Weird noise from neighbours empty house...

So a bit of backstory, we live in a "rough" area & I haven't seen my neighbour in over a month (6 weeks ago is when our cctv last saw her) which was also the same time someone spray painted the word "grass" on her window. I know she's involved in drugs, as most people round here are, so we assumed she had told on the local dealer and been ran out of her house. We mentioned it to the housing officer of our housing association the other day that we hadn't seen her in a while and we were concerned and she didn't know anything about it. And now in the last couple of days there's been a weird noise coming from her house - sounds like an old printer that's ran out of ink on repeat, but only at certain times of the day, and now it's a continuous humming sound like a hair dryer. I'm 100% certain she is not in that house, what the hell could the noise be?! And should I ring the non emergency police number or would they just tell me to contact the local council?

I'd maybe ask mnhq to delete this thread especially given your username is very outing, in case there is anything dodgy going on in that house.

I'm not too worried about the thread, I don't think anyone round here other than myself is on mumsnet 😁

I’d be worried about the risk of a boiler explosion, OP.
Sorry to sound so dire but god knows how safe it really is and with those noises coming from the house, I wouldn’t feel at ease.

Im a bit worried about that too, there's no noise tonight so I'll see if it happens again 😬

Wasps nest? I have one in my wall and the noise is very strange, like humming/ pulsing.

Now that you know she’s safe it might be worth mentioning your concerns about the noise to the housing people just in case it is the boiler or something.

This has made me chuckle 🤭 according to Mumsnet the Ops neighbour entered and never left, hydroponic equipment was smuggled in (unseen) and a weed crop was being grown but it was orderless!!
I haven't RTFT but I'm sure somewhere somewhere someone would have mentioned Madeline McCann being hid in there and fracking being undertaking in the cella!!
All that's needed now that it's been realised that it was sod all is to organise a welcome home party for 50 with just a Morrisons £2.99 chicken and some salad bits! 🙈
Nothing wrong with the OP looking out for her neighbour's obviously but Christ!

The weed theory is quite likely tbh, a known dealer lives in the house next door to her and he's always sneaking about in the middle of the night. I wouldn't be remotely surprised if he had somehow broke into the house through the back door and was using it to stash things 🤦‍♀️ and if he's just started growing it I can't imagine we would smell anything for a few weeks, if it starts to stink of weed I'll let everyone know... I mean, more than this area already does 😂
