Just been thinking it's a while and I might make one.

Anyone know any fabulous recipes?

MinglingFlamingo · 27/07/2022 19:55

5 years + . I love Bread and Butter pudding and one of my better things I can make from scratch. However, the rest of the Mingling household don't like hot puddings so don't make it that often

If panettone and butter pudding counts I had quite a few of those in January.

Not had it since it was forced on me as a kid about 35 years ago. I HATE it.

Hated it but actually was made some in the Caribbean a few weeks ago and it was delicious. Served with cinnamon cream 🤤

bellsbuss · 27/07/2022 20:04

I make mine with marmalade and it's tastes like heaven

woolwinder · 27/07/2022 20:05

About four years. They used to serve them in the Civil Service canteen where i worked (Flowers Hill, Bristol).

BuwchGochGota · 27/07/2022 20:07

I made one with stale Hot Cross Buns on Easter Monday, does that count?

Before that it was probably the end of February.

bigbeautifulmonster · 27/07/2022 20:08

Reading your op has made my mouth stew and I might try and make one now if I have all the necessities 😋

bigbeautifulmonster · 27/07/2022 20:08

Not stew😂
Water

Sux2buthen · 27/07/2022 20:09

Not long enough
Probably 30 years
I've never said that sentence before, 30 years, crikey Blush

Workinghardeveryday · 27/07/2022 20:11

Not since I was a kid. My mum made it with skimmed powdered milk. Absolutely disgusting.

🤢🤮🤮🤮

tillytoodles1 · 27/07/2022 20:11

I tried a spoonful once, spat it out as I didn't like it, and never bothered since.

takingmytimeonmyride · 27/07/2022 20:12

I had some at Easter. It was the first time I'd ever tried it. I wasn't that impressed.

I prefer just bread pudding.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/07/2022 20:13

My dad used to make a savoury one in the 70s. It was lovely. Might need to try making one.

I last made a sweet one about 4 months ago. And now you've made me want it, so I might do one tomorrow. I like Marmalade in it and apricots.

95percentcocoa · 27/07/2022 20:17

I love it. I made a hotcross bun one with marmalade and marzipan at Easter. It was lush!

A580Hojas · 27/07/2022 20:26

With stale bread I would rather have french toast, or even just fried bread (with bacon and egg etc) or put in the food processor for breadcrumbs.

Covering it with egg, cream and sugar and baking it doesn't appeal somehow!

bluekostree · 27/07/2022 20:27

Never had it

RaraRachael · 27/07/2022 20:28

I've never heard of bread pudding as in a sliced thing.

This thread has put me in mind of making a bread and butter one but OH isn't one for puddings.

Tesco it is then.

My DH's favourite pudding. I like it, but know it is a pudding that divides the room.
I use Gary Rhodes recipe.

I've just listened to Ainsley Harriott speaking on the Off Menu podcast, with Ed Gamble and James Acaster, and his dream dessert is Gary Rhodes' Bread and Butter pudding - Yum!!

PancakesWithCheese · 27/07/2022 21:00

My DM makes up her bread pudding recipe, my Gran also used to make it. It’s a real family thing and I love it.

JohnsShirt · 27/07/2022 21:09

My Mum used to make Delia's chocolate one which is delicious.

KohlaParasaurus · 27/07/2022 21:14

Years since I made bread and butter pudding myself (I used to make a brilliant version with lemon curd but don't have a recipe because I estimated the quantities by eye). A couple of weeks since I found a yellow stickered ready made bread and butter pudding in Tesco (I think) and DH and I had it for dinner with a blob of creme fraiche.

Babyroobs · 27/07/2022 21:23

Gosh it's been years except maybe for a little individual one from M&S. I'm really craving one now.
