What temp will you set your heating at this Winter?

I usually set mine to a toasty 22 degrees as I'm always cold and loooove a warm house.
Obviously with the cost of heating I'll need to reasses, thinking maybe 20 but hubby says 18. What temperature do you think is comfortable during Autumn/Winter and what temperature will you be setting your heating at??

Between 9 and 21.5 depending on the time of day. Same as last year.

18 from 6-8am and 6-10pm. Off otherwise.
but I’ll often boost an hour to 20 if we’ve got wet outside or someone’s feeling too cold.

Same as last year: I'm menopausal so will be flicking the dial down to 17 every time I walk past it then DH will flick it back up to 21 every time he walks past. Repeat approx 7 times each evening. 1st rule of thermostat war is "never refer to thermostat war."

No idea how warm our house is, was or will be. We have storage heaters. The hall one broke a couple of years ago. So will only have the sitting room one running. Will leave the kitchen one off unless it gets super cold. Both my kids hate warm bedrooms, so no heating on most winters.

We use an oil filled plug in heater in our room. My DH hates a cold bedroom.

Eastern Scotland, so it does get cold. No wood burner either.

I've got nest thermostat, I had heating on an hour yesterday. First time. It's not too cold out but it felt miserable inside. I had it on at 17.5. Upstairs became toasty very quickly. I try not to go above 18c in winter and I have a log burner too.

Set at 17 now and off at night. We will be going to bed earlier!

HappyAsASandboy · 30/10/2022 08:13

I have it set at 16° all the time. If we feel cold, I check the thermostat and if it's below 18° turn it in for two hours aiming for 20° (it won't get there!) and if it's above 18° I put another jumper on!

Set to 18 when we need it but off overnight. To those who set very high (imo 22+), you realise the energy crisis is a supply issue right? Just because you can afford to pay for it, doesn’t mean there’s magically more energy. It’s a finite supply.

berksandbeyond · 30/10/2022 08:29

When we put it on we usually set it to 21.
Haven't had it on this year yet.
I think we probably will this week though - it's to be rainy all week and always feels colder on those days.
We are in the SE.

We have ours set to 18 for a couple of hours in the morning and the same for a couple of hours in the evening. That was our previous house, which was less energy efficient than this one, so that might change when we do put it on.

We don’t have it on at night because it gives me headaches.
