Just for fun really if you can’t sleep either. I just imagine everyone on MN to;

  • Look like Mrs Hinch
  • Lives in a 4/5 bedroom detached spotless house with grey carpets throughout
  • Has a cleaner 2 days a week
  • Husband earns <£100k
What does everyone look like/ live like.

I’m 33 have medium length brown ratty hair. Currently size 10 and just under 10 stone. We currently rent a 2 bed flat in the centre of a medium size town next to a funeral directors and a Subway. I earn £24k and DH earns about £40k

Scottish, early 40s, 5'8" with wild dark mid-length ringlets (thanks, CG method over lockdown). Size 12 on a good day, honestly more a '13'.

Childfree by choice (before anybody asks, came to MN for the washing machine cleaning tips, stayed for AIBU).

Unmarried, with the OH for the better part of 20 years. Many cats.

Both £1k+ earners.

I'd sooner chew my own leg off than have a grey carpet or any kind of 'live, laugh, love' hun wankery in my house.

AffIt · 19/07/2022 17:27

Oh, and:

Live in a (mortgage-free) tenement flat. No cleaners, because a) my house is tiny and is lived in by two-able-bodied, competent adults, b) I've yet to find one that isn't shite and c) I don't like strangers in my house when I'm WfH.

Moonface123 · 19/07/2022 17:28

53, tall and slim, long relaxed light brown hair, live in casual dresses and flipflops in summer, dresses and ankle boots in winter.
Share my home with two older sons, 17 and 21, youngest is HE , self taught. We have an adorable beared dragon who is loving this heatwave, a cornsnake, two recently rehomed kittens, an older male cat and a lurcher, we all muddle along very well, have a large wild flower garden that homes two hedgehogs, frogs and many nesting birds. No cleaner, house has relaxed lived in look that l quite like.
Low income that l manage well on, l work 27 hours a week, but am wealthy in other ways such as my health, freedom, time for myself, and peace of mind.

I’m a mum of 4 boys and wife to a dreamer but a decent earner (where we live in Ireland!) who I laugh with all the time. I feel lucky I found him, I’m not particularly pretty or bright but I always hope my positivity and humour does the job!! He says he feels lucky too and he means it x We laugh a lot. I’d say we’re lower middle class but live rurally and bought a dirt cheap bungalow on half an acre that cos a fifth of any house in Dublin so we’ve fixed it up that it’s now lovely (possibly not for most!) and have a tennis court that my husband laid with a digger, a snooker table we found online for cheap and a foosball table!!) Me and dh were poor for years (my own family wasn’t but his was) and so am so so so so so content with my lot. I count myself lucky all the time. Our family is chaotic and we have cats and a dog but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I write rom coms and work full time in a huge lovely book shop newsagent place. I’m 5ft 4 and 9 and a half stone with frizzy thick brown hair and a round middle that I’m accepting of (as I love bread) Am very content but miss my family as they live a while away and my db has sn but we could never afford to live closer. I also miss my dad who died of cancer and who was so positive and lovely. I hope other people find me the same.

stayathomer · 19/07/2022 17:31

That was definitely tmi. Sorry, am off sick and in bed😂

JudgeRindersMinder · 19/07/2022 17:51

50+
size 16/18
5 bed house
£100k income
no grey carpets as house is away to be totally renovated and I haven’t a clue what I’ll go for!
I do have blonde hair tho 😂

CthulhuInDisguise · 19/07/2022 19:53

I'm a short round redhead with one DS and 2 DSS. I'm a widow with a new love. I earn enough to pay higher rate tax and am successful in my career. I am messy and anxious and have raging imposter syndrome but you wouldn't be able to tell by talking to me because I have the gift of the gab. I will grieve my DH forever, he will always have my heart. And my new man knows and accepts this. This is the way.

You sound lovely. What a beautiful post.

Right back at you!:) (yours was nicely succinct and I have the loveliest image of both house and you!)

ginslinger · 19/07/2022 21:49

I'm 66 and have no idea who Mrs Hinch is. My husband is a few years younger and he has no idea who Mrs HInch is either. We run a business together on a part time basis and used to live in a victorian house but have recently moved to something more modern. I am 5'5 and have a short hair cut that used to be called a Mia Farrow cut.

PeeAche2 · 19/07/2022 22:35

I’m 35 and chubby with enormous frizzy hair. I have an absolutely massive old house and an acre of garden, but we’re house poor and the entire place needs renovating. I don’t live in London or the Home Counties.
I live with my husband, baby and 2 step children. I’m on maternity leave but when I’m not, I’m an engineer.
I have loads and loads of subscriptions. Toilet paper, foundation, toothpaste, nappy liners, gaviscon… you name it, I have it on subscription. I don’t know why I’m like this.
No grey carpets. No Mrs. Hinch.

Your description sounds more like a Net Mummer than a Mumsnetter to me!

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 19/07/2022 23:36

Ample boobs (38DD,) 5 ft 8 inches tall, 26" waist, long wavy blonde hair, blue eyes, soft light tan skin, long legs, late 40s, but look more like I'm in my 20s, (and regularly ID'd for red bull and lager,) and am constantly mistaken for DCs sister.

I earn £65K a year, DH earns £150K, and has a big important job.

Live in a 6 bed/3 bathroom home in Cheshire with 15 acres of land, own 2 horses, and 2 cats, will retire at 55 though I probably could at 50 as me and DH have combined pensions of around a million £ already.

buckeejit · 19/07/2022 23:39

Fat as fuck, 44, poor in wealth but rich in life-£45k combined income roughly & mortgage free. Nice house & garden, always messy as I'm knackered & depressed & have very low standards

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/07/2022 00:04

I just looked up Mrs H and she’s nothing like I imagined.

Am late 40s, far too fat and deeply unstylish. live partly in a handbag sized London flat of my own, partly in my partners divorced dad 3 bed flat, sometimes with my two teen step kids as well as him, and partly in a rental in a different bit of the Uk. I earn a bit short of 100k, my partner probably earns about 150k but divorced w two kids in private schools so that all gets sucked up.

Cleaners in all of these places, all of whom I would hate to be without, I am horrendously messy. I hate cleaning and cooking from scratch. No grey on my head (yet) or in my house. I do wear grey eyeliner though, when I can find it.

mushypeasontoast · 20/07/2022 00:59

Who is Mrs Hinch?

I'm 47, with white hair that is in desperate need of a cut, short, size 20 most of which is boobs.
We have a 4 bed semi detached in the Cotswolds which is nowhere as grand as it sounds although should be ours by the end of this year rather than shared with the bank.

HistoriaTrixie · 20/07/2022 03:27

Deffo no Hinch here! Wrong continent for a start. 😆 Just turned 50 a bit ago, in the US far far away from anywhere coastal. If my conversion is correct I'm about a size 20-22 in UK sizing so, y'know, fat. Greying curly red hair. Currently in a Dos Equis t-shirt, yoga pants, and a great big tabby cat pouring himself over my shoulder from the back of the couch. Husband is a professor, I work in healthcare in medical records management. Not rich by any stretch of the imagination but we do okay. Two dogs, three cats, two grown children, and any number of cat-and-dog-hair Tribbles forming under the furniture.

HistoriaTrixie · 20/07/2022 03:33

Just realized there was nothing about the house haha! Small 3 bedroom brick Cape Cod with a decently sized (50' by about 75') back yard and a tiny front yard. The decor can best be described as 'disorganized' or when we've both been flat out at work it leans more towards 'there appears to have been a struggle'. We're just now in a place where we're moving away from hand-me-down furniture and getting new stuff in our own style. Pergo fake hardwoods, walls are light green in the living room, butter-yellow in the kitchen, very light blue in the main bathroom and pale lilac in the master bedroom. We have a big picture window in the living room so it's gorgeous when the sun is coming in.

Namerchangerextraordinaire · 20/07/2022 03:45

Tattooed, look more like Jodie Foster with a chest any tavern wench at a ren faire would be proud of (if she was part of the Addams family), than Mrs Hinch, no grey carpets, do have some rugs with grey in, no cleaner at the moment as she's gone travelling for a year, no husband any more (& I supported him when I did have one, not the other way round), nice little house but not 5 bedrooms.
Often found in wellies in the garden so house tends to have a trail of muddy footprints from the back door to the sink & kettle.

lancsgirl85 · 20/07/2022 05:47

Haha definitely don't match your description 😂

I'm 37, 5' 9", long ish blonde hair, size 10-12. I earn 50k. Live in north east in a relatively nice detached house in a rural area with DP and two DC. DP earns 30-40k (overtime depending). We are comfortable but high outgoings (nursery fees etc). My house looks nothing like Mrs Hinch's - I have no time to do housework as I'm either working or running around after a toddler 🫣😂

katesbushh · 20/07/2022 13:54

I look nothing like Mrs hinch.
Although she doesn't anymore either haha.

I'm a size 14/16 hoping to change that.
I'm 39 with natural blonde hair (I've found no greys yet)

Family of 5
Teenage children.
House is a 4 bed and has grey carpets (that I hate) in the west midlands.
We earn 135k as a family. DH earning 35k of that.
I hate cleaning with a passion and want a cleaner.
