Obviously he deserves it - and so much more - for what he put that poor girl through, but why did he get a whole life sentence rather than just a life sentence with a fixed term?

As j recall from the Emma Kenney documentary, it was basically from CCTV he didn't appear to makexany attempt to disguise his appearance and being London there was CCTV everywhere, he was also caught very quickly .

Just watched it and you are right.

They had tons of CCTV, especially from the buses that drove past. The CCTV from the buses recorded him with Sarah and they could see the licence plate of the hire car.

So they identified really quickly.
Then, he used his bank card to buy the stuff and also kept his phone on him, so they could track him and see where he went.

He didn't attempt to conceal what he gad done.

Life without parole, is deserved.

Would certainly save costs on judges, juries, due process, lawyers, etc.

How do you figure that out? The person who committed the crime would still have to have a trial which would require judges, juries, lawyers etc etc.

TheWayoftheLeaf · 16/09/2022 20:46

Because he tricked her using his police credentials making it heinous. Plus he planned it out, has signs he'll do it again, disposed of the body in a thought out way etc.

All extraneous circumstances. Also.... to be an example to other police. Don't try or you'll never see the light of day.

A life sentence is 35 years isn't it? Therefore a whole life sentence is literally til the end of your life.

EL8888 · 16/09/2022 21:10

@x2boys yeah, he gave a totally lame and ridiculous explanation

Rebelmcstreettuff · 16/09/2022 21:10

@x2boys
Thanks,that explains why.

Relevanceiskey · 16/09/2022 21:10

Not sure if it has anything to do with this, but my husband told me they are changing the ways or have recently changed the ways they sentence the worst crimes. You can no longer be released after only serving half your sentence. Which is great! Although that may not apply here so don't take my word for it

MrsSkylerWhite · 16/09/2022 21:11

Sorry mate but what a stupid question.

it ought to be why do others who commit the same crime not get the same sentence.

I'm really not sure of your motive, given the title of your thread. It reads as in his favour. You do know that, yes? For an explanation of a whole life sentence, see above.

Onceuponatimethen · 16/09/2022 21:15

@MrsSkylerWhite well it’s not really a stupid question is it? Judges spend a long time deciding whether people deserve a whole life sentence or not.
