I've been finding this mesmerising so thought I'd create a dedicated thread.
Saw Justin Trudeau and his wife pass through earlier.

Not sure who this lot are

So is King Charles our last monarch to be purely descended from Royalty? As William is technically half-royal and half-commoner (although obviously Diana was high born, but not Royal blood)

No, the Queen Mother was aristocracy but not Royal.

The queen mother wasn't royal so the Queen was only half royal. Prince Philip was more 'royal' as both his parents were of royal blood

Nope. Nor the current ones but the gent at the far end has an incredibly distinctive nose profile.

TugboatAnnie · 18/09/2022 22:29

Yes, very aristocratic!

Zosime · 18/09/2022 22:30

Thanks Zosime, be interesting to look at all the interconnecting family trees.

Philp's ancestry is absolutely fascinating. But you can go down so many rabbit holes once you start looking.

The Swedish king's grandmother was Queen Victoria's granddaughter. Or something like that. Princess Margaret of Connaught

Oh, Imissed her when I was looking.

So is King Charles our last monarch to be purely descended from Royalty?

No, his grandmother, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, wasn't royalty. And if you go right back to Edward IV, Elizabeth Woodville, from whom they're all descended, wasn't royalty.

Discodreams · 18/09/2022 22:31

Ah thank you.
yes the world leaders who are turning up for our little Queen on our little Island is just astonishing.

CPL593H · 18/09/2022 22:32

Diana did have direct (if illegitimate Grin) descent from Charles II on at least 2 lines. I think Fergie and Camilla do too, but I'm hazier on that.

Siella · 18/09/2022 22:43

I'm a bit addicted too. A lot of them look very weary, I saw one man supporting a woman as she was walking and stumbled and looked like she was going to collapse. It must be so exhausting to be on your feet that long.
I'm going to see what's happening now!!

Siella · 18/09/2022 22:45

Changing of the guards now.. I can see a big group of nuns waiting.

TheCheesecakeIsPoisoned · 18/09/2022 22:49

New to the thread - is anyone else slightly moved by all the people queueing? Like many I’m not really all that into the monarchy but respected the queen etc etc but I find it so interesting how many people want to visit and the mix of ages and ethnicities. This might just be the wine talking!

JaneJeffer · 18/09/2022 22:49

Hurrah. But is there now a queue to watch the funeral tomorrow? i heard there were tents...

Not the wine, I've found that interesting too. Elderly gents in collars and ties next to young people in ripped jeans. It's brought together people from all walks of life in a way that I can't imagine happening otherwise.

Confusedandanxiety · 18/09/2022 23:42

The policeman in the white gloves is so still, he looks like one of the cardboard cutouts that deter shoplifters!
I too have found it interesting to witness the demographic diversity of people - there's no 'type' at all.

A lady Yeoman Warder has just come on duty. On the left.

😂 I have often wondered if those police cardboard cutout's actually deter anyone

HoneyFlowers · 19/09/2022 00:14

I have sat and watched this for hours. It is fascinating.

The only thing that saddens me is one of the "staff" members has been shooo-ing the line on a bit impatiently. One woman was doing a bow and he interrupted her to move on. Thought it was rude. I'd have been so upset.

SpinCityBlues · 19/09/2022 00:19

I imagine they have been told to to keep it moving at pace to get the whole remaining 'The Queue' through by 06.30. It would be awful to be in a tail end that has queued overnight and gets turned away. There would would be twitter tears for sure.

SpinCityBlues · 19/09/2022 00:21

I'll have a look for him though @HoneyFlowers - see if I can spot him independently

SpinCityBlues · 19/09/2022 01:54

A Jerome Flynn lookalike just went through

DysonSphere · 19/09/2022 02:17

Up again. Are we back to single file. Oh it looks like there's no more people suddenly, or is it just a pause?

myteethwerefine · 19/09/2022 02:18

The end?
