To show you what a few traffic-stopping Mumsnetters got up to in the sun today?

These were the scenes outside hot and sunny Belfast City Hall earlier today as quite a few Mumsnetters joined thousands of other people in stopping the traffic for Noah Donohoe.

I'll post a few more photos too.

@tinplantpot I think a couple of posters have misunderstood your comments. It was good you posted a link, thank you. I'd try and let go of the misunderstanding about 'classifieds'. People are understandably sensitive about any suggestion that this should be hidden away anywhere.

picklemewalnuts · 14/08/2022 11:57

I agree, @liveforsummer . It's a worry. It's important to everyone, not just Noah's family and friends. It's important and has implications for everyone's safety- it's not a done and dusted issue.

BelfastsChild · 14/08/2022 12:12

Aren't these young people still at risk. I asked about this earlier but understandably there is a lot going on and posts are easily missed. Noah hadn't deliberately got mixed up with dodgy people like you say this came to him. Who says it won't happen again. Whoever did this is still out there feeling untouchable as they've literally got away with murder. I'd feel so scared letting my dc out my sight.
Yes, sorry @liveforsummer - I'm working my way through the thread and trying to reply when I get the chance. You are completely right. Children and young people are still at risk. They and their parents, other loved ones and teachers are scared. Another boy from Noah's school - Flynn Maguire - was robbed, seriously assaulted including a head injury and chased by an older man with a dog and a gang of youths in the same area not long before Noah disappeared and died. Flynn, a keen cross country runner, only just managed to escape. The response from the PSNI (police) was shockingly poor. I am aware of another case too before that, of another young boy taken by men in a car, terrified and badly beaten. What would have happened to Flynn and the other boy had they not got away? Would Noah still be safe and here with his mother if the PSNI's response had been better? I'm certain that there are people who feel untouchable because of it and because of the fear instilled in the good and decent members of their community.

This Drivetime radio report from the day before the rally includes an interview with Noah's auntie Niamh Donohoe:

@tinplantpot 💐sometimes messages get lost in translation due to the nature of the thread.

Anyway moving on, I feel really positive that yesterday made a difference.

The shout out at Fėile was the icing on the cake.

BelfastsChild · 14/08/2022 13:18

it was on the homepage yesterday afternoon when I looked about 4pm once I got home
Are you in NI, @tinplantpot ?

Yes.

And I was at the protest for a short while. I couldn't stay the whole time as I had plans with my daughter. Which is why I said "when I got home"?

BelfastsChild · 14/08/2022 13:21

Yes, I really don't think they were expecting the numbers yesterday to be in the thousands, @EmeraldShamrock1 and then add to that the 10k at the festival last night.

Which is why I'm so upset at being insulted and miscalled.

That poster owes me an apology but they've no intention of doing so.

I thought I was being fucking helpful linking to the bbc news story.

Clearly not. Wish I hadn't bothered now.

BelfastsChild · 14/08/2022 13:30

Thank you for clarifying @tinplantpot - I'm being told it was on the home page if you live in NI but not if you live in the rest of the UK or elsewhere - then it's on the NI page. It just needs and deserves wider coverage, and most people outside NI won't go to the NI page, so won't see it.

Don't worry at all about not being able to stay till the end. All that matters is that you were there. I'm aware of one lady who couldn't stay long at all because of health and mobility issues, especially standing in that heat, but she was determined to be there and stand with Noah, Fiona and Niamh however briefly. That's the spirit, isn't it?

Absolutely.

There was no need for that poster to jump down my throat. It was uncalled for. And unjustified. Surely the point is that thousands of people were there and that it's getting coverage. I genuinely don't understand what I did wrong and I would be most grateful if someone could explain it to me so that I don't make the same mistake again. I genuinely thought I was doing a good thing linking to the coverage.

BelfastsChild · 14/08/2022 13:38

I'm sorry your feelings have been hurt @tinplantpot . As @EmeraldShamrock1 says, I think it was just a misunderstanding. People are understandably on edge and on the look out because of the trolling, reports, derailing and trouble-causing threads about Noah attract, even from a tiny minority of people claiming to be from NI. Let's all move forward together now for Noah. 💙

As I say, I think it was just a misunderstanding. Linking to the BBC coverage is no problem - I linked to it in the OP @tinplantpot

Thank you @MissyCooperismyShero - definitely a team effort. Every single person doing something for Noah, whether big or small, makes up the whole. Every single person is needed and appreciated, especially by Fiona and Niamh.

I agree. Fiona - everyone - is thinking of the safety of all children, not just getting the truth and justice for Noah. If this poor level of investigation and a PII certificate can be used for Noah, it potentially makes the PSNI, the guilty and others just like them untouchable to go on and do the same again. And not just the safety of children of NI. As we saw with Robert Howard who went on to kill again in England, PSNI informants protected by a PII Certificate can very easily travel elsewhere.

From Fiona Donohoe:
Noah's Army encapsulate Noah's beautiful personality in every way...loving, caring, strong, with great moral compass and determination blessed to be a part of this beautiful group. Noah would be so humbled but so full of love for each and everyone of you ❤

Everyone - please beware of those trying to profit out of Noah's story, for example Truth and Justice for Noah t-shirts being sold. The only official jerseys are sold by Bourke Sports online and in store, with Fiona and Niamh's approval and proceeds going to the charitable Noah Donohoe Foundation, including a percentage to Community Search and Rescue.

@tinplantpot , answering your question about what you did wrong...

When you posted this (screenshot), @FourTeaFallOut assumed you were contradicting OP because you didn't want the thread somewhere visible, rather than correcting what you saw as an inaccuracy. FourTea was the only poster who expressed suspicion about your motives. I assume their previous experiences inform their, in this case unfounded, concern.

So you did nothing wrong. There was a misunderstanding due to the subject being so very sensitive. I'm sure @FourTeaFallOut is glad to know you are a supporter of the campaign for Noah. I suppose there must be those who are not, who could be working to subvert the campaign.

It's great you were able to get there! FlowersBrew

Time for some more nice photos, I think! Some early scenes from yesterday, as people were just starting to arrive, with thanks to Maxi, Mazza and Stephen;

Yes - everyone - if you see something for sale 'for Noah' please check, check and triple check where the money is going. It is one thing to cover costs when acting with good intentions but quite another to try to make a profit from Noah's story. I know that some people have chosen to have a t-shirt printed for themselves, perhaps because they couldn't get hold of a Bourke one which are sometimes sold out in certain sizes - that is different and perfectly fine.

But @picklemewalnuts I put a smiley face, as the screen shot shows.

And I WAS at the protest yesterday, albeit not for the full time. That was, as I said sue to having plant with my daughter as I had to get her items for university, which she starts on 5 September And we have limited time to do that is also posted the link to the story previously.

picklemewalnuts · 14/08/2022 14:45

Yep, TinPot, sadly things are easily misinterpreted. I think correcting someone else is often seen as a negative thing, rather than neutral, regardless of the smiley.
As I said, I'm glad you were able to be there. Obviously FourTea didn't know anything about you when she posted. She didn't know you were there, and you support Noah.

Can we leave it? I wanted to reassure you, but I don't think it's helping the conversation about Noah.
