I had the best afternoon I’ve had in ages - sitting in Sainsburys carpark :)

I’m not sure what that says about me (that I’m a cheap date?!) But I really did.

My friend cancelled on me so I had a couple of spare hours. Decided to do a food shop but couldn’t face it when I got there, so just bought some water and some crisps, sat in the car and read my book.

I mean I probably won’t make it a regular thing but who knew Sainsburys carpark could give such joy!

I read on another thread that a poster says to her family she's away to do the food shop but has actually done a click and collect so uses the extra time to sit in the car park with a coffee and book. Genius!

I did the same thing this morning! Went to my favourite bakery, bought a breakfast roll and a latte, drove up on the nearby moors and found a parking spot with no tourists in it, sat in the car and sipped my coffee while listening to an audiobook and contemplating the sheep. It was great. Then I went back to my house which was full of teenage girls.

I had an Aldi shop last night and May or may not have stopped in a lay-by to eat 3 magnums and Mumsnet. (pMt evening in my defence)!!!

Hopefully you weren't there more than 2 hours? I think anything over that and you end up with a parking fine. Sainsbury's have a two hour max limit.

That sounds glorious. The other day I got my hair appointment mixed up and arrived really early. So I took myself to a cafe for some freshly made coffee and sourdough toast with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Honestly it felt like winning the euros. I sat people watching and mums netting....... bliss!

Totally get it op. I have a day to myself next Wednesday (first one for ages) - I might tell DH, who has to work, I’m off to the gym but secretly I’m going to get a McDonald’s to eat in the car 😀
