This morning my foundation ‘set’ into my crows feet.

This is new.

Am perturbed by these events.

What’s next? Prepare me.

Better skincare,
Less or no foundation.
Botox is the bomb. I get half doses around my crows feet.

Cazziebo · 30/09/2022 08:57

I need foundation though! My hyperpigmentation is really bad so I need some coverage.

I'm booked for laser therapy on Tuesday but trying not to get my hopes up that I'll emerge glowing with an even skin tone.

Gloriosity · 30/09/2022 09:03

Little bit of gradual tanner evens my face out enough to be foundation free most of the time. I put a little (clear) primer on the open pores on my nose just to blur them a bit, and then some cream blusher and clear lip gloss. Takes about 60 seconds.

Oh, and get your lashes lifted and tinted and then you don’t have to worry about mascara either!

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 30/09/2022 09:07

Heading towards 50
and find that great skincare and ditching foundation has made me look so much better.
A tiny touch of concealer, then Chanel cream bronzer, some cream blush, and mascara is all I need. Wish I’d given up the expensive battle to find the right foundation years ago!
But the chin hairs! Some are now turning white so I can’t even zap them with my lumea!

YukoandHiro · 30/09/2022 09:10

This thread has actually been good for me. All foundations give me acne but it's also a catch 22 as without foundation I look like a spotty teenager but with wrinkles.
I need to just stop.

soberfabulous · 30/09/2022 09:11

Botox and my crows feet have gone.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 30/09/2022 09:13

At 44 I currently have the twin joys of a stress-related bout of acne combined with dry wrinkly skin. I'm not quite ready to give up the foundation yet due to all the bloody blemishes. I have switched to a really light formula - Bobbi Brown Skin or Bourjois Healthy Mix - and am using it only where needed. Also started using a couple of tiny drops of facial oil for a bit of dewiness. Water/Creme blush on top.

I used to have really greasy skin and it's odd to suddenly be using entirely different formulations, but here we are.

trulyconfuseddotcom · 30/09/2022 09:17

I'm 52, gave up using foundation for daily wear a long time ago but swear by an illuminating primer for a nice dewy finish, plus a cream blusher. I use the Laura Mercier illuminating primer but there are others. Also remember to exfoliate 2-3 times a week plus drink lots of water and wear sunscreen. And a decent moisturiser.

Celticandco · 30/09/2022 11:36

I'm so identifying with the Barbara Cartland look and it's not a good one is it 🤦‍♀️. Do you just go cold turkey with ditching the foundation? Will all my friends be thanking thank god for that or where the hell as my mate gone?

Neverthecornflakegirl · 01/10/2022 15:00

I’d ditched foundation for tinted moisturiser but I can’t get that quite right. If I was to look for some tanning stuff for my face so I look a bit less corpse like what should I be looking for? (I have got to keep using concealer round my eyes as I have the Most Horrendous Black Circles ™️ known to humankind).

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 01/10/2022 19:13

@Neverthecornflakegirl I use the clarins face drops. Really natural looking. You just add a few drops to your moisturiser at night.

Blueink · 01/10/2022 20:30

Strange pillow creases that stick around for hours...(from side sleeping)
Dr Hauschka foundation is the best I've used - seems more like skincare, smoothing and doesn't cause acne and rashes as others do

MrsArrDee · 01/10/2022 20:41

Not make up related, but at 48, I can no longer thread a needle. I need my reading glasses to be able to even attempt it.

Catonthedesk · 01/10/2022 22:52

Is it easy to pick the right shade?

Sallyssn · 01/10/2022 23:11

I still do a full face when I leave the house!
I see so many washed out middle aged women these days....
Come on girls!!

I don't use any primer, but might give it a try.

I second the advice about water, sunscreen and exfoliation, and diet is very important too. My skin is looking better than ever since I've cut out most highly processed foods.

Natural skin (even if it's "washed out") looks significantly better than any foundation once there are wrinkles in the equation IMO. And on a young person, foundation just masks their youthful glow. It doesn't do anyone any favours.

I use Sensai bronzing gel, it’s a good substitute for foundation and really light.
And a bit of concealer around the eyes.

My NARS foundation for occasional use is nice but only matches my skin tone in summer, need to buy a paler one for this time of year!

Middledazedted · 02/10/2022 11:35

Am old, pale and oily. A tiny bit of double wear makes my skin look much better and and bright lips and cream bush take years off me. Very washed out and patchy without. Use retinol, pluck and dermaplane so skin is smooth ish and products go on well.

7spanishangels · 02/10/2022 13:23

Talking about nasal hair any tips for dealing with it. Tried tweezers but can’t deal with the pain and I’m not normally a wimp

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 02/10/2022 13:30

@7spanishangels - I get mine waxed. It feels like I’ve been punched in the nose - but I prefer the all in one sudden pain rather than the endless eye watering pain of plucking them.

comfortablyfrumpy · 02/10/2022 13:30

Don't despair.

It won't be long before long sight kicks in and you won't be able to see your crows' feet any more without reading glasses...

Problem solved!

caringcarer · 02/10/2022 13:34

That is why I gave up on foundation. Now lightly dust with the minerals.

What about "many washed out middle aged" men? Or are they allowed to be in public looking "washed out middle aged"? You know, because they're men? 🤔

CoastalWave · 02/10/2022 13:48

Facial hair - everywhere!!! If you spray your face with water for eg, omg, your entire face is like a little hairy cushion!

Your eyebrows suddenly look 'elderly'

Your pubes definitely migrate down your thighs (this one particularly bothers me)

user1471538283 · 02/10/2022 13:49

I've got 11s between my eyebrows so have botox and a little filler. I expected these.

What I didnt expect was old lady hands and eye drop. I've also got veins in my legs. I can pull my back or neck out so easily and if I get on the floor I cannot get back up. I struggle to get out of the sodding bath.

I used to entertain my DS when he was small with handstands and cartwheels. It seems other worldly now.
