Are you addicted to Diet Coke like I am?

I drink a lot of Diet Coke. I am the first to admit that but it always seems that I am the only one!

I mean I know I can’t be because otherwise it wouldn’t be sold literally everywhere…

I’d say on average I drink 2 cans a day. Maybe that’s not loads but I have to restrict myself. Otherwise I could probably drink it by the litre daily, first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

Anyone else have a love for Diet Coke?

i love normal coke but as I have gestational diabetes I now love Diet Coke (caffeine free) tried Pepsi max, Diet Pepsi, Coke Zero but prefer Diet Coke, caffeine free isn’t as nice but has to be done

Bbq1 · 23/08/2022 22:51

I was addicted to 4 cans a day about 12 years ago. I actually became very ill and I'm certain that the diet coke contributed. I just gave it up on the spot. I have a very occasional can now, a couple of times a year but I can't drink more than half a can these days .
It's really not good for you.

pogostickplastique · 23/08/2022 22:52

Yep! Have up caffeine (in tea ) 7 Years ago, but get extremely tetchy without my Diet Coke fix - drink far too much of it

Pepsi max yes
Diet coke tastes like tinny water though cant stand it

lisavanderpumpscloset · 23/08/2022 22:53

Full fat coke addict over here 🙋‍♀️

Kanaloa · 23/08/2022 22:55

I wish I was addicted to Diet Coke - I’m on the full fat stuff. I know it’s full of empty calories, I know it’s super high in sugar, but it’s impossible to quit. Work, studying, the kids, plus autistic son who sees sleep as more of an occasional optional activity than an everyday occurrence, sometimes a can of Coke is the only thing keeping me awake.

IsJohnReadyToMakeAComeback · 23/08/2022 22:55

Used to drink at least 2L a day of Pepsi Max. Bought a soda stream in lock down and now have fizzy lemon cordial. Haven't touched a drop since.

DramaAlpaca · 23/08/2022 22:56

I like it, but it's a very occasional treat for me. Ditto coffee.

As for tea, I can't get enough of the stuff.

NewTattoo · 23/08/2022 22:58

Not Diet Coke, but the full-fat stuff! I get twitchy if I think there’s not enough in the fridge, and that bothers me as I know it’s not good for me. Probably have about 4 cans a day🤷‍♀️ I’d def drink more if I could. I also will have orange Tango or Fanta, Lemonade or Pepsi for a change… but Coke is my true love♥️

Smellywellyhoo · 23/08/2022 23:01

Coke Zero but yes I guzzle the stuff.

SmellyNelliey · 23/08/2022 23:05

Coke zero around 2ltrs a day I do try and stop do a few days then back drinking it again

OakTreex · 23/08/2022 23:12

I've found my people. Coke Zero or Pepsi Max. I don't even like to think about how much I have a day. I try to cut back but it doesn't last.

It is hugely addictive. I crave it. I get antsy if I'm running out and the shops are closing. I drink it as soon as I wake up in the morning and it's like a fix when I have that first sip which almost cuts through the fog of my brain and wakes me up for the day Grin. I'm aware I sound like an addict, because I am!

TidyDancer · 23/08/2022 23:12

Yep, I'm a Diet Coke head. Probably a litre per day, sometimes more. I also love tea (milk but no sugar) and could easily just have DC and tea and that's it's. I can go without it (and when I'm trying to up my water intake I do natural drink less) but I'd be happy drinking it from morning to night.

nocoolnamesleft · 23/08/2022 23:13

I had a diet coke addiction. Then a few months ago one of my teeth just collapsed. I haven't drunk it since. I would suggest trying to break the habit before that point...

Justleaveitblankthen · 23/08/2022 23:14

When I used to drink cans of pop, I always preferred Pepsi Max to Diet Coke, but strangely hated full sugar Pepsi.. but loved full sugar coke 😂

uncomfortablydumb53 · 23/08/2022 23:23

Coke Zero 2 cans daily here
Currently working my way through a box of 30( on offer!)

ThirtyThreeTrees · 23/08/2022 23:28

I had but finally stopped drinking it during Covid19. I am convinced I have much more energy since I gave it up.

I've had it the odd time since but don't even like the taste now.

ChagSameachDoreen · 23/08/2022 23:34

UpsideDownDownsideUp · 23/08/2022 22:34

I drink MINIMUM 6 cans a day. Prob closer to 8.or 9 if i was honest.
Have since a teen.

It used to be up to 12 a day.

I know i need to cut down and i do occasionally. I'd save loads too.

Six cans a day? I'm sorry but that's ridiculous.

dropthevipers · 23/08/2022 23:51

A word to the wise-anyone offers you a line of amphetamine sulphate, just say no.

Furries · 24/08/2022 02:43

Coke Zero fan here. Don’t understand those who can switch easily (ie also love Pepsi Max). They all taste vile next to Coke Zero!

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 24/08/2022 07:00

I think diet Cole is the most addictive of them all. I gave it up years ago but used to get really grumpy if I didn't have it

tortoishellclub · 24/08/2022 09:06

Yip Coke Zero for me. I look at it with sheer admiration when I walk down the aisle in tesco to collect it. 🤣

onelittlefrog · 24/08/2022 09:09

Never liked diet coke but I used to drink a lot of pepsi max which is basically the same.

I cut it out quite a few years ago and mostly drink water now.

Definitely went through a phase of withdrawal/ headaches when I stopped, and I could easily slip back to it if I don't watch myself. It is just chemical soup though, really bad for your body.

Maverickess · 24/08/2022 09:22

I used to be and still sort of am, but I now only buy own brand (and even then only certain own brand!) And buy 'the good stuff' like some people do with alcohol - some will have a nice glass of wine with dinner and I'll have a 'proper' diet coke as a treat because I absolutely refuse to pay £2 odd a bottle for something I can easily guzzle in a day.
I drink a lot more juice because it's cheaper and I've noticed a difference with my stomach not drinking so much fizzy and I'll have a glass of own brand stuff with my lunch or dinner once a day if I fancy it.
The temptation however at work, where I can drink it (within reason) is often too much and I succumb.
I am much better than I used to be though, it was all I drank, and some days over a 2l bottle.

HardStareBear · 24/08/2022 10:10

I used to drink loads of it but my dentist warned me that it was starting to impact the enamel of my teeth, so I went cold turkey. I have the occasional one now but it just doesn't have the appeal that it used to, thankfully.
