Indorex on spiders

I’ve seen lots of people recommended indorex to keep spiders away , I’ve got some and wondering where do you spray it ? Just skirting boards and door entrances ?

I really hope it works 😭

Aw, leave the spiders alone. We need them!

Hbhhhh193948484848 · 22/08/2022 06:53

I have really bad arachnophobia so unfortunately I can’t just leave them alone.

I agree with PP, leave the poor spiders alone

KangarooKenny · 22/08/2022 07:09

What does it say on the instructions ? Is it safe to use with pets ?

honkeytonkwoman38 · 22/08/2022 07:11

I spray indirectly on rugs and soft furnishings to prevent fleas. I'm arachnophobic but still wouldn't use it on spiders directly as despite my fear and loathing I recognise the good they do.

dontgobaconmyheart · 22/08/2022 07:18

I wouldn't kill them, and I also have really bad aracnaphobia.

It's actually something I'm quite embarrassed by, I often cry if im surprised by one and have fainted before which is objectively ridiculous. It's a bloody spider and I know it can't inflict meaningful harm on me. If I see one in the house or on me I generally won't sleep that night for waking up with nightmares one is on me.

Killing it is disproportionate though and cruel really. I try my best to get someone else to kindly remove it or otherwise I'll tackle it myself with the spider catcher or an opaque cup (so I don't have to see it) and then recover somewhere afterwards.

Hasn't yet killed me and therefore is only fair IMO.

Snowflakes2 · 22/08/2022 07:22

When my cat brought in fleas, I used indorex for them and it worked a treat but I was very suprised about the fact we seen no spiders at all! I just sprayed all around the skirting boards in every room.

Isaidnoalready · 22/08/2022 07:37

Just use it on your carpets it will kill them if they walk on them you might have to hoover a corpse or two though

Pricklesinperil · 22/08/2022 07:38

Please don’t kill them OP! Would you consider something like this? Humane spider catcher

CalistoNoSolo · 22/08/2022 08:15

Indorex is deadly for all insects and I think it's really irresponsible and selfish to use it just because you don't like spiders. Mass insect decline is a very real threat to food production. We should be encouraging insects of all kinds not waging chemical warfare on them.

Well said. I'm so sick of all these "kill everything!" threads.

AnnaMagnani · 22/08/2022 08:51

I doused my whole house in Indorex 2 months ago after the cat had a persistent flea problem.

If anything we have more spiders than usual right now.

Hbhhhh193948484848 · 22/08/2022 09:34

It’s safe for pets and children. Oh sorry but I don’t really care what you think about killing spiders I hate them and a do kill them im not going to make them instinct am I. I’ve seen lots of people on here saying indorex works so il try it I was just looking for advice of where to spray it.

I used indorex for fleas. Previous owner left us in a pickle and have noticed that spiders die on contact.

It's really sad. Tends to be around skirting boards and thresholds.

If you wanted to kill the spiders then in my cousin sprays it on the window sills.

I'm not here to judge but it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable

This. The heatwave and the drought have really messed with insects this year. In our wooded/suburban area there is a really noticeable drop this summer. My windows are open with tbe lights on and nothing flies in - no moths, no flies, no mozzies. It is deadly quiet. The spiders will be struggling as is. Their food is gone.

This truly is a time of insect armageddon and to us they are an annoyance but to the food chain they are essential.

Anything that eats insects is going to go extinct, birds/mammals (e.g bats).

Humans rely on many species of insect for pollination of food crops. If those species die out, so do we.

We cannot afford to lose them, truly. Help
them, don’t harm them!

Phrenologistsfinger · 22/08/2022 09:44

And yes, you may be contributing to the extinction!

Each individual spider is part of the gene-pool, the fewer spiders we have now, the fewer will survive each generation and the chances of extinction go up.

I cannot believe the selfishness, honestly.

Stichintimesavesstapling · 22/08/2022 09:48

I'm not sure I would want all those chemicals in my house. Safe for pets and children, but is that true for constant exposure during the year when repeatedly used?

I have a bad phobia and I just make sure I have a functioning hoover to hand

AnnaMagnani · 22/08/2022 09:51

Indore isn't safe for pets, you are specifally supposed to spray it when they aren't in the room.

Same for children and people, I had my inhaler in use when I was spraying it.

Leave the spiders alone.

DancingBeanstalk · 22/08/2022 09:58

Thanks for this, OP. Been looking for something to kill them.

Have toddlers so been worried about what to use so will look into this

HippyDippieTrees · 22/08/2022 10:05

I'm sure I read that catching spiders and putting them outside kills them anyway as they're usually house spiders.

DejaVoodoo · 22/08/2022 10:11

Selfish and horrible thing to do.

"I don't like something, so I'm gonna kill it. UGG"

FourFourthsDontCare · 22/08/2022 10:17

Yes, putting house spiders outside does tend to kill them.

Am going to add to the chorus asking the OP to please leave the spiders alone. The natural world is in meltdown, insects and arachnids are in significant decline, and killing a population of spiders does bloody matter.

I recognise that cost may be a barrier but I’ve heard very good things about London Zoo’s Friendly Spider programme. Perhaps other places run similar courses.

I also think it is so self absorbed and egotistical for humans to think that they only have the right to be on this planet.

Hedgesfullofbirds · 22/08/2022 10:33

I'm joining the chorus of leave the spiders alone! Every single living thing which might, just might, impact upon Homo sapiens has to be killed - if it's not mice, it's wasps, ants, spiders, moths...the list goes on. Insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, all dreadful chemical concoctions which are slowly, but surely, poisoning our world. Remember Rachel Carson's 'Silent Spring' - how right she was

What makes humans so superior that they have to destroy any living thing? Do people really want to live such a hermetically cleansed and sealed existence that nothing else is allowed to live?

I have spiders aplenty in my house, along with woodlice, violet ground beetles, a shrew which lives in the kitchen, bats in the roof space, sparrows in the thatch, a garden full of voles, long tailed field mice, yes, even the odd rat on occasion - all are welcome, it is their home too!
