Just discovered you can't say the name of place on Reddit that spends a lot of time talking about this website.

What other words cant we say?

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 23/08/2022 14:03

Some of us think it's disgusting that drag queens perform for children. Or rather that children are encouraged to watch drag queens.

That's not the same as saying the drag queens themselves are anything other than delightful people. I'm sure many of them are lovely and many of them are not, just like anyone else.

Sistanotcista · 23/08/2022 14:03

SlappersAndFuiters · Today 13:56
There is a reason they would be banned from most other forms of social media for half the posts put on that topic and AIBU.

But they're not on "other" forums - they're on Mumsnet - a safe space for women (not too many of those left!) There is a really simple solution if you don't like the tone and quality of the posts....

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 23/08/2022 14:05

Hi @purple12345678 certain words will trigger a flag for review - for obvious reasons we're not going to list them here. If a post is okay, then we'll usually reinstate it.

You can still swear.

A few posts brought up sex and gender discussions. You can read our specific guidelines on this here.

If you think your post has been removed and it shouldn't have been, let us know at [email protected]. We're always happy to row back if we've made a mistake.

Nope. The post you had deleted was very different to those examples.

Again, saying drag is grotesque is a perfectly valid opinion. Saying drag queens are grotesque is maligning the person not the behaviour.

You probably cant see the difference.

I think your “hateful” is other people’s “discursive” @SlappersAndFuiters

Open conversation should be possible as long as it is respectful.

People are able to be a lot more hateful towards trans women specifically and drag queens than they would be on any other form of social media

Again. Its the behaviour not the people. Nice of goalpost moving tho.

Any personal attacks get removed.

That’s a thread of more than 700 posts. Nobody has time to read all of that.

picklemewalnuts · 23/08/2022 14:12

When something challenges the accepted norms in society, it's reasonable to discuss the implications.

Free contraception, same sex marriage, Sunday opening - all of them get discussed ad nauseous before changes are made.

Not sure why we can't discuss the eradication of sex in favour of gender, particularly in sports and prisons, or indeed the queering of youth? They are quite big changes.

Cuck00soup · 23/08/2022 14:13

Certain phrases are reported by monitors.

It's a shame, I wish more people understood the three letter acronym. Understanding that some people have a paraphilia is in my opinion, an important part of safeguarding.

What I will say, is before thinking how nice and kind and liberal something is, stop and think about how you would feel about the same individual trying access female spaces if they didn't speak rainbow unicorn.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/08/2022 14:14

3 letter acronym = anagram of popular US clothing chain with branches all across the UK? Got it (finally).

The obsession with misgendering people is also highly offensive and a clear indicator of some peoples nasty views on here

Whereas other people find being unable to identify the male sex both a safeguarding issue and offensive. 🤷‍♀️

But HQ don't allow it, if it's personal.

See the similarities? General discourse, fine. Discussing concepts, outcomes, stats, all fine. Personal attacks , not fine.

Pixiedust1234 · 23/08/2022 14:15

..and yet again a thread is being derailed by a pro trans... Just report the posts to @MNHQ , there's nothing the rest of us can do.

@HinchcliffeandMurgatroyd well that's bloody ridiculous.

They're males, identifying as trans... so...

The line of freedom of speech and expression seems to involve mass censorship of GC women.

Have you even read the Mumsnet guidelines? The leniency allowed by MN that other sites don't have the courage to facilitate is precisely to engender shared understanding and to try and move forward in a way that works for everyone, women and transwomen alike. See extract below:

"We believe in free speech and civil debate. So we will, for instance, allow people to discuss biology and scientific evidence.
We don’t allow posts which are derogatory or aggressive towards trans people. We believe there are ways to express both opinion and facts without crossing this line.
Sweeping negative generalisations about any group, including trans people and gender-critical feminists, won’t be tolerated.
Free speech by definition applies to all; for a debate to take place, opposing views which follow our Talk guidelines need to be tolerated, even if you disagree with them.
We won’t allow aggressive or rude behaviour towards our moderation team.
If you cannot accept the above principles and persistently ignore them, then I’m afraid you need to accept that Mumsnet isn’t the right place for you."

picklemewalnuts · 23/08/2022 14:18

No, that's you Slappers. We discuss safeguarding and pedophiles, you link it to trans.

No. Its an issue because this thread is about possible banned words. Not about trans issues. But you know that, dont you dear Smile

Wow really you can’t talk about the place on here??

I often visit it and they even speak about certain posters and copy and paste comments to bitch about them. Quite pathetic knowing it’s grown women and men that have nothing better to do. They take MN wayyy too seriously

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 23/08/2022 14:20

OP Think British astronaut Tim Peake

The first is the acronym and the second you can't say in relation to anything related to gender ideology.

And FWR is so highly regulated now, not only is it a segregated naughty step but we cannot even say things that have been found perfectly legal in a court or two. Because Those Who Monitor make such a racket that MNHQ long as decided that if they gave us an inch we would shut up/put up with Them taking a mile.
