Bath tub only the shower part

OP posts:
Thinkingblonde · 05/09/2022 07:16

The main bathroom, we have two en-suites so don’t use it. Our grandchildren 11 and 7 used it a lot on sleepovers but the eldest prefers to shower instead and the little one is hit and miss, she’ll sometimes have a bath but only if she’s been on the beach. Other times she’ll have a shower.
We took the bath out of our previous house and installed a big walk in shower, Everyone said we’d never sell the house without a bath. Wrong we made 100k profit on that house.
I’ve never had a bath for over twenty years.

BeetrootBeetrootGhali · 05/09/2022 07:17

The tv in the en-suite 😬

It was here when we moved in, I have no idea how to even switch it on, and I have no desire to sit in a jacuzzi watching Eastenders.

WallpaperWonder · 05/09/2022 07:17

Cat flap. Our house was originally one storey with a cat flap in the kitchen. Later, it was moved and put on top of a breezeblock basement, so it's now the first floor. The cat flap opens onto the garage roof and has a dishwasher in front of it.

Great thread - loving the waterproof TV 😯

maddiemookins16mum · 05/09/2022 07:24

Conservatory, usable in the following months, September and April/May.

Janif · 05/09/2022 07:26

The huge space in the ceiling when going up the stairs to the loft conversion. My house has very little storage and I'd love to find a way for this space to be used.

goldfinchonthelawn · 05/09/2022 07:29

Spare bedroom. It's big and I always wanted it to be attractive and welcoming but it's jammed with old guitar amps and acres of Lego and rails of DH's vintage clothing. So guests never exactly feel welcome as they pick their way through all the boy toys to find their bed.

Louise0701 · 05/09/2022 07:31

The bath in DDS en-suite and the shower in the boys en-suite. In fairness, they’re only 5 & 3 and don’t like showers yet so we did install it as part of a long term plan for when they’re older. I did think DD would use her bath and it makes me quite sad as it’s a beautiful, really deep freestanding tub that just looks so relaxing. Ah, well.

The previous owners installed a large wall mounted air conditioning system that we have never needed to use, and with the rising energy bills we never will!

Whaaat wouldn’t that have been perfect for the heatwaves this summer? I was BEGGING for air con.

For is it’d be the living room - boring room with bare walls and nothing but couches. Everyone who comes over hangs out in the kitchen/dining area.

JustAnotherMadCatLady · 05/09/2022 07:40

Wall-mounted electric fire. It's been on about 3 times in the 8 years we've had it. It's too noisy - and now will be too expensive to run, anyway.

itsnotmeitsdefinitelyyou · 05/09/2022 07:41

The wine fridge, it's not even switched on anymore.

If I want wine I just put a bottle in the actual fridge.

I'd love a bath though if anyone wants to swap!

My bathroom, it’s huge with a freestanding bath and double walk in shower, it’s a stunning room but I’ve never used it, it’s just easier to use my en suite, I really should force myself to use and enjoy it.

My mum has an ensuite and a big, family wet room. She uses one on one day and the other the next day. Keeps everything working properly.

RaininSummer · 05/09/2022 07:44

The loft room. It's basically a giant shed/garage as I have nowhere else to store ladders and other unattractive household crap.

AlwaysLatte · 05/09/2022 07:44

CCTV. We never switch on the monitor or look at it.

Bedtimeforever · 05/09/2022 07:49

The downstairs toilet. I’d much rather have used that space for storage.

Fizbosshoes · 05/09/2022 07:51

We have a toilet that we almost never use. There is a bathroom with a toilet....Next to a toilet on its own. When we first moved the separate toilet was brown and that sort of put me off using it, but we replaced it for a nicer one but still no one really uses it

BigSkies2022 · 05/09/2022 07:56

Fireplaces and working chimneys in an Edwardian house. By far the most heat-efficient, and environmentally friendly solution has been to block the flues with chimney sheep and other wool insulation and never, ever light fires. But they have beautiful tiles and surrounds and so they do look very pretty.

stuntbubbles · 05/09/2022 07:57

We’ve just moved in so we use every room, but not for its eventual intended purpose/occupant, and change what we’re calling the room almost daily as we clear boxes and move furniture to where it was supposed to be but DP was left in charge and told the movers to “just put things anywhere”. Hmm

Can’t use the shed yet as previous owners left it chock full of “helpful” crap, so our shed stuff is in the sitting room, so we sit in what was supposed to be the moving-in junk room to sort out to sell, now that junk is in the spare room, so the spare bed is under our bed. Etc. Our most not-used thing I think is: hallway pegs, hallway shoe storage, hooks, corralling bowls, welly rack, and everything else designed to limit chaos. Everyone except me just hurls their coats, shoes and pocket detritus at the nearest available surface. Fuckers.

CloudyMorning · 05/09/2022 08:03

Mine is …topical. Our solar panels on our roof. House was newly built 7 years ago.
Never had them connected as we assumed the saving in electricity would’ve been much less than the cost to connect them!! Guess who’s madly trying to find someone to help with this…

CallMeByYourUsername · 05/09/2022 08:07

Sofa, as I never have time to sit down.

I love my freestanding roll top bath and use it every day.

Fuwari · 05/09/2022 08:09

I would give up many things in my house before I gave up my bath. I hate showers (though will sometimes have one for speed) much prefer a bath. Even with rising energy costs, that’s one “luxury” I won’t give up.

For me it’s the “cocktail lounge”. I gained a (small) spare room and wanted to do something a bit different. I did concede to put a sofa bed in there for guests (of which I’ve had one in 3 years!). I had visions of lounging in there with a book and a cocktail. Then I realised I prefer wine and the sofa bed isn’t hugely comfortable to sit on! However, I suspect I will get a lot more use out of it this year. Being a small room it is much easier to heat than the semi open plan living room.

Burglar alarm.

It was installed when we bought the property and we can't use it because we have 2 cats !

Lockbox/Keysoe
Locked out of it

WonkotheWonderDog · 05/09/2022 08:17

We have one of those as well !
