This is new.

Am perturbed by these events.

What’s next? Prepare me.

Cardigans. That's what happens next - you form an affinity with cardigans.

Your powder dusts, settles and highlights the hairs growing out your chin Grin

...And neck! Especially the really long ones that you haven't noticed in your regular tweezing sessions.

Somehow I don't have crows feet but it's happening to me with the '11's. I'm investigating Botox...

I had really bad 11's got Botox once about two years ago and they've never come back. Would totally recommend!

waterlego · 29/09/2022 13:15

I’ve got bad 11s. I had Botox and it made no difference 😫

Your pubes go grey

Do they really? What about arm and leg hairs? What about armout hair?

After forty, foundation makes you look worse instead of better. Don't waste time in the world of tinted moisturisers, light coverage, natural finish etc. It's all lies. Unless you want to look like tippex on sandpaper, just use fake tan, skincare and cream blusher.

You can use a nice quality powder, but avoid areas like this. So I wipe an expensive powder upwards on my face but avoid areas with wrinkles. You can't see the wrinkles under my eyes as long as there's no powder. Thankfully I don't have dark circles and can leave them bare.

Have to adjust. Only ever do what makes you look fresh and youthful.

womblesofwimbledon5 · 29/09/2022 13:47

I just tried Revolution Tinted Moisturiser as my daughter told me I look better without foundation- god knows how as I have awful skin, but she did tell me that in the summer when I had a tan! Anyway it looks lovely and doesn’t sink into Lines. Skin feels lovely and dewy

Zippedydoo123 · 29/09/2022 13:56

I use Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation and it looks fine in my late fifties. Though I have few wrinkles.

Is it ok to not look youthful? I can’t seem to manage it 😂

I think you're right, at 46 I've just got the hang of a decent skin care routine which has improved my naked skin hugely, and with a lash lift and eyebrow shape/tint I'm suddenly swaning around make up free looking better than I have in years with slap on.

I've ordered some Aran yarn to crochet my own cardi. Sorry not sorry.

I'll add more nasal hair, sadly. Was it Maureen Lipman who wrote something about how unfair it is that these hairs start sprouting in new places just as your eyesight gets too bad to spot them.

Ooh yes I've experienced this, the fading eyesight combined with the stealthy advance of facial hair.

I thought I was keeping on top of my personal grooming ok despite my fading eyesight but for a little assistance I bought a x5 magnifying mirror. It was horrific. My first thought was "who on earth is that old woman"? Followed half a second later by the crushing realisation that it was me.

And after a closer look I found my nasal hair was flourishing so well it had escaped it's nostril boundaries and was growing across that bit under my nose.

It had actually managed to join up in the middle.

I reckon I was a week away from being Mario.

RudsyFarmer · 29/09/2022 16:17

Boob hair.

Leakingroofagain · 29/09/2022 18:23

Boob hair, chin hair, nose hair and wirey hair everywhere else is normal life for those of us with PCOS. Just thank the stars you're only just experiencing it now.

You wake up one morning and find that someone has removed your lips in the night and replaced them with a drawstring encircling your mouth.

MintyGreenDreams · 29/09/2022 18:32

Don't agree with foundation looking shit after 40.Im 42 and armani luminous silk is brilliant over a good primer.Doesnt look cakey or mask like at all.

Softplayhooray · 29/09/2022 18:52

Don't use foundation it's grim! Like concrete for the face!

TheOGCCL · 29/09/2022 18:58

Foundation causes so many sins. Mask like. Young people cover up their natural glow. Bad shade matches, tide marks, sitting on the skin, highlighting pores and wrinkles. People looking yellow, orange, grey, dusty, sweaty. Caked on, making spots worse, also highlighting them. Unnatural. Collar marks. I think it only really looks nice in editorial photographs. Most people are better off without it, or use it sparingly with a wet sponge just in the places you actually need it.

Not just me then, phew!

I have rosacea so I use Rosalique to correct colour and then some loose powder. Boots No7 Stay Perfect foundation if it's a special occasion and I want to look more "done", with a bit of concealer under eyes and mascara.

I don't notice too much settling into wrinkles of anything but my eyesight is terrible so may be missing it 😂 Give it a few more years OP and if you squint at yourself in the mirror without your glasses you can make yourself look 20 again.

Thetimestheyareachangingdude · 29/09/2022 19:27

@theemmadilemma What is your skincare routine?

Thetimestheyareachangingdude · 29/09/2022 19:29

This was the first thing to show with me at around 38, I was shocked by how deep they were.
44 now, the number 11 between brows is there a little, forehead still not that lined (miraculously) I have wiry, grey bits in eyebrows if I don’t get them done and have just started having to dye my hair as the greys are coming in now 😫
I use a tinted moisturiser as I feel my skin needs *Something…what else can we use? 🤷🏻‍♀️

theemmadilemma · 29/09/2022 19:56

Thetimestheyareachangingdude · 29/09/2022 19:27

@theemmadilemma What is your skincare routine?

Night: The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, Pixi Glow Tonic (exfoliating toner), Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Face Moisturiser

Nothing expensive.

In the AM I just wipe my face over with a wash of mineral water with a few drops of lavender and tea tree oil, and I'm now adding in L'Oreal Revitalift Filler day to see how that goes.

With just the night routine I looked better in a couple of weeks. My skin tone is vastly improved. I feel good face naked!!

jackstini · 30/09/2022 08:29

@spookyjupy - leg and arm hairs a bit blonder and sparser but not grey yet!

Hand skin more wrinkled 😩

Northernsoullover · 30/09/2022 08:33

As long as I use a concealer on the broken veins around my nose I can get away without foundation. My eyebrows have disappeared. I don't know why I have never plucked them. So my make up routine consists of concealer, and draw on eyebrows. Full make up makes me look like Barbara Cartland at 50 😕
