Price cap - means women are shafted AGAIN

This is another massive step backwards for women.

It will just become even more important for the lower earners (the female of the species, more often than not) to stay at home. And become deskilled. And controlled.

Gah

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/08/2022 17:28

This makes no sense whatsoever imo.

SoupDragon · 26/08/2022 17:29

How?

Nicknacky · 26/08/2022 17:29

I’m not seeing the connection here. Can you explain?

GreenWheat · 26/08/2022 17:30

I think you are making this a sexism issue when it really isn't.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 26/08/2022 17:30

I don't understand what you mean

MarshaMelrose · 26/08/2022 17:31

🙄

Discovereads · 26/08/2022 17:33

I am similarly lost? Why would this mean women would stop working?

HotHeatDays · 26/08/2022 17:33

What on earth are you talking about.

yonce · 26/08/2022 17:34

Surely they'll need to be out of the house, at work, as the house won't have heating?

RaininSummer · 26/08/2022 17:34

Surely it's more likely to have the opposite effect as women who can may feel the need to go to work.

Parky04 · 26/08/2022 17:34

If you say so!

BarryK3nt · 26/08/2022 17:35

I’m planning to work extra shifts to pay for it, I’m a woman with a partner and child.

chillipenguin · 26/08/2022 17:35

Please can you expand? I thought more people would have to go to work to earn money rather than be sahp.

LadyCatStark · 26/08/2022 17:35

But… why…?

Afterfire · 26/08/2022 17:37

Eh?

More people than ever will be working 2/3 jobs to make ends meet.

fuckboris · 26/08/2022 17:39

Two nurseries near me are closing in December - the final nail in the coffin has been the increase in gas & electricity bills.

The staff being made redundant are mostly women.

Lulumo · 26/08/2022 17:39

I think the problem is that is usually up to women to work out how to change they way they cook and feed their family - it’s taking up a lot of my brain space as well as time

fuckboris · 26/08/2022 17:39

And as more and more childcare providers close their doors, good luck with those extra shifts

Dinoteeth · 26/08/2022 17:39

Op I'm not seeing the link either. Other than it puts up the cost of being in the house so being a SAHM or WFH becomes less cost efficient. Cheaper to be out the house and make use of heating someone else is paying for.

Cas112 · 26/08/2022 17:40

Pardon?

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 26/08/2022 17:43

I don't see the connection

ItsJustLittleOlMe · 26/08/2022 17:56

👍

Surtsey · 26/08/2022 18:00

It is more likely to be the opposite, surely?

Batshittery · 26/08/2022 18:02

Why will women be staying home? Surely more will be forced to find work for extra income.

NellesVilla · 26/08/2022 18:03

You what?
