Just bought a tarantula 🙈

Trying to get over my fear s/he(?) just arrived this morning and has already eaten.

Only about 2" right now.

Very cute but am scared of it getting out 😂

I need a name too!

I'd call him Ivor.

Ivor bigun. 😂

😂 😂

He's actually small at the moment. Those photos make him look huge.

I really like Hilda. I thought it was a boy but I'm swaying to girl. My jumper was called Lilith.

Wow! Fair play to you for trying to get a handle on your fear.

No way could I do it - I had to skim past your photos.

Agree with a pp re cellar spiders. I live in an old timber-framed property and was told that cellar spiders are my friend, they help prevent the kind of bugs that cause damage to timber frames. So, I have had to learn to leave the spinning beasts alone in their little corners! I still find it amazing that these creatures, which look so fragile, are capable of taking down house spiders - only yesterday I found the evidence of a kill. How on earth are they able to do it (no, am not googling, as that brings up spider photos!)

Congratulations op!

I went through a similar thing with my pet snake. Felt totally confident holding him in the shop, but when we got home and it was just me and him I freaked out! I joined Facebook groups for python enthusiasts and got some brilliant advice. I started off with gloves and a snake hook until I was confident enough to handle him with my bare hands. We're best mates now and he'll slither straight up my dressing gown sleeve and curl up next to my body to watch Netflix!

Oh god this is amazing! I can't imagine being brave enough to let a snake slide up my dressing gown sleeve!! Confused
