Do you regularly run out of milk, bread, cereal etc?

Strange question but we get our shopping weekly and at some point we run out of these things before replacing them. As far as I'm concerned this is normal life but 16 year old ds1 gets moody and annoyed about this. Are me and dh idiots for not getting 'on top' of this problem or is he just a moody teen? I know this seems very petty but he's driving me mad at the moment🙄

No because we buy more as it is about to run out.

We don't tend to run out of milk, but bread or cereal, yes. Not both though - one or the other depending on what's in the house. There's always milk for tea/coffee and something in for breakfast but it might not be people's first choice.

No. I keep milk and bread frozen - because who needs a shop run before their first proper coffee and toast.

Freezing the milk is such a brilliant idea! I usually do a late week milk dash and this would save me time.

You shouldn't be running out. Either buy more with the weekly shop or get more when you know it's running low, depending on storage space. This is just poor planning.

@inappropriateraspberry

what’s the issue?

op Can just get another loaf or whatever if run out or better still her son can get it

it’s no issue and no disaster

dont get why some people on here are acting as if it is to be honest

@LuckySantangelo35 Did I say it was an issue or disaster? No. Just printed out that if it's a regular problem then they need to adjust what they do to prevent it happening again.
It's not a disaster, but is very annoying!

I'm amazed at all the organised people here. I'm constantly running out of food. I'll do a huge shop for the week with a meal plan but it's all the extras that disappear really quickly.

Milk/bread always run out. I have 4 teenagers who will devour a box of cereal in 15 mins. Fruit is impossible to keep on top of. The day before yesterday, I bought 15 bananas, 12 apples, 6 pears and 2 tubs of grapes. I have ONE banana left...

I have to hide the crisps for packed lunch or else they'll all be gone by the end of the shop day.

I need to get more organised but I work full time with an extra hobby job on top. We also need a chest freezer. I completely blame the teenagers - they are sporty, growing like crazy and constantly hungry.

We do live close to an aldi so it's really easy to do top ups.

It's hard to keep on top of it all with teens, especially if there is literally nowhere to keep the quantity of food they get through in a week and no room for a freezer. Boys in particular have hollow legs.

I didn't let my DCs snack on breakfast cereal. Most of it was empty carbs.

@losenotloose if you regularly run out of certain items before the end of the week, why not buy extra of those items?

If you have room to store extra milk, bread, and cereal, buy more when you shop? Do a clear out of the fridge and freezer and see if you can create space.
