When you peg out your washing

FreezyFreezy · 10/07/2022 13:50

Do you have an order in which you hang your clothes?

Dh doesn't; he just pegs them on the line in any old way with mismatched pegs and everything. It bugs me but I let it lie because he is chief launderette in our house.

I did it today though and I have to put it in my order:

Socks

Pants

Cloths

Tops

Bottoms

Tea towels

Hand towels

Bath towels

They also go in order according to family member so it would be dc2, then dc 1, then mine, then dh's stuff. Of course the pegs match too.

Just wondering if others do similar?

I’m with your DH - how do you have the time or energy for such crap?

SirChenjins · 10/07/2022 13:52

No! You’re weird, OP 🤣

NancyDrawed · 10/07/2022 13:54

Not as strict as you, because I don't stick to an order but I do try to group each family member's things together and I peg the socks up in their pairs because it saves time later.

Sahara123 · 10/07/2022 13:54

Good grief no, I cannot imagine giving that much thought to hanging out my washing! I literally don’t care if my pegs match or not.

Solosunrise · 10/07/2022 13:55

I find hanging washing quite a zen activity, so i enjoy using matching pegs on each item. I attempt to hang socks in the correct pairs, but otherwise no particular order.

AmberGer · 10/07/2022 13:55

No other as such but heavier items each side of the prop. All my pegs are one colour so don't have to worry about them matching.

FreezyFreezy · 10/07/2022 13:56

I reported my thread because I accidentally duplicated it. Whoops!

I'm not weird. How VERY dare you?! 😂

*order

rainbowandglitter · 10/07/2022 13:57

What? No! Why do you put so much thought into washing? You have too much time on your hands

FreezyFreezy · 10/07/2022 13:57

We did have one colour pegs but they kept breaking so dh bought some more. A multicoloured pack from B&Ms.

no order for me, stuff just gets hung up as i lift it out the basket

whoami24601 · 10/07/2022 14:01

Oh Freezy I'm with you on this and can't believe we're the minority! I do trousers, pjs if there are any then jumpers and t-shirts. Have a little octopus for knickers and socks so they go last. Anything else is chaos!

serenghetti2011 · 10/07/2022 14:02

Clearly too much time on your hands. I have 4 kids so plenty washing it goes up how it comes out the basket and I have no time to colour coordinate pegs, I mean I actually have a life lol

SpringRainbow · 10/07/2022 14:02

i don’t care about mismatched pegs or anything.

However, I do try to group everyone’s clothes together. I also try to put underwear together, clothes together, towels together, bedding together, etc.

My main priority though it just getting everything out, so if there is a gap and I have something that will fit perfectly then it will go there. Regardless of whether it “matches”.

supersonicginandtonic · 10/07/2022 14:03

I have 5 children I haven't got the time for that 🙈

DawnMumsnet · 10/07/2022 14:03

The OP's accidentally started two threads so we're closing this one and directing everyone over to this longer one Smile- www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/4586877-when-you-peg-out-your-washing

DockOTheBay · 10/07/2022 14:05

I usually try to hang out each family members clothes together, so when I take it down they can go into separate bags and straight into their rooms. I try to hand matching socks vaguely near each other.
But I certainly don't use matching pegs or peg them in a particular order. Ain't nobody got time for that!
