What's the longest physical queue you have been in?

Obviously queue related.

I think it has to be a theme park ride. And only an hour.

I know people queue for other things, camp out over night in a queue...so what was yours? And was it worth it? Which I guess it was as you spent so long queuing

6ish hours to cross a border. Very boring

Angelofthenortheast · 17/09/2022 16:43

Arriving airport security at Luton - 2.5 hours. I ended up getting edema in my feet because I naively wore 4" heels to travel.

Butterbeer4All · 17/09/2022 16:44

2.5 hours for Hagrid's Motorbike ride at Universal. My DD and I thought it was worth it.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 17/09/2022 16:49

I think the longest was the Vatican at about 3.5hrs, though the queue for the Louvre on a free day was pretty epic too

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 17/09/2022 16:54

Four hours for Dismaland.

Worth it. Do love Bansky.

My sister queued for that too, and said it was well worth it.

Swampmonster1988 · 17/09/2022 17:32

Standing queue - probably theme park about 2 hours.
Car queue - motorway accident of 7 hours standstill.

HRTQueen · 17/09/2022 17:39

The Harry Potter ride at universal in LA for 1 1/2 hours

it was August and about 38/40 thankfully they had sprinklers. It was absolutely boiling

the ride was amazing it blew me away and I don’t even like HP. Went on again a few times right before it closed and waited about 5 minutes

border control in Vietnam I passed out from dehydration I think three hours felt like 24

lomoko · 17/09/2022 17:41

Probably passport control, yeah. Maybe 2 hours. I only queue when there's no other option at all, like, I have to go through immigration.

MovinOnUp · 17/09/2022 17:47

Around an hour and a half, Maybe two hours to see the Mona Lisa.
There was a queue for the queue to join the queue.

TooManyMoronsHere · 17/09/2022 22:03

4 hours for the Hulk ride at Universal, Orlando.

4+hours of queuing on the m25 once when there was a crash if you count that.

Reading some of these I think we've been very luck at the various Disney and universal parks we've visited over the years. We've always managed to get good fast pass tickets, and been fortunate enough to afford express tickets at times at universal. So, other than for a bran new ride, we've never really queen behind an hour. Worst queues were at Disney in Japan (business parks we've done) but even then it wasn't 2 hours plus for a ride. Phew!

Goldmember · 17/09/2022 22:08

4 hours for the Avatar ride, flights of passage at Disney world. It was a good ride but jeez, what a queue.

GyozaGuiting · 17/09/2022 22:09

2 hours in JFK airport passport control. Doesn’t sound like long, but with 2 tiny children, no air conditioning, and after a long flight, it felt a lot longer!!!
After THE queue, I guess we’ll all be grateful for anything less than 8 hours now! It’s really made me think I should be more patient in a queue!

felulageller · 17/09/2022 22:15

Days of multiple 60-90 mins queues at various theme parks. I don't mind it. Just take a book and have no shame at sitting on the ground.

I've been in long motorway queues too, hours of stop start.

Also have vague memories of hour + queues for nightclubs back in the day.

padsi1975 · 17/09/2022 22:17

Turned up around 7 am for a U2 concert back in the 90s. Didn't care that I'd have to wait 10+ hours to see them, I was OVERJOYED that I was one of first there and would get into top section. I don't remember the concert but I remember my joy at being top of queue and my joy at getting I to that coveted front section. I was about 17 or 18, didn't think twice about it. Now, I'd struggle to queue for an hour.

Intemperatefatty · 17/09/2022 22:18

3hrs hours for Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure at Universal Orlando when it first opened. It’s an amazing ride and one of my favourites but I’ll never queue that long again. This summer, we were lucky to have waited (only!) 45 mins. I’m hoping once they open Epic Universe that they will finally include Hagrid’s in the Express Pass system.

PauliesWalnuts · 17/09/2022 22:23

Two hours regularly for the Hacienda at its peak. Totally worth it.

Six hours for WWF tickets in the late 90’s so that my (thankfully) ex boyfriend could take his eight-year old. He’d asked if I could get three so that his ex wife could go with them but I was so pissed off by the time I got to the front I only bought two and told him I’d got the last ones. Sorry, not sorry.

FourChimneys · 17/09/2022 22:24

Four hours to see the Tutankhamen exhibition in 1972.

My mother and a friend queued for six hours to see the exhibition of Charles and Diana's wedding presents.

QueSyrahSyrah · 17/09/2022 22:24

About 3 hours for passport control in Miami airport. It was hell and I'll never fly through that airport again.

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 17/09/2022 22:35

4.5 h for the euro tunnel one hot August. Operation Stack was in full swing and all traffic was rerouted round the same roundabout

SJW0 · 17/09/2022 23:16

The Uterus. Nearly 9 bloody months before I could get out!

PollyCreo · 17/09/2022 23:24

I think queuing for nightclubs in my youth?

I live in a country now where queuing is not 'popular' but improving slowly. My friend from NI visited a few years ago (sorry if I've told this story before but it still makes me laugh). He took himself off for a day of sightseeing round all the historical sights in blistering heat and dutifully queued at the bus stop to get home. There were British and German tourists politely waiting in line when the bus turned up - all of a sudden a group of Russians barged in and tried to jump onto the bus first. Apparently the Brits and Germans looked helplessly on until my Irish friend intervened and there was 'a wee scuffle'. ie. he grabbed the 'big ignorant cunt' and threw him off the bus. There was a shocked silence followed by a round of applause 😅

Disclaimer - I do not condone violence against Russian people 😁
