The Queens funeral

This is a real good guide for all the timings for tomorrow - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60617519

The bit at the end with the Lord Chamberlain will be the hardest to watch I think, signaling the end of his service to her, as will the act of separating her from her crown.

I know everyone isn't a royalist but today will be such a sad occasion.

The sand is grip for the horses surely?

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 19/09/2022 10:34

It's notorious for this. Once you are in, you are in. I think its not really an option to go...

Oh god. I'd struggle!

TokyoSushi · 19/09/2022 10:34

It is a little odd to be cheered on the way to your mother's funeral. But I can see that it's just people trying to show support.

wonderstuff · 19/09/2022 10:34

Is the san not to reduce the noise?

TugboatAnnie · 19/09/2022 10:35

Anyone else who knows London, the empty roads are fascinating to behold!

MarshaBradyo · 19/09/2022 10:35

I don’t mind the cheering

As long as they don’t do it with the Queen’s part

HansZimmerframe · 19/09/2022 10:35

cakeorwine · 19/09/2022 10:32

That applause is just wrong.

It's a funeral. Not a Coronation.

Exactly. Tacky fucking peoples makes me loose faith in society that people have no manners anymore

EtiquetteQuestion · 19/09/2022 10:35

Did anyone else spot the rather awkward moment when a woman (not sure who she is) put out her hand to be shaken as she arrived but the person doing the greetings seemed to bat her hand away. (In contrast to the people who entered immediately before and after her.)

This is going to be tough for Harry and William. 25 years ago....

And she was so young when she died.

Vapeyvapevape · 19/09/2022 10:36

Have I missed them all walking behind the coffin?

EspressoPatronumm · 19/09/2022 10:36

@Vapeyvapevape no

Have I missed them all walking behind the coffin?

Not yet. It's not been moved yet

GoodbyeLilibet · 19/09/2022 10:37

So glad it's not raining. The grey skies are suitable to the event.

Apparently the Queen lived mainly on boiled eggs in the run up to her Coronation so she wouldn't need bathroom breaks.

Benefi · 19/09/2022 10:37

Fergie!

TugboatAnnie · 19/09/2022 10:38

Glad you said that, I thought it was Fergie!

Northernlurker · 19/09/2022 10:38

It's the funeral of a life long Christian though. Somebody who absolutely embraced 'to live is Christ and to die is gain'.
The loss is awful and painful for her family but Christians believe the Queen is now in Glory and that's something to be profoundly thankful for as well.

SoupDragon · 19/09/2022 10:39

The naval ratings are all so young! (Unsurprisingly, obviously)

PolkaDotMankini · 19/09/2022 10:39

I'm watching on the BBC. The coverage is shocking. They're talking waffle, talking over eachother and missing important bits like the heads of foreign governments arriving. Only two of the white heads of government were pointed out (Trudeau and Ardern). They nearly missed the kids.

Benefi · 19/09/2022 10:39

Glad you said that, I thought it was Fergie! It wasn't, was it? 😬

loobylou10 · 19/09/2022 10:40

It was Sarah Ferguson yes

Mooserp · 19/09/2022 10:40

Yes she came in with her daughters

wonderstuff · 19/09/2022 10:40

Fergie arrived with her daughters and Lady Louise

stillherenow · 19/09/2022 10:41

I thought Princess of Wales and George and Charlotte were walking , or is that after funeral ?

TugboatAnnie · 19/09/2022 10:41

Where's Meghan and Sophie? Haven't seen them

Changingmynameyetagain · 19/09/2022 10:41

I’m watching on sky instead, can’t stand the waffle of the BBC
