These were the scenes outside hot and sunny Belfast City Hall earlier today as quite a few Mumsnetters joined thousands of other people in stopping the traffic for Noah Donohoe.

Really hoping the press and coverage shames Vara into reviewing this properly. Absolutely disgusting that so much is being concealed.

I also hope Shailesh Vara does the right thing but I wasn't impressed with his interview. He didn't convince me nor inspire hope. It seemed to be a strange mix of an attempt at a charm offensive but he was also bombastic. If 'hundreds of pages' is 'complete nonsense' then let him state the exact figure because my understanding from court is around 600 pages. All very 'nothing to see here, move along please' yet again. He repeated 'not withstanding the retractions' twice, and I think that was significant. He is covering his back to put it on the coroner. Unfortunately it doesn't inspire hope or trust when you have a coroner in Joe McCrisken who seems content to accept the PSNI (police) narrative and is dismissive to Fiona and of Noah. He has said things to Fiona like 'I'm not trying to sell myself to you' and - about four MPs who had raised concerns about the use of a PII Certificate - 'You'd think they'd got better things to do'. Fiona said she was so angry after that last comment that she had to grip her chair in order to maintain her dignity in court.

Fiona has decided that she is not going to meet with Mr Vara, which I completely understand. He should have had the decency to meet her before he decided whether or not to sign the PII application. It's no use distancing himself, putting it on the PSNI for applying in the first place and leaving the final decision with the coroner. He could have ended it there and then. He could have said no. I also wonder how much he was allowed to see - has he seen it all or was it edited by the PSNI to fit the 'no foul play' narrative? It seems he would have been briefed by Permanent Secretary Madeleine Alessandri, probably others. He may well just be a fall guy puppet but he should have availed himself of all the facts before putting his name to secrecy in the death of an innocent child.

For Noah’s Mum and the rest of his family and friends, I’m sending love and support. What a huge gaping hole left behind, after the loss of such a gorgeous boy.

You might just be able to spot Shailesh Vara MP/NI Secretary- who has signed the PII Certificate application from the police - being ushered into a vehicle, before being driven off at speed the wrong way up a one way street. He was on a visit in Derry today but sneaked out of a back entrance to avoid meeting a small number of peaceful protesters.

Shameful Shailesh tweeted this morning about A Level results day. I wonder if he spared a single thought for Noah, who was not here to sit his GCSEs, to get his GCSE results next week, his A Levels in two years or his place at University. Noah's dream was to study medicine because he wanted to help people as a doctor. Thanks to Shailesh and others, Noah is not getting justice, never mind his exam results.
