If your mother is in her 70s, how often does she initiate contact?

I'm trying to get a sense of what is 'normal' here, if your mother is in her 70s and you have any kids.

If you are in contact with your mother, how often does she initiate contact by phoning or arrranging a visit or inviting you over? Not talking about participating in group chat or sending a quick message, but actual voice calls or face-to-face contact.

Oh, and they visit about once every couple of months, or I meet them halfway. I go home for Christmas, and maybe twice more over the year.

Never, I always call her because I am working and busy so it is easier for me to call her. It is the same with one of my other siblings. However, with the one with kids who lives closest, she phones a lot to sort out logistics of meeting up and when she needs something. She also phones my husband because he is far more useful than me at fixing things!

I get on well with my mum.

My mum (69) would ring me every week, we probably text a couple of times on top of that, see each other about every 2 months (live a couple of hours apart)

Never. I don't think we'd speak if I didn't I initiate. She speaks to my brother several times a day though, and sees him most days!

I see my mum 1-2 times a week. She contacts me or I contact her.

The phone is only for making quick arrangements, not for big long chats. Although she calls my DSis who lives a distance away once a week for a long chat.

Once, maybe twice a year.
