was burnt on top and raw inside. It was like rubber.

American chocolate. Literally tastes like vomit

This, more specifically Hershey's kisses. I don’t understand how anyone could eat them.

Figrolls14 · 29/09/2022 19:40

Another vote for andouille and andouillette from me

Sestriere · 29/09/2022 19:40

Bone marrow and urchins, both in Sydney. no reflection on Sydney.

greenacrylicpaint · 29/09/2022 19:41

cultkid · 29/09/2022 19:20

Goat chees s

I thought the same until I tried mature goats gouda.
that was rather nice.

Stilton ice cream. Disgusting 🤢

Tootlingalong · 29/09/2022 19:48

Octopus tentacle tapas in Spain, there is just something very wrong with the texture of it, especially the jelly bit sandwiched in the middle 🤢

hadtochangetothisone · 29/09/2022 19:49

Refugee camp. Burmese border (for context Aid worker)

Something that 'smelt wrong' musty..

Tuned out to be some kind of ape...

CosilyRosily · 29/09/2022 19:49

Hákarl - Icelandic fermented shark. Couldn't look a prawn in the face for about 6 months after trying some

DogInATent · 29/09/2022 19:49

Andouillette have had a couple of mentions, they're definitely an acquired texture and taste. I found the texture the most off-putting. The smell definitely has a hint of the colon about it ("shredded intestine", as someone put it, is disguising which end of the intestine is involved). Not unpleasant, as sausages go. Wouldn't call it disgusting.

If you want disgusting, you should try Kirsty's Vegan Mac'n'Cheese from the supermarket freezer aisle. That's truly awful.

Zelda93 · 29/09/2022 19:51

Tobacco flavoured ice cream - it tasted like an ashtray and smelled like an old pub carpet!! Oh and whitebait that's disgusting too !!

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 29/09/2022 19:53

The salmon paste pasta from Jack Monroe’s book. Sorry Jack, that one was nasty as fuck.

Agree on Hersheys.

But I am rapidly understanding that I have quite an unadventurous palate compared to some of you!

Yes, accidentally ordered it on a crepe in France. I eat virtually everything but really couldn't get this down.

keepingwarm5623 · 29/09/2022 19:55

@habibihabibi American chocolate has butyric acid in it which gives it that sicky taste.

keeprunningupthathill · 29/09/2022 19:56

Hohofortherobbers · 29/09/2022 19:17

Hate snails too, it's the texture, which is exactly as you expect it should be and should not be on your mouth Envy not envy

I love snails! Must be really garlicky though.

Takingturnstogether · 29/09/2022 19:59

Whale blubber. Like fat exploding in your mouth.

Raw smoked lamb.

I don't eat meat now.
