Just had very strange call from the midwife

Demanding to know why I'd missed lots of ante natal appointments and my 20 week scan and saying she was coming to see me tomorrow morning. After a slightly stunned silence I said I thought maybe she'd got the wrong person as I wasn't pregnant. According to her records, I'm 21 weeks pregnant. She's really concerned as I'm classed as high risk (true)

She had the right person - right date of birth, address, name and she was the same lovely midwife I had when I was pregnant with DS and DD. I remember her well she's a lovely woman.

She was absolutely mystified by my insistence that I am not so far as I know 25 weeks pregnant... but not quite so mystified as me by the news that I am.

DD is 16 and DS is very nearly 10 - I'm not planning another Grin

I wonder if the trust is moving over to the Badger Notes maternity app and somehow previous patients are being added on. Midwives at my trust really struggle to use it.

Sadly mistakes can and do happen even with computerised records.

I'd say especially with computerised records.

unicornglittersprinkles · 26/07/2022 12:47

When I went for my first appointment with DD, my midwife informed me that the system said I was 3 years pregnant with DTs - apparently they hadn't 'closed off' my previous pregnancy 😂

@amaiabeau

You need to start your own thread! Bad form to hijack someone else's.

You're best stating your own thread on the trying to conceive board. You'll get much more help there :)

SalviaOfficinalis · 26/07/2022 13:10

Hi @amaiabeau , you’ve posted on someone else’s thread, you need to start a new one instead 😊
Good luck with TTC x

Chichz · 26/07/2022 13:19

Brilliant thread, only just read it all so wasn't waiting in suspense all night 😜 but certainly made me chuckle over nap time!

I'd love to see my midwife again! X

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 26/07/2022 13:55

@amaiabeau start a new post here www.mumsnet.com/talk/conception
You'll get better advice & no smart comments from posters who know it's an obvious mistake from a newbie

More than 15 years, my mother fell ill while on holiday in Devon and was seen at a teeny tiny cottage hospital. Fast forward and she now finds the NHS has the address of the holiday home we were staying in then as her current address, despite lots of appointments etc in the intervening years. It's just sudddenly appeared and apparently no one knows how to change it.

User737382747374 · 26/07/2022 14:19

I was getting repeated calls and texts from a sexual health clinic in London (I live in Cornwall) saying I needed to attend urgently. In my case it was obviously a case of wrong number, but your case is a bit strange! I reckon your details have been muddled with someone with a v similar name!

ButtonSister · 26/07/2022 14:21

It could be that the real pregnant woman has since had her info corrected so she is attending appointments etc, but the part of the mistake that attributed a pregnancy to you was never corrected.

Kennykenkencat · 26/07/2022 14:26

Is your name relatively common

I have had something similar with my GP as someone with my first name and surname and date it birth was virtually the same just 10 years older
Also Dh had the police visit him as they thought Dh was defrauding them when it was someone with his same and date of birth.

I sold a house to someone who then a year later sold it on to someone with the exact same name and DOB as me
All the credit agencies merged us into one person so we had 2 mortgages multiple credit cards etc

That was fun ringing my old phone number and asking for myself and having to say “You don’t know me but we were born on the same day with the same name” She though I was a long lost twin till I explained further.

concernedguineapig · 26/07/2022 23:21

Delightful! I'm so glad you had such a lovely relationship with your midwife. That's exactly how it should be.

gamerchick · 25/07/2022 21:02

Are you 21 or 25 weeks pregnant. It says both in your post.

Does that actually matter considering Op isn’t actually pregnant at all. what a petty comment

kateandme · 27/07/2022 18:29

listsandbudgets · 26/07/2022 11:35

Well, it's official - I have a professional opinion that I am definitely not pregnant.

She said it was probably an admin error, that she didn't do the booking in etc. or would have realised I wasn't me. She decided to take it on when it flagged up as she knew me and thought it was best as she was familiar with the history. They had to check as obviously it could flag up all sorts of welfare issues if mum denies being pregnant when records show she is - but I'm obviously not pregnant 21 weeks or otherwise (unless it's so early even I don't know yet)

They've now got to track down WHO is pregnant because clearly someone is or was and they're not engaging which is a concern in itself especially when they've been marked as high risk (or at least I am!!)

She was pleased to see DS and DD who were home and delighted I remembered her favourite biscuits were chocolate bourbons though she's also partial to a hobnob Grin

So sorry everyone almost certainly a mundane admin error - reckon I can put the moses basket and maternity leave application forms away now Grin

Why track down?why does it mean there is a pregnant person?

JustDoingMe · 27/07/2022 18:34

Not quite on your level but I recently had a call from the doctors nurse to confirm my appointment to have my birth control implant .........only I am 56 and post menopause.
Again she had all my correct details!

Boredofmyself · 27/07/2022 18:43

I had an irate midwife ringing me demanding to know why I'd missed my diabetes clinic appointment as my unborn baby was at risk....I'd given birth 3 months earlier and I did not ever have gestational diabetes!

GingerAlison · 27/07/2022 18:46

my god, you sound like a friend whos sucks the life out of you with pointing out stuff like this

Redshell1976 · 27/07/2022 19:10

Elsiebear90 · 25/07/2022 21:07

I have seen something like this before at work (I’m a HCP) and it was someone using someone else’s details to obtain free NHS treatment they weren’t entitled to, do you know anyone who may have done this?

This was exactly what I was going to say…sounds like someone could have stollen your NHS number.

LoisLane66 · 27/07/2022 19:11

Er...21 weeks pregnant or 25 weeks pregnant? Which is it as you mention both?

TimBoothseyes · 27/07/2022 19:15

Er...21 weeks pregnant or 25 weeks pregnant? Which is it as you mention both?

Well it doesn't matter either way as the OP isn't pregnant.
