Just for fun really if you can’t sleep either. I just imagine everyone on MN to;

  • Look like Mrs Hinch
  • Lives in a 4/5 bedroom detached spotless house with grey carpets throughout
  • Has a cleaner 2 days a week
  • Husband earns <£100k
What does everyone look like/ live like.

I’m 33 have medium length brown ratty hair. Currently size 10 and just under 10 stone. We currently rent a 2 bed flat in the centre of a medium size town next to a funeral directors and a Subway. I earn £24k and DH earns about £40k

43, 5ft 10 and size 10. Shoulder length highlighted blonde hair. Live in a 4 bed house in an unpopular town. House has grey carpets and a grey statement will but the previous owners did that and we can’t be arsed to change it.
DH earns £100k ish.
We have a cleaner. House is fairly messy as DH is crap at tidying and our 8yo needs reminding to tidy his things.

Babdoc · 19/07/2022 09:06

Stunningly beautiful, immensely wealthy, live in a Cotswolds mansion…. no, only
kidding! Grin
Retired, long widowed, silver haired, mad cat lady in small Scottish village is nearer the mark.

Bouledeneige · 19/07/2022 09:46

58 yr old size 16-18 woman with below shoulder length light brown hair with blond streaks round the face. Divorced with 2DC in early 20s. Earn £190k and live in a large Victorian London flat with garden.
Wooden floors, white walls and art. No grey and no obsessive cleaning.

VioletInsolence · 19/07/2022 11:56

I look like Victoria Coren Mitchell but I don’t have her bosoms. 5’1, size 10. I’m nearly 50 but look about 40.

Two teenage boys, two dogs, divorced. Live in one bed flat with younger son. Sleep on the sofa. I’m depressed that this is my life at almost 50. I could be in a relationship but I just can’t be bothered.

Psychology degree, used to be massage therapist but not practical due to lack of space so I’m now a self-employed cleaner wondering how long my back and energy levels will hold out. If all else fails it’s van life for me. Which I both fear and crave. Biggest fear is to end up losing all my freedom so to me this is the best option.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 19/07/2022 12:07

No idea what Mrs Hinch looks like but I suspect I'm sod all like her! I'm 5'7" about a 14 though really upping my training and hoping to tone up before my 50th birthday next year. I live in NI, don't like the town I live in but do like my house which is a 3 bed semi with a decent garden. I earn about 27k and I'll hopefully be mortgage free within the next 5 years, then I'm hoping for early retirement (might just be a dream but whatever).

Lalalaleeloo · 19/07/2022 12:11

Grey carpets are a cardinal sin on Mumsnet.

Just googled Mrs Hinch and no, most Mumsnetters are in their 50s.

Oblomov22 · 19/07/2022 12:25

Nope. Never imagined any MN'er to be Mrs Hinch. If you are on threads about current issues eg Forstater you realise how bright many MN'ers are.

Small, very ordinary life, small house, teen ds's. I don't feel many people are like me, I don't fit that he normal stereotypes.

LadyLothbrook · 19/07/2022 12:40

I'm 32 with lavender hair. Run a business, married, 2 children, renting, often likened to Billie Piper in looks. Fashion varies but mainly sweat tops and mom jeans with sneakers.

ALeafInCobra · 19/07/2022 12:44

My impressions of MN:

. Too much time on hands to earn 6 figure salary.
. a good bit of misandry but god help us we must marry well and he must earn 8 figure salary.
. Everyone is upper working class desperate to be UMC - this is evidenced by how many posts seek to find UMC signifiers, which they would already know if they were MC.
. Social climbing is rife, rather Hyacinth Bucket Grin
. Most need someone to qualify their importance, soothe their ego or just someone (usually someone poorer) to look down on.
. A favourite pastime (that miraculously fits in with high powered career) is spending 24-7 on MN attempting to create a pile on in innocent threads.
. People are careful to open any OP with a disclaimer that their areas is 'leafy' or 'naice'.
. Everyone began life in a council house but worked hard to get out of it.
. People are very nosy neighbours.
. Pools in the garden are now trending.
. Did I mention I was well off?

SmokedTofu · 19/07/2022 12:52

40's, average height, size 14, blonde hair, blue eyes! Rarely wear makeup, never have beauty treatments, definitely not glam, but I do try to look fairly put together and take care of my skin, hair and nails.

Combined £90k ish income. 4 bed semi in nice part of outer London. No Hinch styling here, house can look pretty good when clean and tidy but that's rare.

StarDolphins · 19/07/2022 12:53

I see MN mainly as a tale of 2 halves & when i’m reading posts/replies, I immediately put them in to their designated (by myself) group😂 strangely, they’re all thin & all 40+

group 1 - fun mums who are generally positive, have a GSOH & are interesting & kind.

group 2 - menopausal, lacking in humour or amusement & are cynical & dare I say it, a bit miserable

I’m a mix of both groups!

OnaBegonia · 19/07/2022 12:56

MN are very anti-Hinch, seem to have a long list of what they think is common 🤣
I'm 50, 5ft9, size 12, mid length blonde hair. Earn £45k, 4 DC, single
parent.
Have one grey carpet 🤣

katscamel · 19/07/2022 12:57

40s .... live overseas in a 1 bedroom flat which is lovely....cleaner once a week to help make sure it looks lovely. Work in Education....a UK university with a branch overseas. Salary....not enormous but ok for few flights back to the UK a year, lunch out every weekend, massage every so often

NiqueNique · 19/07/2022 13:11

Mrs Hinch is probably as far away from me as it’s possible to get!

I look/dress like myself really, so don’t know who to use as an example...Dress in anything from M&S and other high street to Barbour, Jigsaw, Jaeger, Whistles, Toast. If I was slim (those were the days!) I’d dress like Emma Hill. Handbags are mostly Mulberry/Anya Hindmarch but I’ve not bought a new one in several years now. Am currently selling off my heels because I don’t want to wear them anymore. I don’t get my hair done, don’t get my brows done - do them myself. I do my own nails, when I can be bothered, although I’d quite like to start getting manicures/pedicures again mainly for the nail care rather than colour because I never get around to properly looking after my nails/cuticles/etc. Wear very natural make up (when I wear it, which isn’t that often these days).

3 bedroom Victorian terrace. Tidy and organised but not spotless, clean but not obsessively so (I have better things to do with my time and DH works very hard so although he’s much more fastidious than me about cleaning & chores I tend to do more of the day-to-day household jobs). We’ve got grey tiles in the bathroom but that’s it. Muted colours with some stronger accents.

No cleaner.

At the moment I’m not working although I’m planning to start again soon.

Shoxfordian · 19/07/2022 13:22

I’m not Mrs Hinch either! I do like her house though

I’m 36, husband 41, probably not having children but not totally off the table. We’ve been married three years, very happy marriage

I live in south west London, on 50k
Husband 65k

Hedgesfullofbirds · 19/07/2022 13:32

58, 5'11", 14 stone, short greying hair, live in a remote thatched cottage which is very untouched and original ( not a hint of grey decor anywhere!), work as senior gardener on a private estate on below average salary, enjoy fishing, beekeeping and my chickens, share my home with spiders, woodlice, violet ground beetles, mice, a shrew which lives in the kitchen, bats in the roof space and sparrows nesting in the thatch ( all are welcome, it is their home too!)
Do my own cleaning, when I can be bothered, my own gardening (my trade, after all!) and gradually working my way through the house, renovating a little at a time. But no desire to modernise it or lose any of its charm, history or quirks - every time I walk through the door it wraps its arms around me, hugs me and makes me feel welcome - what more could I a

Hedgesfullofbirds · 19/07/2022 13:34

Sorry, posted too soon!

What more could I ask for? Happy as a pig in a mud bath😁

JorisBonson · 19/07/2022 13:35

I'm late 30's, tall and large but solid. I have hair I'm desperately trying to get into a Farrah Fawcett flick. My DH is tall and muscular and tattooed and bearded (and I pinch myself every day).

We're both frontline emergency services and my house is mostly navy, white, pink and grey. Not a bit of crushed velvet in sight.

Our cats are our children.

Sunfriedegg · 19/07/2022 13:43

Retired 60, size 12, mortgage free, younger DH still working. Boomerang DC returned home. I go running, given up drink. Have been radicalised by mumsnet Feminism. Have cancelled my Oxfam donation and transferred it to Sex Matters.

also have a unfried egg in a pan on my doorstep.

QuestionableMouse · 19/07/2022 13:46

Fat, poor and extremely working class. 😂

Wherearemyspex · 19/07/2022 13:47

An older MNer here. 68 married to DH (75), both retired of course, and living on our pensions. I'm 5'7", a "fit for my age" size 10 and 9st 7. Short grey hair: let my colour grow out in lockdown now living with it being its natural colour. House is a paid for 4 bed detached in a nice village in middle England, where we walk and I ride my horse. Definitely not a Mrs Hinch - I'll do anything but housework given the chance.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 19/07/2022 13:54
  1. 5"3. 12 stone. Detached house on 1970s housing estate. Very "middle England" though I'm not English.
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/07/2022 13:54

40s, size 10/12, dark hair in a Bob with a sharp fringe. Love clothes and am most often found on S&B. Combined income of about £100k. No kids, one cat.

takeitandleaveit · 19/07/2022 13:57

Look like Norah Batty on a bad day

3-bed terrace and the grey on the carpets is dirt

If only I had a cleaner - see above

Combined income between 3 adults less than 50k

Sallycorriander · 19/07/2022 14:01
  1. Shit hair. Size 12/14 but awful mum tum. Do own my (our) own home but live in a very culturally undiverse area with a dying town centre. I miss city life! I wish I was a bit more interesting
