Front garden - it's a lovely big space but apart from dd2 occasionally playing with her friends from the street there never gets used. Just walked through up and down the path

Threelittlelambs · 05/09/2022 01:04

The landing - could be converted for two en-suites or even another bedroom/study

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 05/09/2022 01:10

Sauna in an outbuilding. We've looked in it once since we moved in nearly 2yrs ago. It's probably breeding huge spiders in there so I won't go in. My DP switched it on last year to see if it worked and it knocked out all the external electricals 😖.

We also have an ugly balcony on our bedroom that looks more like a fire escape. Never been on it. Didn't even occur to us to open the doors for some air at night during the heatwave. Current view is of all the rotting apples on the roof of the aforementioned sauna shed. We keep the curtains closed.

Can't use the dining room due to the volume of next door neighbour's bloody TV 😡. It's a lovely old room that's now become a dumping ground and thoroughfare.

Does the iron count?
Failing that, also the bath here. I fucking hate baths.

LemonSwan · 05/09/2022 01:15

The house. We are still in the garage a year into renovation. It’s kind of strange because this is our home now. Our actual house DP just refers to as the workplace in the garden. Going to be odd to move in.

PeloDramatic · 05/09/2022 01:20

Burglar alarm, it's a sensor one and I have a cat

Garden. Any nice weather and the next door kids are out screaming so I would rather not sit out with headphones on!

Coatdegroan · 05/09/2022 01:45

Lockbox/Keysoe
Locked out of it

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 05/09/2022 01:47

Dishwasher. When I bought my house it was not connected to the water line. I just never bothered having it connected. We just wash the dishes by hand.

Yarnosaur · 05/09/2022 01:53

Cellar. I remember viewing the house and thinking how cool to have a cellar, but the reality is a stone staircase that you have to remember which step requires you to duck so you don't crack your head open on the floor above. And it's damp so can't even store anything down there.

BarnacleNora · 05/09/2022 01:59

Currently my front 'garden' which is really more of a patio area. This is meant to be 'my' outside area as opposed to the kids' (who have a back garden that's pretty much taken up with a giant trampoline). Storm Eunice blew down the wall and fencing back in February. I'm still waiting for the housing association to replace it. Haven't been able to sit outside all summer or dry any washing outdoors because the garden's now completely exposed to the whole neighbourhood. Local kids now use it as one of their goals in football games. It's gone beyond frustrating at this point. I'm considering a sad compo face photo in the local newspaper as no other emails and phone calls to the HA seem to be working. Apparently there's a problem with the fencing contractors but I keep getting reassured that my house is the highest priority given I have a child with disabilities who is a flight risk out of the house into the roadHmm

In normal times it's my garage. It's located away from the house, across the cul de sac and currently houses.....the Christmas tree. That's it. Just this long plastic box on the floor in the middle of the ridiculously large garage. I've lived here for nearly four years now, I think I've proved to myself the garage doesn't leak and can now start trusting it to put in shelving and actually store more things in it 😂

Fireplace. We live in Tx. In 9yes I’ve wanted to use it once in a cold snap. A friends H had a look at it and looks like the gas line in has been capped. Can also burn wood in it but have never got around to getting it inspected. Waste of a wall. I had a guy give a quote to have built in shelves and cupboard instead, 4K no including demo of the fireplace. Not sure that’s even feasible but would love to do it

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 05/09/2022 02:49

My living room. Biggest room in the house, freezing cold.

Soproudoflionesses · 05/09/2022 03:06

Conservatory

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 05/09/2022 03:09

Jack and Jill bathroom - would have appreciated a storage cupboard more

creamcheeseandlox · 05/09/2022 03:26

Definitely the bath in the kids bathroom. We have a shower in our ensuite so never need to use the bathroom but when we renovate it next year will rip it out and get a double walk in shower which the kids will prefer. No one has baths.

Nandocushion · 05/09/2022 03:39

Lawns front and back. I hate grass, it's boring and pointless and rubbish for the environment. In our last house we replaced the front lawn with native plants and loved it - I need to do that front and back here.

Come join us on the renovations thread. Lots of long time renovators: some roughing it in one room, others in rental - all broke!

What is the most wasted feature of your home?

Me, usually.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 05/09/2022 04:11

We have a massive powered workshop that was the previous owner's pride and joy. I am not a handy person at all, nor is my husband, its totally wasted on us!

torquewench · 05/09/2022 04:26

The front sitting room.
The morning room (thinking of knocking through so it makes the kitchen bigger).

SardineStitches · 05/09/2022 04:27

The pool.
I pay someone to come and keep it looking nice but we never use it. Waste of money keeping it running.
Next house won't have one.

WalrusSubmarine · 05/09/2022 04:28

A covered patio in the back garden for the hot weather - we live in Australia which is normally 21 degrees even mid winter but it’s been raining and grey since February and it just blocks the light.

We also have a window in the living room which looks directly out on a high fence a foot away - it looks so ugly and dark. Blank wall would look better.

Also - a breakfast bar. I’d rather have storage.

I love the bath though!

daisychain01 · 05/09/2022 04:49

You can get a discount on your household insurance if you can get the burglar alarm working and in use.

OLP2019 · 05/09/2022 04:51

I live in a really hot country just moved into a new rental with a bathroom that is 50% taken up by a tub! Doubt it's ever been used ! Cannot imagine immersing myself in hot water in this climate

whiteroseredrose · 05/09/2022 05:04

Until Covid I would have said our dining room. We eat in the kitchen so it was only used at Easter and Christmas. Now I WFH in there.

The guest room was only used by PIL a couple of times a year, so now I sleep in there (I snore).

The bath is utterly wasted on me but DH spends a lot of time reading in there. Each to their own!
