Driving test tomorrow but I can’t drive

Do I cancel? There are still times (not often but at least once or twice a lesson) when my instructor has to brake for me or tell me to steer away from a parked car. My test is tomorrow. I’m not ready am I? I still can’t reliably reverse park either. I feel like crying. I have 1 hour before test tomorrow to somehow magically learn how to drive. Instructor says she thinks I’m ready. I just don’t see how.

Well done! I passed at 35, completely life changing. Now make sure you keep driving, lots of short journeys to start with and build up your confidence.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 15/09/2022 17:42

Whoop!!! Well done 🚘 🚘 🚗

Bonbon21 · 15/09/2022 17:46

Well done!!
Now you have passed... go out BY YOURSELF.. and practice... this is when you will REALLY learn..
Lots of parking and reversing in quiet corners of supermarket car parks...
Enjoy your freedom!!!

Given that you can't get your money back, you might as well give it a go. Relax and don't worry about the outcome, you are expecting to fail but the useful value will be to get the perspective of an unrelated professional who isn't your instructor. The list of minor faults will be useful to you for practicing ready for your next test. It will be useful to experience the test with someone who is a genuine examiner.

If by chance everything goes brilliantly tomorrow and with a lucky break you pass, book some advanced driving lessons anyway to polish up the skills you think you might still need to improve on.

Youremyshininglight · 15/09/2022 17:51

woohoo! I've been thinking of you today. It took me 3 goes to pass, I hated the tests! well done :)

FaazoHuyzeoSix · 15/09/2022 17:53

Oops I didn't check the date of the OP. Well done!

Daisychainsandglitter · 15/09/2022 18:07

Well done I'm really pleased for you Star

ThreeLocusts · 15/09/2022 18:18

🍾🍾🍾congratulations! I recently started driving again after a ten year hiatus, so have some idea how you feel. Nerve-wracking! Enjoy the newfound freedom.

I would go ahead tomorrow. The worst that can happen is you fail. At least you will know what the test will be like.

No the worst she could have done (haven't read to the end of the thread yet) would have been killed someone!

a lot of these posts explain why our roads are so bloody dangerous! Jesus wept,

asblindasabat · 15/09/2022 18:43

Well there you go OP, it’s just as well you didn’t cancel - well done!

I failed my first test so you did better than me!

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 15/09/2022 18:51

FelicityBeedle · 14/09/2022 23:56

People are being very harsh to you OP. From another anxious learner driver.
The person claiming her instructor only had to brake once for her is likely talking shite, or learned rurally. The ones saying driving into parked cars is ridiculous are forgetting that instructors like you to be very very far from the cars, further than most people would normally drive.
Pretend it’s not a test, just think of it as driving practice. Hopefully we both pass one day!

@FelicityBeedle

shitty to accuse everyone of lying 🙄🙄🙄

I didn't learn in a dual control car, so my instructor NEVER had to brake for me.

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 15/09/2022 19:01

@Toottootbang

🥂🍾🎂congratulations!!!

have you got a car (or one you can use)?

I hope you relax & start to enjoy it!

Im feeling OLD, I've been driving longer than you've been alive 🤣😂

BadNomad · 15/09/2022 19:02

Congratulations! My instructor told me that passing your test just gives you a licence to learn on your own. Which is very true. The real lesson begins now. It's not just your own driving you need to be aware of, it's everyone else out there on the road or near the road.

sanityisamyth · 15/09/2022 19:25

Amazing news!! Well done 🎉

Blanketpolicy · 15/09/2022 19:31

If you live anywhere near the west coast of Scotland let me know the colour and make of your car so I know to avoid you until you get to grips with the braking part! 😜🤣

Seriously though, congratulations!

toastedcat · 15/09/2022 19:36

I can't drive either but somehow passed! Good luck!

Y7drama · 15/09/2022 19:40

Amazing! Well done!

PolkaDotMankini · 15/09/2022 19:40

Congratulations OP! If you go on and do Pass Plus then you'll have more instruction time and insurers like it.
