How long is it since YOU had a bread and butter pudding?

Just been thinking it's a while and I might make one.

Anyone know any fabulous recipes?

5 years + . I love Bread and Butter pudding and one of my better things I can make from scratch. However, the rest of the Mingling household don't like hot puddings so don't make it that often

If panettone and butter pudding counts I had quite a few of those in January.

Hated it but actually was made some in the Caribbean a few weeks ago and it was delicious. Served with cinnamon cream 🤤

I make mine with marmalade and it's tastes like heaven

About four years. They used to serve them in the Civil Service canteen where i worked (Flowers Hill, Bristol).

I made one with stale Hot Cross Buns on Easter Monday, does that count?

Before that it was probably the end of February.

I tried a spoonful once, spat it out as I didn't like it, and never bothered since.

I had some at Easter. It was the first time I'd ever tried it. I wasn't that impressed.

I prefer just bread pudding.

My dad used to make a savoury one in the 70s. It was lovely. Might need to try making one.

I love it. I made a hotcross bun one with marmalade and marzipan at Easter. It was lush!

With stale bread I would rather have french toast, or even just fried bread (with bacon and egg etc) or put in the food processor for breadcrumbs.

Covering it with egg, cream and sugar and baking it doesn't appeal somehow!

I've just listened to Ainsley Harriott speaking on the Off Menu podcast, with Ed Gamble and James Acaster, and his dream dessert is Gary Rhodes' Bread and Butter pudding - Yum!!

My DM makes up her bread pudding recipe, my Gran also used to make it. It’s a real family thing and I love it.

My Mum used to make Delia's chocolate one which is delicious.

Years since I made bread and butter pudding myself (I used to make a brilliant version with lemon curd but don't have a recipe because I estimated the quantities by eye). A couple of weeks since I found a yellow stickered ready made bread and butter pudding in Tesco (I think) and DH and I had it for dinner with a blob of creme fraiche.

Gosh it's been years except maybe for a little individual one from M&S. I'm really craving one now.
