What's the longest physical queue you have been in?

Obviously queue related.

I think it has to be a theme park ride. And only an hour.

I know people queue for other things, camp out over night in a queue...so what was yours? And was it worth it? Which I guess it was as you spent so long queuing

15hrs to get out of Glastonbury. It was a muddy year.

EllaPaella · 17/09/2022 23:36

3 hours to get through passport control in Spain this summer. Painful. Thanks Brexit.

I queued 3hrs for the smiler, I didn't mean to but they shut the ride when we were at the front and we kept thinking it would reopen. It was worth it but I wouldnt do it again

Traffic jams we were once stuck in fortwilliam for 12 hrs after they closed the road. That was awful but at least we could sleep and there were public toilets.

autienotnaughty · 17/09/2022 23:56

I got stuck in a 6 hour traffic jam once. I was trying to get home.

3 hours to get on Nemesis when it first launched.

SwordToFlamethrower · 18/09/2022 00:41

Actually no, all day, about 8 hours for the Oasis gig at the Manchester City ground. Got to be on the front row too :)

MadisonAvenue · 18/09/2022 00:48

Seeing Green Day at Old Trafford cricket ground, started queuing at 9.30am and the gates opened at 4pm.
Got to the front barrier though so totally worth it.

Queued for around 5 hours to see them at Wembley a few days later.

Legoland last year, 3 hours for the new Sky Lion ride.

It was supposed to be 75 minutes and we got almost to the front after that time when they announced technical difficulties/trying to fix ASAP. People started leaving after 30 minutes of the queue not moving but by that time, almost 2 hours in, you're so committed that it was just too hard to walk away and plenty of us stayed. We did get on though at 2pm after queuing from about 11am.

They gave us 2 free queue jump tickets per person anyway which did make up for it - we walked onto the next two most popular rides, saving 90 minutes queues each time.

Bowie 1978. Queued from about 12 I think.

Bottomofthepileasusual · 18/09/2022 01:25

About 5 hours at check in at Cancun Airport

Bonjovispjs · 18/09/2022 01:37

5 and a half hours to watch the live recording of Saturday Night Takeaway, don't think I'll be applying for tickets again.

4 hours to get on 'Soarin' when it first opened at Epcot. I thought I was going to die and be buried in that queue.

Me too! That was one queue I wish I'd never joined.

Lurleene · 18/09/2022 01:46

About 3.5 hours to take DD to meet Jacqueline Wilson at a book signing event. It took so long as she made the time to have a short but sweet conversation with everyone in the queue. It was totally worth it, DD was absolutely thrilled, a lovely memory.

tallullabluebella · 18/09/2022 03:21

Around 7/8 hours
Straight from a nightclub shift into an overnight queue outside a record shop for festival tickets, then straight to my other job an hour later than i should have started.
Wasn't planned so none of us were prepared or dressed appropriately.
Easily done in my early 20s, the stuff of nightmares now!

Kiopa · 18/09/2022 03:44

I've queued overnight for Wimbledon tickets, so probably about 10 hours. It's very civilised though - we had a pop up tent, sleeping bags and roll mats, and ate pizzas!

Andylion · 18/09/2022 03:44

17 and a half hours to buy Springsteen tickets in 1985.

Clawdy · 18/09/2022 07:47

Just over one hour to get into Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam, some years ago. Well worth it.

pastapestoparmesan · 18/09/2022 07:59

A few hours for Wimbledon. For me, there has to be a balance between time in the queue and time of the thing you’re queuing for, ie the thing should last longer than the queue.

Glittertwins · 18/09/2022 08:22

3hours in the queue for Smiler at Alton Towers. They closed the ride whilst we already well in and then only had half the cars running.
