I’ve seen lots of people recommended indorex to keep spiders away , I’ve got some and wondering where do you spray it ? Just skirting boards and door entrances ?

I really hope it works 😭

**Rushes off to Amazon to look for Indorex. 😂

Spiders do absolutely NO HARM to us so leave them alone. It's really not that difficult.

I'm sorry it really is difficult when you have a phobia.
I know the spider can't hurt me. I know what to do, I just can't do it.

Eyesopenwideawake · 22/08/2022 18:33

@Fizbosshoes - see my post on page 3 😀

I opened this thread as I am petrified of house spiders. Even reading about them is bringing my anxiety up. I get nervous this time of year when they start coming in. I use the sprays to try and keep them out but is there anything that really works? Also can anyone suggest a service to help me over this fear? It is honestly all consuming this time of year

Igo · 22/08/2022 19:09

I hate threads like this.

just leave the poor spiders alone and work on your phobia ffs

no wonder our planet is fucked the human race is determined to wipe everything off it

we need spiders, we need bees yet people are happy to kill everything off

DuckonaBike · 22/08/2022 19:13

@trevthecat yes the Friendly Spider Program at London Zoo helped me. I’ve already mentioned it on this thread and I think someone else mentioned something similar. If you are nowhere near London you could try a more local zoo and see if they do anything like it?

They don’t come in, they’re here all the time they just come out in the open in September to look for a mate.

startfresh · 22/08/2022 19:34

This thread makes me itchy and on edge. I hate the buggers and I can't settle after I've seen one. They're the stuff of nightmares.
I wish there was a magic repellant that actually worked.
Unfortunately, if I see one and I'm alone at home, the hoover has to come out. I can't bear to get close enough to catch. I freak out too much.
If DP is here, he has to do it (woken at 3am for it previously) and if it's too big, and DP is away, I have to get friends who live nearby to come. I've locked myself out the house before to wait for a friend to remove a spider as I just couldn't be in the house.

RobertsRadio · 22/08/2022 19:56

I've learned to live with spiders since I realised how effective they are in keeping the flies at bay. For the most part I ignore them as they scuttle across the floor while I'm watching TV, however I do sometimes need to move them outside either because it's inconvenient or because they will end up drowned. I use the card and glass method, but as a result of this thread have just ordered a long handled spider catcher from Amazon, I'm very excited 😆.

I know this, my post was badly worded, I can cope with them being hidden. Just not out in the open. As a pp said, I am going to look into the London zoo thing. I'm not local to London but am willing to look at our local zoo or even travel!

Oh good, I didn’t want you to come across any nasty surprises any other time of year that’s all!

Im the same, out of sight out of mind, but I have got a little better since living alone. I can’t remove them myself but I don’t have panic attacks when I spot them. I usually ask my neighbour to move them for me, I get his wasps in return!

jewishmum · 22/08/2022 21:18

Another tip for anyone struggling, aside from educating yourselves as much as possible amongst spider positive people on spider forums, is something I did: Think of if you had a fear of butterflies. Is it acceptable to kill every butterfly that enters your home? Is it irrational to be so petrified of the butterfly that you can't go near it, is it a threat to you?

I dismantled a sofa bed last year and there was a bunch of butterflies inside it, seemed asleep, it was very odd.

RayneDance · 22/08/2022 21:27

Jewish no butterfly gives a nasty bite

Exactly. And it's perfectly reasonable to kill all creatures with the potential to sting, nip, bite or harm humans in any way.

So... that'd be most of them, then 🙄

Nor do spiders if you leave them alone.

I’m so pleased some of you with a fear of spiders are willing to get help. I wish you all the luck in the world 🍀

Thelnebriati · 22/08/2022 22:56

@trevthecat I use drops of clove oil on cotton buds at strategic points and smear it around the floor and skirting, they hate the smell and it keeps them out of the house.

Pessimisticbutoptimistic · 27/12/2022 02:08

I looked at this thread because I read somewhere that indorex not only kills fleas but it kills carpet moths too. I saw maybe one review out of 20 that mentions spiders/any bugs also die as a result of indorex flea spray. I ended up with a serious carpet moth infestation! This has been going on for over a year now. Traps, oils, scents etc aren't eradicating the problem and I'm sick of finding moth sacks crawling around or moths flying past me on my way to bed! If a can of spray can clear them off that would be great as I definitely can't afford a pest control visit. As for spiders.....I hate the leggy buggers in the corners, I call them nanny spiders because my nan's house was frigging infested with them! BTW I never saw I single fly in their Web either just thousands of hatched babies! I can catch a spider in a glass and give them a flying lesson out the window because I live in a second storey flat! They were already outside before they came in!? I do also believe I will genuinely die of a heart attack from catching one of the big hairy buggers! 🙈😂 They have boots and laces, tattoos on them too I'm pretty sure, those guys are hench. I know when I have actually one in a room too because I can hear them walking over things!!
I am however a big insect lover minus the spiders! I could probably name any insect in front of you despite other people being clueless!

Chloeclo · 05/08/2025 10:12

I’ve just done my house with indorex defence spray purely for spiders as someone told me last year it literally stops them coming in so tried it and didn’t see any big ones the odd wispy one in the corner which I can deal with.
i spray everywhere over everything! I’ve got toddlers so I just keep them downstairs and then when I do downstairs we go out. I keep the windows shut for 15 mins then open them all, you hoover later and for 7 days afterwards.
Spider season literally ruins my life. If you are genuinely terrified of something you can’t help it and it’s an awful way to have to live knowing at any point a huge spider can appear. It is on my mind 24/7 so for me this really helps.

SpiderManCan · 29/08/2025 00:52

Jesus you people are such humourless scolds. If this person wants to kill then it’s none of your damn business.

Njc1234 · 25/09/2025 08:35

I have been bitten by a spider, it's extremely painful and left me quite ill for some time. My friend was also bitten by a spider and it left the fang in her arm, it swole up like a balloon, a colleague of mine was bitten by a spider and couldn't walk for some time. They aren't all harmless and I can't tell the difference and after my experience and others I shall be killing them without questioning my moral compass in the slightest.
