I'm not really a Royalist, but this is sad news. The fact it has been announced in the HOC makes me think she must be really quite unwell.

She is just such a constant, a link to a world that no longer exists. A person that actually believes in duty to the country.

Sheep being delivered to Balmoral?

Eh?

Latest bbc news update on fb has black background instead of red.

Fake news. Mine is red, as is the official site. Just bugger off.

Eh?

Sorry, got the rolling BBC news on with live feed of the Blamoral main gates and saw a livestock truck going carefully in (got the sound off at the mo).

Already seen awful comments on Twitter. Someone commented she is like the nations grandma and a reply 'she colonised my actual grandma' with hundreds of likes. I don't know why people have to choose now to do this sort of shit.

There's so much fake news on twitter. They look quite realistic too and are widely shared but then when you look at the profile they're new users with hardly any followers. I don't understand why people do stuff like that!

Re the sheep I assume that's just the news cameras catching the daily comings and goings of a country estate?

It's not fake news though the latest post on the fb is black background vs the rest being red.

It’s definitely black

FluffytheGoldfish · 08/09/2022 16:24

Just a point but it wouldn't be Operation London Bridge but Operation Unicorn as she is in Scotland.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 08/09/2022 16:26

BBC site is always black.
BBC news is always red.
BBC news is still red.

Give yourself a talking to.

Poster was talking about the latest BBC news fb update though which is black.

RainydaysandFridays · 08/09/2022 16:28

Some of the bbc news readers switched to black ties already.

I think posters mean this shot on the BBC fb feed

It is just rolling news, no real updates other than well-wishing messages from leading politicians, clerics and other heads of state.

Exactly, there is no news to speak of and this could go on for hours or even days under the worlds constant watch.

In some ways it's good that we are updated quickly on news events -for this sort of occasion or in the aftermath of a crisis the constant rolling coverage is intrusive & doesn't further your knowledge & tributes should come after someone's passed. I am getting nostalgic for when the news came at 6pm or 10pm or in your morning paper. Now our culture of FOMO means 24 hr coverage even without news to report!

RequiemForAcat · 08/09/2022 16:33

I do think she has already passed. Likely just waiting for all the family to be together, and for any children at school to return home before announcing it.

I do too, to be honest.

I just don't think all the royals would be gathered to Scotland for an undetermined amount of time. My Nan hung on for 2 weeks after we were called up to the hospital one night.

Justme10 · 08/09/2022 16:42

It's just Harry going, Meghan has stayed in London

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 08/09/2022 16:47

There are so many Queen threads on MN now that I’m getting muddled. I guess it doesn’t matter though, we mostly all have the same info.

If she has already died, I’m guessing it’ll be announced between 5 and 6.

CaveMum · 08/09/2022 16:48

Improvise finished 2nd at Epsom. Almost the perfect result.

I think you may be right. It would be the most respectful thing to do and I can’t see them breaking the news without a degree of certainty about the situation. Death isn’t usually predictable ime.

I was thinking this too.

When someone is on their last legs it can be literally days and days before they pass. My dad's lungs collapsed and it was supposed to be within a couple of hours, but it took three gruelling days before he died.

The fact that the BBC has already got blanket coverage now and the mad dash of all the royals up to Balmoral makes me think there's a good chance she's already died. It would seem weird to kick off all this coverage now if she was just on her last legs - it's not as if they could keep this up until she died if she hangs on for days....I think they must know something more...

I don't really care whether people are royalists or not. But a 96 yr old woman is about to die/has died and she's a mum, grandma and great-grandma and loved by her family. Doesn't matter how old you are or how expected it is, it's still sad.

Pixiedust1234 · 08/09/2022 16:51

That isn't a banner on Facebook ffs. The banner on TV feed is red, as is the official online website. The BBC would do it all simultaneously.

MaggieFS · 08/09/2022 16:55

I don't think so, I think if she's near the end then it's quite normal for every to rush for one last visit, but if she survives a little longer, they will likely disperse again.
