Celebrities using the bus!

Bunbuns3 · 20/07/2022 22:43

So I live very close to a local celebrity. I have spotted this person standing at the bus stop and then boarding the bus on several occasions, most recently today. So this has got me wondering, how many other people have seen celebs board a bus? I know the tube is quite common for famous people to use, but just wondering if bus use is fairly common? Admittedly we do have a very good bus service where I live.

“Of course celebrities get the bus”

I’m not a celebrity and can’t remember the last time I got on a bus. It was certainly more than 25yrs ago though.

Ok ok I now know that bus usage in celeb land is not that uncommon.lol.

It was one of the Proclaimers! :-)

But I thought they could walk 500 miles? … no need for a bus

Frank Skinner uses the bus as he uses his over 60s travel pass to get on for free. I imagine it's fairly common in London for B level and under celebs.

I sat in front of Timothy West and Prunella Scales once (about 15/16 years ago). They were on their way to the theatre and were having a lovely chat and making each other giggle.

I sat across from Francis Boulle from MIC on the bus in Notting Hill back when the series first started😂he was reading a book.

ZarquonsSandals · 21/07/2022 08:03

My late parents once sat behind Margaret Rutherford on a bus. Apparently she was exactly the same off-screen.

My friend used to live just around the corner from Feargal Sharkey, and we once walked past his house to see him busily hanging up curtains. (He wasn't on a bus, obviously, but had been spotted out and about in the vicinity of a bus stop).

Helen Mirren and Richard Briers used to stay at a very beautiful house in our village when appearing at a local theatre. Kit Haringtons family live here s

  • bugger, pressed post. Kit Haringtons family live here so he is sometimes about. Doubt any of them ever take the bus here. One out in the morning. One back at 5pm.

I used to live in a very naice area of North London and would see Anne Marie Duff on the bus all the time.

JorisBonson · 21/07/2022 08:11

And Julian Clary

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/07/2022 08:11

I used to see Lesley Manville all the time.

HappilyHadesBound · 21/07/2022 08:11

What's a bus? 😂

Brian Johnson out of AC/DC travels on buses when he's home in Newcastle. They're full of OAPs and school kids so no one recognises him.

Angus Young would blend in on both counts.

Often saw Colin Dexter on the bus in Oxford, usually with a Co-Op carrier bag, he seemed lovely, people were so used to seeing him that everyone left him alone

Also in Oxford, back in the hey day when the city was producing lots of bands, Radiohead, Supergrass and Ride were often seen on the buses to and from East Oxford

I sat next to Anne-Marie Duff on the bus in North London: she was on the phone to someone (James McAvoy?) talking about what they were going to have for tea Grin

Ooh. I wonder if you live near me. I quite often see a proclaimer waiting for a bus. Was it the number 10 into the city centre?

WingBingo · 21/07/2022 08:20

@Incywincyspi amazing 😁😁

Alltheprettyseahorses · 21/07/2022 08:22

Sandi Toksvig gets the bus. She's written a really charming book about it www.amazon.co.uk/Between-Stops-Number-long-awaited-British/dp/0349006407/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=B09PN6TM0OU&keywords=sandi+toksvig&qid=1658388097&sprefix=sandi+%2Caps%2C214&sr=8-3

Dreikanter · 21/07/2022 08:22

We also have a local theatre and I often see the actors walking through town to and from the train station. Some of my neighbours host actors, so it’s not unusual to bump into people like Caroline Quentin as I wander round.

ivfbabymomma1 · 21/07/2022 08:23

I've seen a few celebs on Ryanair / easyJet flights in the cheap seats (with me lol)

Yes - flew back from Italy on EasyJet with Guy Garvey and Rachael Stirling sitting a few rows away several years ago (we had been to see Elbow play a couple of days previously).
