Intense celebrity crushes

Do other people get intense celebrity/ character crushes? Just wondering how normal they are? I get a few a year. Very intense, last a few weeks and then pass. Anyone else?

@TrufflesForBreakfast I rarely like real people so the celebrity crush is quite handy. I'd hate to actually meet him though, that would be far too weird.

I've had extensive, long term daydreams my whole life though, the cast of characters just changes to reflect my current crush.

cookiecreammpie · 20/07/2022 12:25

Yes I've got 2 at the moment. I dont mean to sound crude but masturbating over them helps get them out my system. I try not to let them take over my thoughts during the day and keep them to my " alone time".

Max Beesley is strangely attractive in Bodies but not now. Is it possible to have a retrospective crush on someone's younger self or is that too weird?

I have a current crush on a character from a show that ended 15 years ago!

I've had a crush on Kevin Bacon since Footloose. I love that we hear him every day on the EE ads!

Me too. Very active imagination! Great fantasy life.

I've had a crush on David Bowie since my teens (and like to cook - hence my UN), and I'm late 40's now.
If there is ever a better looking guy in existence then I may change my crushing allegiance, but I'm not holding my breath.....

ParadiseLaundry · 20/07/2022 12:53

My mum once said Jamie CB looked like Kiera Knightly and had the same mannerisms

Omg, yes!

I will never not see this now!

CounsellorTroi · 20/07/2022 13:07

Lt Malcolm Reed from Star Trek Enterprise. Been in a relationship with him for years.

BlueKaftan · 20/07/2022 13:10

Raymond Reddington for me,

Crinkle77 · 20/07/2022 13:15

Oh yeah I've currently got one on Hopper, Steve and Billy from Stranger Things.

Same...my RR is called Kiefer 😜

QuattroFormaggi · 20/07/2022 14:20

Patrick from "offspring". Crushed on him for 3 weeks, sex dreams, the lot. Then over once the series had all finished.

AlternativelyWired · 20/07/2022 14:25

Cormoran Strike.(Tom Burke). Sex on

AlternativelyWired · 20/07/2022 14:26

Got excited and pressed post too soon 🤣 sex on one leg, they should have said. I hate smoking though and his diet and lifestyle choices are appalling but still.

cookiecreammpie · 20/07/2022 14:31

Sorry that was a reply to Purple banana

currently Hopper from Stranger Things has had a starring role in my filthy dreams - which is interesting because he is pretty different to my usual celebrity crushes who usually resemble my DH.

Babdoc · 20/07/2022 14:38

I may possibly be in the running for “longest lasting crush on MN”.
I have been besotted with Mr Spock from the original Star Trek series (the character, not the actor), since I was 13. I am now 66.
That’s an embarrassing 53 years of drooling over the tv… Grin

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 20/07/2022 14:40

I very much like Henry Cavill as the Witcher.

Redcrayons · 20/07/2022 15:13

having a stranger things moment over here.

I’m trying not to get too involved with my Joseph Quinn crush as he’s youngish and supposed to be a teenager in Stranger Things. He’s very lovely though.

Jamie Campbell Bower is an exceptionally good looking man.

Jim Hopper is definitely age appropriate. He’s equally fit with his dad- bod and on the 6 months Russian prison camp diet and fitness regime.

Ah, go for it, he's almost thirty IRL.

Yes, it's definitely a thing.

Most of my crushes are from about 20 or 30 years ago, but if I see pictures of them now it's a no! I've even had an intense crush on a guy who has been dead for about 70 years 😱

I agree that the whole celeb crush thing is because it's 'safe'. Like I rarely have intense crushes on guys I meet in real life, but its easier to imagine some character or singer or whatever is some perfect guy. If I actually met them they would be disappointingly human.
Although most of the guys I have had long term crushes on over the years have been (from the outside looking in) been in stable marriages, not arsehole players, so that might be part of it, I can imagine that they are nice guys in real life.

Totally-never liked Andrew Lincoln as Egg in This Life but I have very unnecessary thoughts about him as Rick Grimes in TWD

He was gorgeous in This Life too. Very handsome man.

ItsMutinyontheBunty · 20/07/2022 16:53

I’ve done this since I was young. I get quite obsessed (I am Autistic) so I have a habit of reading as much as I can about the person, watch interviews…then it all just goes away. Most recent was Little Alex Horne from Taskmaster 😃

ItsMutinyontheBunty · 20/07/2022 16:55

oh I absolutely fancied the pants off Egg in This Life!
