Just why?!!

OP posts:

I think some people are taking it as a serious statement of affiliation. You can hear the whooooshhh as it passes overhead. It’s satire. A wry poke at our culture.

RooniIWazlib · 17/08/2022 17:44

Does anyone actually wear the stuff? Or do they put it on to take 1 picture for Instagram for the "lol look how ironic I am" attention then bin it?

The latter obviously.

You're wearing the Gregg's crocs right now, aren't you?

autumnboys · 17/08/2022 17:51

DS16 has one of the T-shirts. He wears it a lot, I think it’s funny, DH is a bit nonplussed by it.

Ha ha…no. But going by a few of the replies I kind of wish I was.

I wouldn’t part with cash for this but it did raise a smile from me when I saw the range. It’s very wasteful of course. A flash in the pan.

I recently bought a t-shirt with Mark E Smith from The Fall cuddling a litter of kittens on the front. I snorted when I saw it. Had to have.

Looneytune253 · 17/08/2022 17:55

My 12 year old has just bought loads of it lol. Told them there's no way they're wearing it all together they need to tone it down a bit

Divebar2021 · 17/08/2022 18:01

It’s ironic - there’s a trend for low brow branding on clothes. Like these Lidl socks.

They've been there for months.

They're ironic and worn to festivals etc

Floogal · 17/08/2022 18:03

Actually think it's funny and brought the hat. Can't wait for Lidl to do their trainers again. Keep missing out on that

Imissmoominmama · 17/08/2022 18:09

My adult DD, who has learning difficulties, FaceTimed me the other day.

She’d never eaten anything from Greggs before she left home and went into supported living. Now I know how she’s put on 4 stone in two years 😕.

Imissmoominmama · 17/08/2022 18:10

Sorry- the point was that she was wearing the shorts 🤦‍♀️.

This is being reported on social media.........

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 17/08/2022 18:21

My DD is 12 and all her friends love it and think it’s hilarious. She’s making me take her on a trip to the big Primark on Friday to get some of it.

RedHelenB · 17/08/2022 18:25

Basically just falling for the "trend' just like any teenagers/young folk It's not ironic, it's been carefully marketed.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 17/08/2022 18:30

If you don’t get it you’re clearly not cool enough to wear it 😉

TheWayoftheLeaf · 17/08/2022 18:33

It's kind of camp. Like ugly and ironic which makes it kind of cool

We have Primark here in France, but not Greggs (sadly!) so might have to consider a trip to the UK :-)

girlsyearapart · 17/08/2022 18:43

Ds age 10 bought the sliders yesterday. His 3 teenage sisters are mortified at his choices

balalake · 17/08/2022 18:44

Thank you OP for giving me yet another reason never to go to Primark.

balalake · 17/08/2022 18:46

@pictish were you in The Fall?

Blossomandbee · 17/08/2022 18:48

My teenager and his friends all love it, it's like it's so crap it's cool.

TokyoTen · 17/08/2022 18:49

Both my DS love it! Why not? Just some fun and Gregg's does have cult value I think.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 17/08/2022 18:50

EasyLifer · 17/08/2022 15:54

I saw this in Primark today and couldn't believe how much of a range of it there was! You could dress from head to toe if you felt the need. Do any of you know anyone who has bought it, or seen anyone actually wearing it?

Yeah DH has the crocs

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 17/08/2022 18:51

He also has the Gregg's socks and Christmas jumper from a few years ago.
