Celebrities using the bus!

Bunbuns3 · 20/07/2022 22:43

So I live very close to a local celebrity. I have spotted this person standing at the bus stop and then boarding the bus on several occasions, most recently today. So this has got me wondering, how many other people have seen celebs board a bus? I know the tube is quite common for famous people to use, but just wondering if bus use is fairly common? Admittedly we do have a very good bus service where I live.

Jenny Eclair uses the 176 in London a fair bit. I've seen Hugh Grant on the District line in the Hammersmith area.

Jenny Eclair has a podcast which I love, and she mentions always carrying her older person's free bus pass.

Where do you live? In SE London so no tubes and the bus service is abysmal

WhackingPhoenix · 21/07/2022 11:44

• Alfie Allen on the Tube, we nodded at each other
• Natalie Dormer on the platform waiting for the Tube - I was actually admiring her shoes first and looked up at her to compliment them, then recognised her and she gave me a filthy ‘don’t speak to me’ look, so fuck her and her shoes
• Paul McCartney behind me queuing for popcorn at the cinema, I wanted to chat to him but he was enjoying an incognito day out with his little girl so I didn’t want to draw attention to him
• Daniella Westbrook in a shopping centre
• Vic Reeves and Nancy Sorrell when I was at my Saturday job, he was unbelievably rude and she didn’t say anything
• Exchanged a smile and ‘hello’ with the chap who plays Aaron in The Walking Dead as we passed each other on the street in London

I live in Edinburgh. Our bus service is notoriously good, especially the area I live in, literally a bus every 30seconds.

Angus Young would blend in on both counts.

In the early 2000s, Miriam Margolyes on a tram in Amsterdam. I was living there and on my way into town with family who were visiting and she sat behind us. She was quite chatty to start with but when I asked 'Do I know you?' she said 'No' very pointedly and when I saw her as we got off she'd put on enormous round sunglasses. It was rather embarrassing and I felt like I'd intruded on her, but I honestly thought we'd met before.

He only travels by car surely?

I see what you did there

Gary Numan?

no, he prefers 'cars'

Ok ok I now know that bus usage in celeb land is not that uncommon.lol.

It was one of the Proclaimers! :-)

Both brothers together wearing their specs I'd recognise them. One twin specless would probably get about without too many people going 'ooooh there's CraigCharlie'.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 21/07/2022 15:41

Liam Gallagher once winked at me on the Tube.

Bunbuns3 · 21/07/2022 08:50

I must live near his brother the other "Proclaimer" on the Southside, but I often see his brother round here too because their meeting office/studio is around here.

Brilliant! I came into say on “celeb” I have seen on a bus is a Proclaimer!

Always jumping on the 10 or 16 from Colinton Village bud stop.

RagingRedhead · 21/07/2022 15:58

Oh I'm in Edinburgh too, now I'll be on the lookout for Proclaimers on the 10 and 16 Smile

KeyboardWarriorsUnite · 21/07/2022 16:06

Maybe they were having a bad night, but I've only seen the Proclaimers once in concert, and they have absolutely no stage presence, no chat, nothing. They just stood static and played one song after another then left.

I don't understand why some people go to see them time and time again.

"Celebrity"

🙄

britneyisfree · 21/07/2022 16:24

I saw Ashley Cole at a bus stop once in north London. I don't think he was getting on tho, I think he'd just had a cheeky Nando's or been to the cinema.

britneyisfree · 21/07/2022 16:25

An old school mate once saw mark morrison getting on the bus. Also in north London. He was deffo getting on as she checked it was him and asked why he was getting on the bus 🤦🏾‍♀️

SirenSays · 21/07/2022 16:42

I saw one of the actresses from Bridgerton getting on a train, I can't remember her real name. She plays Daphne.

Paloma Faith spoke about getting recognised on the bus. She said people are always surprised to see her there and ask why she's using a bus. She said they're even more surprised when she tells them she's just heading home, like everyone else.

hummerbird · 21/07/2022 16:48

One of Queen Elizabeth's Aunts used to catch the bus from Kensington Palace. So petite and frail.

Yes Charlie never wears glasses when out and about, but Craig does, think they said once on a programme they would never go out and about together.

not the same but I have seen rebekah staton from Pulling at a provincial train station very early in the morning waiting for something like the 5:43 London train. She was talking to her friend very loudly for that time of the morning and I wondered if she hoped she'd be recognised (obvs I did, but didn't want to say "rebekah I loved you in Pulling!!" in front of all the other people waiting.

I also saw greg davies waiting for the Euro Star and to state the obvious he is very very very tall

dubyalass · 21/07/2022 17:33

Ken Loach on the 274 (214? The single decker) through Kentish Town, frequently.

When I was last in London I was waiting for a bus on Gray's Inn Road and spotted David Thewlis walking towards me. He clocked me clocking him and gave me a wink - surprisingly sexy!

unicormb · 21/07/2022 18:21

If you live in Crouch End you can't move for celebs on the W7.

That’s right. I used to see Peter Capaldi a lot.

And whoever said Ann-Marie Duff reminded me that I used to see her and James McAvoy in the Sainsbury’s on Green Lanes.
