Bath tub only the shower part

I'm in Oz and love my bath and pool and use them all the time!

I live in a really hot country just moved into a new rental with a bathroom that is 50% taken up by a tub! Doubt it's ever been used ! Cannot imagine immersing myself in hot water in this climate

Surely you could fill it with colder water.

Ours is the cellar. It's big but damp and floods some winters so can't use it to store anything that isn't plastic or glass. The dog and cat crates live down there as well as spare jam jars.

AhNowTed · 05/09/2022 05:48

Dining room, used at Christmas.

Alarm. We have a big cat and I'm afraid it would go off.

We installed a bath. The house had 3 showers and no bath. Husband loves it.

MermaidMummy06 · 05/09/2022 05:51

The ridiculously huge bathtub DH insisted on when we built. Bathroom had to be extended (had standard tub on original plan). Also wider so there's very little standing space in the bathroom. It cost a quite a bit to alter plans & buy bigger tub.

He wanted it because 'he likes to take a bath sometimes & standard ones are too small'. As I predicted, he's used it once in 14 years. That was right after we moved in, to prove he WOULD use it.

PermanentTemporary · 05/09/2022 06:04

Probably the fireplace- used to have fires 3 or 4 times a winter when dh was alive but I just can't be bothered. Maybe that will change this winter.

BrownOrangeRed · 05/09/2022 06:17

Upstairs bathroom. We don't use it at all, it's a massive waste of space. If we had the money it would be turned into a built-in storage unit

@NewHouseNewMe Could you add a link to the renovations thread please? I've searched and can't find it.

Bath tub only the shower part

This was true in our house until we had a baby. Our 3yr old does use it now though. I suspect in a few years it will go back to being a waste again.

User148563 · 05/09/2022 06:24

Both fireplaces, we even had to buy 2 electric fires which we never use as they were the cheapest way of filling the gaps

speakout · 05/09/2022 06:40

Outdoor decking, quite a large area and also serves as steps to the garden which is lower than the house.
I just replaced it too as the old wood was rotting.
It is North facing and I live in Scotland.
My neighbours also have decking the other side of the fence, just feet away- they do use theirs- but no conversation would be private.

glamourousindierockandroll · 05/09/2022 06:43

Open fireplace. The room it's in is used as a playroom so we've never used it or had the chimney swept.

Thought it would come in handy this winter, only to find that DH has at some point given away the (lovely) fire basket that we'd stored in the garage Angry This is the man normally who saves every spare screw and empty box 'just in case'....

marvellousmaple · 05/09/2022 06:48

2nd loungeroom. Stupidly massive spabath .

DinosApple · 05/09/2022 06:53

Spare bedroom. We can barely get in there and dumped all 'I don't know' boxes in there when we moved two years ago.
Then no one has come to stay since we moved, so the door has been kept shut. (It is our winter project though.)

amatsip · 05/09/2022 06:54

We have an attic floor with a very large bedroom, dressing room and large bathroom, not been used more than a handful of times a year as the child that begged and begged for that room has been in my bed the last year! 🤣

Spanielsarepainless · 05/09/2022 06:55

Corner bath with squirty things. Never been used by us. And it's not long enough for a normal length human. And we shower anyway. The most irritating thing is the space is big enough for a standard bath.

KangarooKenny · 05/09/2022 06:55

Gas fire in the lounge. We never, ever use it. It would be dangerous if we did now.

saleorbouy · 05/09/2022 06:56

@Alphabet1spaghetti2
Spray your neighbours brambles with SBK weed killer they'll be gone in a season. It's the perfect time now as next year's shoots are growing. It doesn't kill grass but is great on brambles and nettles.
Surely you can push the fence back and reclaim some outside space?

Indoctro · 05/09/2022 06:57

Kids toy room ...they too interested in Xbox nowadays

OldTinHat · 05/09/2022 06:57

Another one who has never had a bath since moving in and who is locked out of the keysafe.

Also the third bedroom which I never go in and the loft room.

I had a 20ft workshop that I never used either but finally got that taken down this year, hooray!

Reluctantadult · 05/09/2022 07:02

En suite shower. Never used,as user the main bathroom nextdoor. It could have been an amazing cupboard!

Passanotherjaffacake · 05/09/2022 07:03

We recently moved to a 5 bed and I’m pleased by how much space we do use in our house but currently the living room is under long term maintenance so out of bounds - everything is so expensive and will be months before we can buy shutters and sofas etc!

We also have a huge undercroft which goes the length of the house but which just stores a few garden things for our much smaller garden! Not big enough to fit bikes or bins or anything really practical.

would also appreciate the link to the renovations thread as we will be doing this house for about 5 years I reckon!

Bumtum126 · 05/09/2022 07:06

The tennis court, it hasn't been used now has a shed on it.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 05/09/2022 07:08

Living flame gas fire in sitting room - no longer used due to pets.

En suite - only ever used for its intended purpose when main bathroom renovated. Very useful storage space tho 👌

Natsku · 05/09/2022 07:09

The loft above the garage. Could be used for storage, or even converted into a summer bedroom, but its full of the dust and cobwebs and the previous owners junk so it seems just too much effort to sort out.

From now on though, the sauna will be the most wasted feature - can't afford to switch it on any more! Normally we use it weekly but now it'll just be special occasions I suppose. At the moment the big computer is being stored in there (as also can't afford to switch that on, gobbles up electricity)

Cervinia · 05/09/2022 07:15

Downstairs shower. It’s a top of the range Hans Grohe one that has lots of different shower sensations such as “rainfall” “champagne” “massage”

the shower cubicle houses the cat litter trays and whilst the shower is useful for rinsing the tray, we never use it for showering.
