To give to our class teacher who's leaving this week.

I've been trying to make them into a bouquet with no joy, they just bloody spoon ffs! I want to be able to see the pictures on them 🙄

Bubble wrap around the handles to keep them spaced didn't work, they just moved 🤷‍♀️

Any other ideas? I'm nipping to town when I've finished my coffee, so could pick something up for them then.

Tie them together and stick them in a jar, then you've got a storage option too. They are super cute!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 23/07/2022 11:12

a repurposed coffee jar

PantyMcPantFace · 23/07/2022 11:15

Pack of Bluetack. Big wodges to hold in place. Ribbon over the top. Teacher gets bluetack AND fab spoons. Win-Win.

Please will you show us the end result?

They are brilliant,I'm afraid I can't think of anything else that hasn't been suggested.

Completly off topic,I get all the other nursery rhymes but what's the turtle one please?

Maybe this one......

I had a little turtle,
His name was Tiny Tim
I put him in the bathtub
To see if he could swim.
He drank up all the water
And ate a bar of soap
And now he's ill in bed
With bubbles in his throat.
Bubble, bubble, bubble.....POP!!

lucysmam · 23/07/2022 15:03

@friskybivalves sorry for the delay in replying; we've been in town. I painted them myself on Wilko 50p spoons 🙂

Thanks for the suggestions, I've picked up a box and some tissue paper to see if I can stand them up in there somehow. If not, wrapped & in a gift bag it is!

A hessian bottle bag would be good for storage too. They're on Amazon but in annoyingly large multiples (sorry no help! 😂)

lucysmam · 23/07/2022 15:58

@CPL593H I think I have one! My box stuffed with tissue paper didn't work out 😢 They're frustrating me far more than they probably should!

You need a block of Oasis, cut it down to an approximate cube and stand it on some sheets of tissue paper laid at different angles so you have lots of corners. Put the spoons into the Oasis at different heights and angles so they can all be seen, gather the tissue paper to a tying point halfway up the spoon handles and tie with ribbon or string then add a bow.

Unwavering721 · 23/07/2022 16:10

Oh thank goodness they are a toy, I thought they were for cooking! Was thinking the paint coming off in food 🤢

lucysmam · 23/07/2022 17:26

@Unwavering721 no, definitely not for cooking!

I'm at the point of I give up & just using a bin bag. I didn't get oasis because I forgot about the florist. & I realised not long ago that I forgot a card too 🙄🤷‍♀️

I'm going to pour a 🍷

Great gift! DD loves her story spoons.

Magicandspiders · 23/07/2022 17:42

Lovely idea. As a teacher I would love these! Very talented. I think a mason jar would be good.

50mg · 23/07/2022 17:49

I'd just make an envelope of wrapping paper and pop them in or use a gift bag. Why do you want everyone to see them?

CPL593H · 23/07/2022 18:03

I think a PP idea of making a bag out of a tea towel was a good one but I sense you have had enough now Grin

Do you have a piece of fabric that you could roll them in and tie a ribbon/whatever round, perhaps with an elastic band first to secure them?

I'm invested in the presentation of these spoons (which BTW are lovely and a great gift even if you do use a bin bag!)

UmbaRumba · 23/07/2022 10:18

What a bloody brilliant present !!!

This.

UmbaRumba · 23/07/2022 18:17

Shurrup @50mg Grin if I'd made them I'd be carrying them in above my head, wearing a tutu and a crown with flashing neon lights

The piece of fabric could be any tea towel you already own (in reasonable condition) that you don’t mind parting with.
Or use an elastic band to hold the spoons together and just tie a ribbon round.
Or cut a plastic bottle in half and make the kids decorate a sheet of paper to tape round it. Carry the spoons in it like flowers in a vase and blame any aesthetic failings on the kids.

LunaMay · 23/07/2022 18:45

I dont suppose you have a nursery rhyme book in good condition you could attach/tack them to?

Sacrifice a tin of veggies/soup and have the kids decorate a label to stick on
the empty tin.

LunaMay · 23/07/2022 18:46

use your tissue paper to stuff the tin to keep them in position

lucysmam · 23/07/2022 18:52

@50mg I don't want everyone to see them; I did want them to be visible to their recipient though 🤷‍♀️

I'm going with tissue paper in a gift bag now anyway, they were giving me more of a headache than I had expected them to 🙈

AuntiePushpa · 23/07/2022 19:14

I think scrunching up foil around them to keep them in position in the gift bag might work

Have you written on them in sharpies?

Buy/make a make up brush/woodwork tool roll type thing, out of fabric, put spoons in, in order of use?

Btw, they are absolutely fab, and I can think of lots of EY /FS/Nursery people who would buy a resource like that!

(Retired Teacher/Adult Lecturer/EY/FSL/Nursery owner, btw)

Octopuscrazy · 23/07/2022 20:52

I've never come across nursery rhyme spoons before. How do you use them?

They look fab btw.
