What other words cant we say?

OP posts:

Trans rights activists don’t care about violence against women and girls

Pixiedust1234 · 23/08/2022 23:39

actually lockheart was correct. There is no such thing as protected free speech on private forums. The laws and regulations are based on where the forum is registered/operated from.

Keepingupappearance · 23/08/2022 23:42

@Pixiedust1234 the longer answer I typed out was that it’s more complex than Lockhart wrote and the notion of free speech is not limitrd to being free from interference by government

in this particular case mumsnet itself in its policie refers to incorporating the notions of free speech in devising it’s own rules for forum operation.

You don't have freedom of speech on someone else's platform. If MN decided to ban the words cauliflower or dirigible tomorrow they could. If they decided to ban all left or right wing political views, for example, they could do that.

MN, like all private forums, set their own rules (within the law) and moderate users posts accordingly.

A post being deleted on MN is not a violation of freedom of speech.

Ooh interesting exercise KeepingUpAppearances was engaged in, there!

Of course, we can't see which ones failed the Mod test!

I have to say, it's interesting to think that Trans women suffer the same sex based health issues that men do, plus a few extras I'd think from messing with their hormones.

Remember too that by definition they have a psychological condition or paraphilia, and that these tend to cluster.

Adding surgery or experimental drug treatments into the mix is unlikely to reduce the number of issues relative to the general population.

You know I read lots of interesting stuff about womens rights on here and can absolutely understand and get where you are coming from. But then I read the transphobic shite that's been posted by Keepingupappearance and then I swing the other way.

Like I said she does nothing for your cause.

What did she say that was transphobic?

Keepingupappearance · 24/08/2022 10:05

Mumsnet have advised that I have made sweeping negative comments about the transgender community.

I have responded that I didn’t say a thing about trans men.

I made the point that I made sweeping negative comments about males - and the potential threat of violence to women and girls all males pose.

so mumsnet has confirmed that it is okay to say negative things about the potential threat of violence about males EXCEPT when those men identify as women/are transwomen.

always helpful to have clarity.

It’s ridiculous isn’t it. You can say negative thing about all males except the ones displaying serious psychological issues and / or invading women’s spaces.

Yes, it was predictable. Of course the deleted posts have to be reported.

I can't imagine the same person has reported the posts about men, as well as about transwomen, because the difference in censorship would be crystal clear to the moderator getting that email.

There is no doubt that, across-the-board, not just here, men who identify as women, however loosely, are seen through a different lens to those who don't.

Take drag queen story time. What library would accept adult male entertainers, whose acts rely on highly sexualised themes, to read to children wholesale? Actually on the basis of those acts? You don't find pole dancers being sought to read to children, on the basis that they are pole dancers.

An interesting experiment Keepingupappearance.

Keepingupappearance · 24/08/2022 10:45

And interestingly seems okay to make sweeping generalizations about male pattern baldness. It’s the violence against women and girls that is the problem.

also no problem to talk about transwomen/ trans identifying men as the potential VICTIMS of violence. Only a problem when talking about them as the potential aggressors.

Keepingupappearance · 24/08/2022 11:10

Oh scrap that - we can’t talk about the risk of male pattern baldness for trans identifying men 😂

picklemewalnuts · 24/08/2022 11:28

I wonder, what about the continued risk of prostate cancer trans women face?
It's equal with that of men, from what I can tell.

Keepingupappearance · 24/08/2022 11:50

Let’s give it a whirl

Keepingupappearance · 24/08/2022 12:05

Men have an ongoing risk of prostate cancer

Keepingupappearance · 24/08/2022 12:05

Transwomen have an ongoing risk of prostrate cancer

Can you explain what's transphobic about it specifically please?

Keepingupappearance · 24/08/2022 17:31

Looks like where good to go talking about prostrate risk people.

again - it’s just the potential for male pattern violence against women and girls by transwomen that we are not to discuss

picklemewalnuts · 24/08/2022 17:40

We need to see independent research about male violence, and whether transitioning to female impacts the rate of offending.

Keepingupappearance · 24/08/2022 17:44

@picklemewalnuts moj statistics show that transwomen in prison are MORE likely to be sex offenders than other male prisoners

so either men who self identify as women don’t genuinely suffer from dysphoria or trans women are actually more predisposed to violence 🤷‍♀️
