Anyone else feel Kate was born to be a royal?

Watching the Queen's coverage all week & Kate looks like she was born for the role. (Also please don't turn this into a Meghan bashing thread, Meghan is equally beautiful & elegant but has chosen to be a non working royal which is why this thread is about Kate).
Even looking back at old school photos she looked so poised & elegant. She had an idyllic childhood, supportive parents & is doing a wonderful job in her new role.

This is quite silly, and is quite a misogynistic take. You really think that from her early years she decided to marry William, then made 1000 small decisions that put her in his path? The old 'she got her claws into him' shtick is still alive and well.

Agree, OP, I like her in the role. She behaves with dignity and decorum in public, her children seem great, she has an excellent close, loving relationship with her own family, and appears to get on well with members of the royal family. I get the feeling her role is about to get a whole lot bigger, and I think she will move into it admirably.

But then I'm an old gimmer and prefer stiff upper lip, least said, soonest mended and better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt. I can't bear all the mopping and mowing, weeping and wailing and emoting all over the place that now seems to be what is expected of everyone.

She obviously gets the stiff upper lip from the Middletons, the amount of abuse they got for years & they never retaliated.

I think she is great, I don't want to hear about their personalities and opinions. I want them to rock up,do their job and smile and she does this beautifully. I also like the fact she doesn't make a huge thing about fashion , she has a working uniform and it's boring but then we shouldn't really be focusing on what she wears like we did with Diana. There's absolutely no chance she'll put a foot wrong or write a tell all book or go on Oprah either- not a dig, that's just a fact.

I don't dislike Kate as such but I'm extremely unimpressed by how little she's actually done since she married in

She's been a baby factory. That's all that's needed.

yeah.
And kept mostly out of the way while all the fur flew over M&H.

She knows she's got decades of ''doing'' ahead of her. She's really only now climbing up the ladder of importance.

In my mind Queen and Anne have always been no.1 and no. 2.
Camilla in at no.3. But what has she 'done'? She's been married into the royal family for 16 years now. (where has that time gone!?)
Kate's no.4, been married 11 years and has been busy having the heirs.

Now she's moved up the ranks a bit. Camilla and Anne are in their 70s. Maybe we'll see Kate's public persona come out a bit more now?

Brightstar12 · 15/09/2022 14:19

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor i love her off duty style with the kids, very polished, pratical & comfortable. Of course the swishy hair helps!
Also love her country look in the barbour & wellies, would love to be able to pull that off!

I don't get the criticism of her clothes either - she always looks lovely, right from her jeans and Breton top outfits to her James Bond premier dress. When people say she dresses boringly, what would they rather she wears?

PleasantBirthday · 15/09/2022 14:21

If she was born to be a royal, she would have come out of a different vadge. That's the only qualification.

So it's ok to bash Kate but criticising Megan is hateful.
Another poster called her parasite. If grown up women ( presuming mother's) are using this language for another human being, I worry what their children might be learning.

Same posters can't tolerate even a civilized criticism of Megan and on this thread name calling is ok. Is it not hypocritical?

I think you must have me confused with another poster.

Mfsf · 15/09/2022 14:23

Yep she looks miserable , and extremely hypocrite, while keeping a perfect appearance she is exactly how a royal is expected to be .
her and William seem extremely fake imo

GoingOnce · 15/09/2022 14:23

Why are women in the RF expected to be really thin bordering on underweight?

They're not, are they?

The Queen herself was never thin. Camilla, Sophie, Zara - I don’t think of any of them as thin.

I love her dressed down more than dressed up, very envious of anyone who can look so good in jeans and a t shirt, I look thrown together like an unmade bed 🙄

White and quiet, compliant and thin. Yes.

What's she being hypocritical about? And do you expect her to be beaming at the moment?

NippyWoowoo · 15/09/2022 14:26

Good job Carole & Michael!

For what? Having a daughter marry a man?

A wealthy man?

A royal man?

None of these things are achievements

Jakers I had three children is that what constitutes a baby factory today?

I see Kate as someone over-thin (and I am slim myself), anxious and deeply unhappy

That may be how you see her, but you know nothing.

Her coat dresses are the epitome of dull. She has so many. Some have a slightly different shaped cuff etc. They emphasise her thinness. They are made bespoke and cost a fortune. I can't think of anyone who would actually go out and buy such a garment.

Rinatinabina · 15/09/2022 14:28

Feel a bit sorry for her sometimes, don’t say anything and you appear to not have any opinions, say something and everyone will object to what you just said. Ofcourse she’s got easy compared to most but y’know she must have days when she wants to eat a gallon of haagen daaz and lie around in trackies with her belly hanging out but basically can’t.

She’s got a hang of her job. I think the reason the queen was ok by most people is because no-one really felt like they knew who she was so they can project a fantasy onto her of what they think she is. I think Kate will be similar and thats a good thing for her. She’s better off not saying anything about anything. Once people think they know you they can dislike you

Yes that's what I meant by her work uniform, all the same coat dresses but in different colours, as I said, it's not a bad thing.

HilarityEnsues · 15/09/2022 14:29

It is an irony of the situation that the best royals are all people who weren't born to be royal (Kate, Sophia, anyone not actually related to them). It shows up the problem with hereditary 'born' monarchies for sure!

HilarityEnsues · 15/09/2022 14:29

Sophie, that should say. She's also delightful.

I assume this is a joke but if it’s not….

a Breton top is literally the most boring item of clothing anyone could ever own. Ever.

the JB dress was very classic and a thing of beauty, but Kate is built like a model and could wear some more daring / cutting edge stuff

The Queen and Princess Anne did/do rather well.
