It's a parking one

Totally full car park, apart from the parking place with the EV charger. Can I park there, even though I don't have an EV, or is it it reserved by law for electric vehicles?

This is so mumsnet. Poster asks a question to which she already (deep down) knows the answer then argues and makes derogatory comments about pp’s reading comprehension abilities. Too funny!

Confused

have a Cake You seem like your having a rough day.

as a side note. Don’t be that twat, you don’t know someone’s circumstances to block them charging up.

I know, waiting for a parking space without a charging point to become free makes me a twat.

Paq · 23/07/2022 16:35

Not everything that is twattish is illegal OP. It's not illegal to pee in a swimming pool, sing karaoke outside a crematorium or pour sand on a kid's ice cream at the beach. But it is equally twattish.

Fizzgigg · 23/07/2022 16:37

I love how you're giving people grief for not quoting legislation for you and then calling them illiterate when you could just Google it yourself without all the drama and actually knowing all the contextual info which would give you an accurate answer anyway.

So instead of waiting for a parking space, without a charging point, to become free, what should I have done to be less twattish?

I asked a specific question. I love how some posters think their opinion is equivalent of the law.

yeah Because that’s clearly what I meant.

fucking hell your really angry with the world today aren’t you. Hmm

ThunderStormz · 23/07/2022 16:42

@Damnautocorrect

I'm not angry at the world. Just calling out the posters who are getting their opinion mixed up with the law. I'm actually sitting here laughing.

But that's what you asked for. If your want the law then look it up. If you want uninformed opinion, ask Mumsnet. I mean what were you expecting? Specialists in these laws to come on and directly answer with legislation? You're barking.

Paq · 23/07/2022 16:43

You drip fed that information several posts in...

PunchyAnts · 23/07/2022 16:44

No, don't be deliberately obtuse. Let's be absolutely clear: nobody called you a twat for waiting for a free parking space without a charger. They called you a twat because you refuse to believe that it's wrong to block a charging space simply because there are no other spaces available. You are also desperately clinging to the question of whether it's actually illegal, ignoring the much more pressing problem that it's the wrong thing to do whether legal or not.

weathervane1 · 23/07/2022 16:45

Whether it's legal or not is irrelevant. Don't be a twat OP. You're being deliberately obtuse. It's not something to be admired. Grow up and stop being an arse.

Fe345fleur · 23/07/2022 16:47

Troll...

calmlakes · 23/07/2022 16:50

OP, are you actually my 13year old ?
If so I'm a little disappointed.
I've often had to explain to difference between "can I" , "may I" and "should I"
I thought we had made progress but I'm starting to think maybe not 🤔 .

loobylou10 · 23/07/2022 16:50

You weren't called a dick for 'asking the question' @ThunderStormz - you were called a dick for generally sounding like a dick and being incredibly rude. 😁

DownNative · 23/07/2022 17:00

ThunderStormz · 23/07/2022 15:54

Are you able to answer my question or not?

I actually sat and waited for another parking place to become free, so the foot stampers on this thread are wasting their time.

No one has actually been able to answer my question 😂

There is currently no UK wide legislation on making it illegal for traditional cars to be parked in an EV spot.

But SOME councils do fine for this. You said its not council land, so it'll be up to the car park owner. From what you've said, there's nothing in the rules stating you'll be fined for parking your traditional car there.

In that case, nothing will happen to you in parking in the ev spot at that specific car park.

Whether it's rude to do so or not is irrelevant to your question as to the legality of doing it.

ThunderStormz · 23/07/2022 16:25

@IncompleteSenten

Nope, I'm saying that the majority of posters on THIS thread can't read.

Just a little ironic coming from someone who couldn't be bothered to look up the answer to her question.

ThunderStormz · 23/07/2022 16:40

I asked a specific question. I love how some posters think their opinion is equivalent of the law.

So why bother posting your query on a chat forum, where the only thing you will get is people’s opinions, rather than looking up any relevant legislation for yourself? Did you expect that the only people who replied to you would be legally qualified, experienced in parking matters, and would telepathically know in which country, county and district you were trying to park? Because that’s the only way you’d get a definitive answer.

Ilikewinter · 23/07/2022 17:08

In the time youve argued with people on here you could have googled the question.

Beelezebub · 23/07/2022 17:10

If you want legislation, try Google. That’s what it’s there for and you’d have got an answer far quicker than posting here. If Google didn’t meet your exacting standards, you could have submitted the question to your local council via their website and waited for a reply. That way it will be specific to your area, and - gasp - you won’t get people with opinions replying to you.

The implication of the scenario you posted is obvious.

The inconvenience of you having to walk with a pushchair (kind of the purpose of a pushchair though) is irrelevant.

The obnoxious responses since the OP are all unnecessary.

bloodybluemoon · 23/07/2022 17:12

You will get a fine in the car parks I tend to park.

Blossomtoes · 23/07/2022 17:17

Is it national arsehole day, by any chance?

Newjobformoremoney · 23/07/2022 17:22

Going against the grain here I dont think OP question is a stupid one. Where I live most of the light post have charging capability, that does mean other people can’t park there. Then there are different charging only station which I believe is rapid charge and you need to only be in that spot for charging.

And for the record no one thinks you’re a twat for parking by a light post with charging capability as they are a fine a dozen and there would be no where for the rest Of us to park! I suppose context of where you are is important to if you’re being a twat or not.

theremustonlybeone · 23/07/2022 17:23

We have official parking spaces at the top of our road for electric cars with marked out bays. There is a random EV on the road and anyone can park there. Some folks on the whats app group for the street will occasionally ask if someone could move their car so they can use it. Its not a designated space and anyone can use it.

ancientgran · 23/07/2022 17:28

I might be dreaming but I'm pretty sure I saw something on one of those consumer rights programmes on TV about it. Basically the person got charged as if they had charged their car, so say he parked there for 4 hrs while going round a shopping centre he paid for 4 hrs charging. I seem to remember it was quite expensive.
