Celebrities using the bus!

Bunbuns3 · 20/07/2022 22:43

So I live very close to a local celebrity. I have spotted this person standing at the bus stop and then boarding the bus on several occasions, most recently today. So this has got me wondering, how many other people have seen celebs board a bus? I know the tube is quite common for famous people to use, but just wondering if bus use is fairly common? Admittedly we do have a very good bus service where I live.

I sat next to Anne-Marie Duff on the bus in North London: she was on the phone to someone (James McAvoy?) talking about what they were going to have for tea Grin

Not James McAvoy unless it was a fair few years ago!

Angus Young would blend in on both counts.

Was going to point out similar.
Brian Johnson is 74, and all AC/DC's original fans will be pensioners now! They're more likely to recognise him than anyone else.

Ooh. I wonder if you live near me. I quite often see a proclaimer waiting for a bus. Was it the number 10 into the city centre?

I must live near his brother the other "Proclaimer" on the Southside, but I often see his brother round here too because their meeting office/studio is around here.

I have been on buses with Sylvester McCoy, Lembit Opik, Daisy Haggard, Ken Clark and Jeremy Hardy. None of them at the same time as each other. That would have been fun.

DareDevil223 · 21/07/2022 08:53

I sat next to Don Warrington (Rising Damp, Death in Paradise etc) on a Northern Line tube once, he was very pleasant.

nooonakedjacuzziness · 21/07/2022 08:53

I saw Anthony Head on the train once - apparently so has half of Mumsnet!

I sat next to Judi Dench on a bus once, I recognised her, but thought she was a professor from my Uni at first. It was a bit awkward as it was quite clear I had the wrong person when I started babbling on about Uni stuff.

And, I've met Joanna Lumley who looked after me when I was unwell in the street one night. She was lovely too.

Esme the Sewing Bee lady sat next to me on a bus about 4 years ago

"Celebrity"

But I thought they could walk 500 miles? … no need for a bus

😂😂

Gary Numan?

He only travels by car surely?

ThisIsTrifficult · 21/07/2022 09:49

Saw Andy Serkis on the jubilee line I think. Thought it was Ian duty first then remembered he was dead.

AnonymousHippopotamus · 21/07/2022 09:58

"Konyeshno
Brian Johnson out of AC/DC travels on buses when he's home in Newcastle. They're full of OAPs and school kids so no one recognises him."

Angus Young would blend in on both counts.

This made me snort @Dreikanter Grin

I saw Jonny Vegas on the tube quite recently, I was quite excited because I am useless at spotting celebs.

disclaimers I spotted the late Alan Rickman sweeping through Harrods, and sat at the next table to Maggie Smith at the Chelsea Physic cafe, couldn’t hear a word she was saying though - it was obviously good gossip - I wanted to lean over and tell her to “project darling, project”.

I also saw Nigel Slater at the Chelsea Physic, not the same day as Maggie, interestingly I got into a discussion with the cafe manager about my bruschetta ( which were indifferent, untoasted bread , ie open sandwiches) I said “We could always ask Nigel Slater for his opinion, he’s sitting over there” and the manager said “Who?”. No wonder he didn’t know how to do bruschetta.

Does it count if I was once waiting for my uber in Central London and Rihanna rolled past in the back of a big black car?🤔 My goodness, the screaming!

youngestisapsycho · 21/07/2022 10:15

Rula Lenska lives in my town… she’s always on the bus 😝

waltzingparrot · 21/07/2022 10:27

Is it Jason Donovan?

He looks like the sort of celebrity who would catch a bus.
Bet he'd chat too.

LoveLarry · 21/07/2022 10:34

Never mind on the bus. Spencer from Balamory used to DRIVE our bus 🚌

You or her? Grin

I take it the Proclaimers live in Edinburgh?

Grissini50 · 21/07/2022 11:14

I once saw Jay Rayner on the bus in Brixton. He lives in Herne Hill I believe.

I used to live in a very naice area of North London and would see Anne Marie Duff on the bus all the time.

I saw AMD just after she was on Desert Island Discs... At the Oliviers in London. I held the outer toilet door open for her and said how much I had enjoyed DID... "Thanks love!" and she disappeared into a cubicle!!

Not James McAvoy unless it was a fair few years ago!

It was - maybe about 10 years ago now.

ClemmyTine · 21/07/2022 11:25

It couldn't have been one of the Proclaimers. Surely he walks 500 miles.

I love them by the way and would have been v starstruck..

DahliaDreamer · 21/07/2022 11:26

I once saw Michael Palin on the escalator on the Northern Line.

DaniRabbity · 21/07/2022 11:36

Alistair McGowan rudely queue jumped me to get on the 72 in Barnes once.
