What's your favourite toast topping?

And do you have butter with it?

DC told me this morning they didnt want butter on the toast, just honey . I'm sure butter is a requirement if you're having honey.

That said, I had peanut butter, with no butter (I normally would but it was my nod to being healthy....

Buttered toast and dark Seville oranges marmalade is tops.

Then buttered toast and scrambled or poached eggs.

I'm another one where the toast has to be cold before the butter and Marmite go on too. Than you get the Marmite and butter blending. Mmm.

Absolute sacrilege allowing toast to go cold before it's buttered. Butter should go on hot toast so it's all melty 😀 I then quite like some homous on top!

Imissmoominmama · 15/07/2022 15:50

All toppings work with a generous spread of butter underneath. Even better if they slightly swirl together (marmite and jam especially). Peanut butter needs the butter to stop it being too claggy (and because butter is lovely).

I don’t know why I am so fat.

My eldest had toast. WITH NO TOPPING! Not even butter or spread if he makes it (because apparently its too much hassle)
But if i make it he does.

CoffeeMad18 · 15/07/2022 15:57

A scraping of guacamole and the cottage cheese on top. Yum 😋

QuebecBagnet · 15/07/2022 16:06

cottagegardenflower · 15/07/2022 16:14

Cheese, Worcester sauce and tomato. Or butter and marmalade

UkuleleRose · 15/07/2022 16:14

Cinnamon sugar, heavy on the cinnamon, with enough melty butter to really hold the sugar on. [slurp]

Ballyhoobird · 15/07/2022 16:21

Cheese on toast with mango chutney - toast bread, spread with a good thick layer of mango chutney (no butter), top with mature cheddar cheese, grill till bubbling and golden and Bob's yeh doodah.

ilovepixie · 15/07/2022 16:21

Just butter, lots of butter, I'm a real Cunt for the butter 😂😂

yellowsmileyface · 15/07/2022 16:31

Sliced fruit with a combination of nutella, peanut butter, or honey. Maybe some sprinkled coconut or cinnamon on top if I'm feeling fancy.

I had peanut butter and honey with sliced kiwi recently. It was delicious.

Always gotta butter the base.

RoseMartha · 15/07/2022 17:28

Butter and marmite or jam or marmalade. Or just butter.

(Only like peanut butter on bread but no butter with peanut butter ).

AlphaAlpha · 15/07/2022 18:10

@ilovepixie 😂
Not seen that line used in a while!

notprincehamlet · 15/07/2022 18:34

Roasted tomatoes. Or peanut butter and marmite. Or avocado with black pepper and a squeeze of lime. Everything's better on toast.

AlwaysLatte · 15/07/2022 18:41

I wouldn't put butter with honey, but I do use butter with eg marmite. My favourite toast topping is mashed avocado and chopped tomatoes with chilli flakes.

SaborDeSoledad · 15/07/2022 18:54

Do none of you like mushrooms on toast (with butter, obviously)?

Just me?

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 15/07/2022 19:55

Chocolate spread and banana.
Pate and cucumber
Both require butter

RockinHorseShit · 15/07/2022 19:59

Peanut butter topped with sweet chilli sauce & definitely with butter

Quornflakegirl · 15/07/2022 20:18

Marmite
Bovril, spread thinly
marmalade
Mackays strawberry jam
peanut butter and honey
peanut butter and jam
cheese and jam

all with butter

QuitMoaning · 15/07/2022 20:21

Belovedfool · 14/07/2022 12:47

Marmite. Butter is non negotiable, but I hate it melted so wait for the toast to cool.
Yes, I know most people find that disgusting but melted butter is gross.

Me too. I thought it was just me wafting toast around to cool it down!

Although I am partial to peanut butter as well.

Thestoppedfan · 15/07/2022 20:26

Biscoff crunchy spread, no butter but loads of biscoff
