We're having sausage butties and prosecco for the funeral

I've made a Victoria Sponge for later

My friend is having a full afternoon tea. Another is having cucumber sandwiches

Getting out the real China cups and saucers for tea at 5 o’clock.
Just fruit tea and bought fancy biscuits.

FreezyFreezy · 19/09/2022 14:34

I thought about buying since scones and clotted cream but couldn't afford it. In actual fact, we have limited food in because we have no money and our tea tonight will be freezer mix. One fish finger, anyone?

FreezyFreezy · 19/09/2022 14:34

since some

Sausagis · 19/09/2022 14:35

Well we had pot noodle. Which is pretty bloody British 😂

Willbe2under2 · 19/09/2022 14:46

We've just had a roast with all the trimmings, I rarely bother to do one so thought it would be nice. Then we've got some scones for cream tea after the service at Westminster Abbey. I've also got some coronation chicken if we fancy something else after DD has gone to bed, otherwise that will be lunch tomorrow.

dontgobaconmyheart · 19/09/2022 15:38

No, It wouldn't have occured to me.

Sniffypete · 19/09/2022 16:00

Lasagna which is what we always have on a bank holiday. Got garlic bread with it too today though.

Onceuponatimethen · 19/09/2022 16:03

Yes! The dc suggested full English. We are having roast beef dinner with Yorkshires followed by ice cream sundaes.

mondaytosunday · 19/09/2022 16:03

Considered doing an afternoon tea but no. I did have french toast and bacon for breakfast though - I last had that at Christmas!

Whoisshee · 19/09/2022 16:10

Nothing, my DH is working and I’m left with 3 very little screaming dc slowly turning me insane.. we had leftover pasta bake 🥲 really wish I had someone to watch it with 😞

Savingpeoplehuntingthings · 19/09/2022 16:15

Full English breakfast this morning and doing a roast dinner tonight.

DenholmElliot1 · 19/09/2022 16:18

Full roast dinner here and all the family round

GiantTortoise · 19/09/2022 16:18

We're having the roast beef that we would normally have had yesterday. So not an extra special meal IYSWIM.

legosunqueen · 19/09/2022 16:19

DH, me, & our Ukrainian guest (who has been here just over a week & speaks very little English) had scones with clotted cream & jam while we watched the funeral service...a bit surreal.

Lulu1919 · 19/09/2022 16:26

I made a Victoria sandwich cake ...and I never bake !!!

Bottomofthepileasusual · 19/09/2022 16:42

Tiny afternoon tea, nothing fancy but kept the DH and DD happy.

I found a re-purposed biscuit tin to fit the occasion!

woodhill · 19/09/2022 17:39

I made some scones and some relatives popped in this afternoon

Adventurine · 19/09/2022 18:41

We made Queen Elizabeth's chocolate biscuit cake.

Swg · 19/09/2022 18:54

I made a roast. Not for the queen, just because we’re stuck at home with not much to do so I might as well do a roast.

Then I decided I wasn’t wasting all that heat from the oven being on and we had fruit needing using up so now there are also multiple fruit clafoutis and cobblers to eat. I think “if oven is on then fill it” might be my rule for this winter.

InstantMagic · 19/09/2022 18:56

No, although it’s a nice idea.

I had tea and a lot of biscuits during the funeral. DH is now making fajitas.

ClottedCreamAndStrawberries · 19/09/2022 19:01

I’ve totally missed out, this never even occurred to me 😢

Crunchymum · 19/09/2022 19:02

Roast beef dinner (mainly as we didn't get a chance to have it yesterday). We had homemade cupcakes and pink lemonade earlier whilst watching the funeral. I did give the kids a proper lunch though (just humus and pitta and salad, they also had cake and lemonade!)

ChicagoBears · 19/09/2022 19:03

We had croissants and fresh berries for breakfast

Lunch was bacon sarnies and home baked Victoria sponge

Tea is baked cod and air fried chips with smashed peas.

Tried to keep it fairly British for this momentous day.

EachandEveryone · 19/09/2022 19:07

Gosh it never crossed my mind so im having whatever will go in my new air fryer. Chicken wings and Iceland wedges😃
