It's a parking one

Totally full car park, apart from the parking place with the EV charger. Can I park there, even though I don't have an EV, or is it it reserved by law for electric vehicles?

So basically you are bring a selfish dickhead/ or just looking to cause an argument!

This thread shows the double standards of MN. If it was a disabled spot there'd be posters saying its fine to park there of no disabled person was in sight. Yet its an EV spot so no parking if not an EV....

I'm not sure why you're being so argumentative. It's probably not illegal but you might get a ticket. Is it CF thing to do? Yes, and you knew that before you posted. It's a charging point for an electric car. If you have an ICE then it's not there for you to use

I asked a specific question and was instantly called a dick and selfish for asking it?

OP posts:
IncompleteSenten · 23/07/2022 16:03

Is it marked?

A quick Google OP and you wouldn't have had to mske this post and tie yourself in knots trying to justify being a CF
If you do not have an EV vehicle then yes you will be fined, as parking in an EV charging spot when your vehicle is not an EV vehicle or you are not using rhe charger is an offence for which you will be fined.

You asked if you can park in a spot for electric vehicles and people said no. Then you started arguing that it's not against the law and it's an inconvenience not to. Only then did people call you out

SD1978 · 23/07/2022 16:06

It's Menotti thin there is legislation-as an EV owner could park there, put the car on charge and bugger off for several hours using it as a normal car spot. Private car parks may have their own rules/ recommendations, but other than maybe ending up on a Facebook page for inconsiderate parking, I don't believe that there is any, legal, recourse or limitation yet to,stop, you parking there.

ThunderStormz · 23/07/2022 16:07

Thanks @IncompleteSenten as that's the closest anyone has got to answering my question.

I wonder if it's the same on private land? Like I said in my other posts, there are plenty of signs about how to pay but it doesn't say anything about non EV cars parking in the spaces with EV chargers.

OP posts:
BruceAndNosh · 23/07/2022 16:07

There are plenty of things which are legal, but doing them makes you a twat.

EV drivers HATE being Iced.

Bollindger · 23/07/2022 16:07

If it is council
The car must be actively charging and display a valid ticket for the period it is parked in the EV charging space otherwise your vehicle will be clamped." Note that you have to pay for the parking even though you're charging - no free rides for EVs, and the rules seem to be fairly straightforward.
Also if it is private land and there is any sign your classed as illegally parked, same as if you park over two spaces.

calmlakes · 23/07/2022 16:08

You can park there OP.
Whether you should is a different question.

I doubt that very much especially considering that one is illegal.

Waiting for a parking space without a charging point to become free because I wasn't sure whether I could park in a space with a charger makes me a CF does it?

I've seen it time and time again on here, people posting about parking in a disabled bay when they're not disabled "because I hurt my leg so need to be closer to the store" for example. And posters saying its fine.

IncompleteSenten · 23/07/2022 16:17

And the vast majority of posters saying like fuck it is.

FatBettyintheCoop · 23/07/2022 16:18

🤦🏻‍♀️ You haven’t said where in the world you are, so no-one can give you a definitive answer.

I’m in Ireland and I presume you’re not, so I’m not going to waste time explaining our local regulations to you.

There are likely to be local by-laws enacted to ensure EV spaces are kept for people needing to charge their EV’s. Govt’s. are under pressure to reduce emissions and to get people to move to using EV’s which they won’t be keen to do if they can’t re-charge them easily when out and about because selfish fuckers are leaving their gas guzzlers parked there instead. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Are you saying the posters on threads about disabled parking can't read?

ThunderStormz · 23/07/2022 16:25

@IncompleteSenten

Nope, I'm saying that the majority of posters on THIS thread can't read.

OP posts:
calmlakes · 23/07/2022 16:29

Parking tends to have local bylaws even within the home nations.

Obviously you can park there, that doesn't mean you should, or that it will be consequence free.

Without knowing the local parking bylaws it is going to be hard to answer a question about the consequences.

It is fairly straightforward for people to answer the "should you park there" part of the dilemma, you shouldn't.

And obviously you can park there because there is no physical obstruction.

IncompleteSenten · 23/07/2022 16:30

TBF you were the first (and one of the few) to answer my question. So, sorry for any confusion.

as a side note. Don’t be that twat, you don’t know someone’s circumstances to block them charging up.
